Also, my kids are precious.

After giving Logan a “boy’s name,” I genuinely did not consider that people outside of the south would often read “Brooks” as a girl’s name.
Welp, here are my gender neutral children. Get into it.
Also, this is what lately looks like at our place.

Yay! My second piece of jewelry from Beyond the Willow Tree came! I now have a keepsake for each of my babies.
I already had a locket for Logan that contains a lock of her baby hair and some of my breastmilk, and now I have this ring for Brooks that contains some of his umbilical cord.
me: i’m gonna fix my sleep schedule, eat healthier, drink more water, actually leave my apartment once in a while to do interesting stuff, maybe even go to the gym!!!!
me:
This so hard right now.
Dual newborn/toddler life in a nutshell.
Woke up at 3 to pump. Brooks woke up at 3:15. He had a bottle, pooped his pants, then comfort nursed til 5. Then woke up again at 7.
Finished this cup of coffee, and already daydreaming about having a latte later too. HALP.
Lately looks like:
- Meeting Brooks (born 12/7)
- Logan’s 2nd birthday (12/14)
- Matching PJs and bright pink 4-wheelers for Christmas.
- ALL the baby snuggles
Not pictured: Lots of sleepless nights and exhaustion from having a newborn and a toddler simultaneously. See also: coffee.
December will never be the same. From here on out, it’s always going to be a hodgepodge of both kids’ birthdays and the usual Christmas rush. It’s my favorite part of the year, and I feel like it’s only going to get more magical now - a hell of a lot messier, but more magical too.

We celebrated Logan’s 2nd birthday today.
I think it’s safe to say she likes what my in-laws got her.

“Help you feel better, mama”
All in all, we’ve been doing really well since Brooks was born six days ago - except when it comes to sleep.
Hospitals and sleep don’t mix, and then my milk was late coming in and Brooks cluster fed literally all night for 3 nights. Between those two things, I hadn’t had a stretch of sleep longer than an hour since he was born.
Last night, during Logan’s dinner time, it all caught up with me, and I started crying those familiar, hormonal postpartum tears. Logan noticed immediately and said, “Mama sad,” then started bringing me everything she could find in the room. “Mama! Drinka water, mama. Help you feel better.”
Then I started BAWLING because what did I do to deserve such a sweet child? My girl is the best. Her 2nd birthday is tomorrow, and I hope we make her feel special.
This is Brooks. He’s 3 days old. I made him.
