Public doman
[ID: A version of the yes/no meme format showing two screenshots of Mickey Mouse from the 1928 animation Steamboat Willie. For the "no" section, he looks at the ground dejectedly. For the "yes" example," he leaps into the air with joy. The no section reads, in quotation marks, "You can only use the version of Mickey Mouse in Steamboat Willie!", followed by, in parentheses, "(Extremely misleading, making it seem like the Public Domain demands stagnation and kills creativity)". The yes section reads, in quotation marks, "You can redesign Mickey Mouse in any style or outfit you like as long as it's not a version still owned by Disney's copyright", followed by in parentheses, "(Actually explains the rule, lets people unleash their creativity.)". End ID.]
You can buy this design from my threadless store if you want to help a trans disabled artist pay rent AND spread correct info about the Public Domain at the same time :)
If you save this meme template to use, please also save the image description above as a word document or in a notes app! When you post your version of the meme, just edit the relevant sections :)
Guys I don't think Disney would have cared if you drew Mickey as an anime girl with big boobs or his saying I did 9/11 before this year. The main difference is you can now slap pictures of him on anything and put him on mass production and sell it. Companies never give a shit about fanart. If you're going to waste your time smugly drawing a character you don't like at least put it on redbubble
Thought this could fit in well here
Ok I don’t mean to be doing this too often but I literally just wrote a paper about this so I thought I would comment! The English translation is The Cursed Woman but the original French is La Femme Damnée. “Femmes Damnées” was the title of a Baudelaire poem from his acclaimed 1857 book Fleurs du mal, which was known, among other things, to be a collection that famously dealt with the subject of lesbians. The poem tells the story of the desires and passionate love between two lesbians: Delphine and Hippolyte. As a result of this poem and of the book as a whole, the terms “fleurs du mal” and “femme damnée” became lesbian monikers of the turn of the century. Though some have deemed the term “damned women” to be accusatory of some moral dissonance, the poem it is derived from is actually quite sympathetic to the condition of lesbian love as it is a love which is unable to fully flourish in that time. Regardless, the translated title of Tassaert’s painting is misleading, as the original French is less accusatory and more identifying. The title is more accurately “the lesbian.”
And she’s doing fine

If you didn't hear, Substack is now officially a Nazi site. Officially as in "the CEO has said they wouldn't ban Nazis, and that they are welcome to monetize their content on Substack". I think this is the first time a major web platform has openly say they are ok with making money out of open Nazis and white nationalists.
Substack CEO reasoning is "we don't like nazis, but we defend their right to be nazis". But, of course, at the same time, substack bans sex workers from using their platform.
So yeah, if you have a Substack account, maybe it's time to move somewhere else. As they say, if there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.
“We don’t think that censorship (including through demonetizing publications) makes the problem go away.”

feel free to fine-tune this if you'd like but. as promised.
my idea here is that peanut butter has massive impostor syndrome and would like nothing more than to be a jam. but theres one very obvious barrier to that.
Don't worry, Peanut butter Jam Jam, Dr. Jam can work miracles in the field of culinary surgery.
