if you need someone to tell you this let us be that person: yes you can still be a system if your parts are just different versions of you. yes you can be a system if you have trouble communicating or cant communicate at all with your parts. yes you can still be a system if your parts dont have names of faces, but are just feelings and states of being. yes you can still be a system with no set host, or frequent fronter(s). yes you can still be a system without being able to tell who’s fronting at all times or if youve switched. plurality looks different for everyone, dont just assume that because your plurality doesn’t look like someone else’s that what your experiencing isn’t plurality.

My favourite piece of continuity between any Zelda games is the how the postman in LoZ Phantom Hourglass greets you at the mailbox and reads your mail at you like a town crier but later in Spirit Tracks the postman states they changed policy because people were complaining their mail was being read publicly so he just hands you your mail instead

shout out to plurals who dont suffer from intense memory gaps but do suffer from a strong disconnect from these memories. you can remember things generally well, you know what happened before you switched in, you know youre supposed to feel a certain way about it, but you just dont feel anything. maybe you remember it like you really were there, or only vaguely, like someone told you about it second hand, but either way it just feels so different from you. you know that “you” are supposed to have some sort of feelings connected to this memory, you know it happened to “you” but it just doesn’t feel right. this experience is very normal, its okay to feel this way, and even though it’s incredibly disorienting, you arent any less plural for being able to technically remember.

States of Being

We were trying to explain to some friends earlier that saying "this person is in front" and "this person is co-conscious" isn't always the most useful phrasing for us because either of those terms can mean a lot of different things. We have our own words that we like to use to describe where folks can be in relation to our awareness.

The states on this chart are still a bit of a simplification, as we flow between them and it's more of a spectrum than a discrete set, but they're close enough to the actual language that we use to do the job.
