FINDING A GREAT OUTLINE ONLINE
Hi so I just did a dry-run of a practice LSAT and got a 160. I know that's obviously not going to get me into Yale or anything, but that was also without much prep. Anyways, I graduate high school this year and am going to a community college to save $ before transferring to unlv... So I'm not going to have this super impressive transcript. To get into a good law school (and hopefully get some decent aid as well) I know I need a REALLY high score. Do you think it's possible to improve that much?
The first thing you will learn is that we are all graded on the dreaded bell curve from LSAT to Bar. So 160 today could be great, 160 tomorrow could be horrible. When you apply to law school, your LSAT score will include the median for the curve, if you are over the hump, you are more likely to get in. But frankly, I tested at the median and had a GPA of about 3.75 and got into the school I wanted (and no, it isn't Yale but it is top 100).
I went to community college (and failed a couple of classes), I went to a lower tier college, and I didn't get a 160 on my LSAT. Point being, don't sell yourself short before you even graduate high school! You have better foresight than many young people your age, so capitalize on it. Get a 4.0 in college and maximize your chances on getting into the school of your dreams. A great resource is on the LSAC's website. You can research an ABA approved law schools admission history and get a good idea if your LSAT score combined with your GPA is likely to make the cut.
Remember, the journey to law school is different than going to law school. Once you get there, you will hate it just like the rest of us. Don't say I didn't warn you.
