Basically just a Linked Universe AU but Time and Malon take care of the chain at a daycare. Pretty simple but still-

Time and malon work at a daycare together!

Mal works at the daycare, time was a war vet who was always miserable, Mal forced him to go to her job and he immediately fell in love with the kiddos lmao uhhh here loredump on the chain children

Kiddies:

Wild (Cub) 6 - Wild is around 6 years old, and is best friends with Hyrule. He tends to put a lot of toys and such in his mouth, and the reason why there’s so many child locks and why he has a special sink to clean the stuff he puts his mouth on. Wild loves exploring with Hyrule and somehow the two keep breaking out of the building to explore. Wild also likes helping Malon prepare the snacks, and is very restless during naptime, unless he has his favorite plush.

Twilight (Pup) 7 - Wild’s older brother (by 1 year), he’s absolutely obsessed with farm animals and takes care of the daycare's pet. (dunno if i want it to be a hamster or a dog/cat), he likes playing pretend with his younger brother. Twilight is a little animalistic like his brother, and like the rest of the little chain, playing pretend. Twi and Sky bond over the love of animals, and they tend to talk a lot about them. Twilight is also very protective of his little brother, and can and will get into fights if provoked.

Wind (Guppy) 4½ - Wind has an older brother (Wars) that’s in like, in 5-6th grade, and talks about him a lot. Wind absolutely loves when they take trips to the aquarium. He’s extremely energetic, and a bit of a handful sometimes. He always talks about how he wants to grow up and be a pirate, despite pirates…not really existing anymore?? He plays in the rain when it’s raining outside, and always seems to forget to put a coat on when he does. Loves boats and trains.

Hyrule (Rule) 6 - Hyrule is very sweet and always tries to help everyone. He usually sticks with Wild, and the two of them explore almost every day, trying to learn something new. He collects as many rupees that he finds randomly on walks and such to save up for new toys to bring in. He likes fantasy books and reads about myths and legends a lot. He is, however, scared of blood.

Legend (Bunny) 7 - Legend is a bit of a bully, and tries his best to act aloof. (He’s terrible at it.) He tends to always bring in something new every day, though they always seem to have the same brand… (With a certain purple bunny.) Despite trying to be independent, the rest of the chain always ends up roping him into the games they play and such.

Four (Mini) 8 - Four is actually one of quadruplets (Shadow is adopted,) though their parents decided it would be best for the kids to have separate daycares because the last time they were all in one, well-. Four is always building something, whether it may be buildings out of legos for a game the chain is playing, to an arts and crafts thing that Malon printed instructions for. Four is actually the oldest (besides Wars because he’s not really in here-) of the chain, but yet he’s also the shortest. Four ends up fixing the toys that Wild breaks, though he asks Legend for help when Wild accidentally rips a plushie.

Sky (Bird) 5½ - Sky is very sweet, though he sleeps a lot of the time. He’s not as outspoken as the rest of them, though he does hang out with Twilight a lot. Sky sits by the windows a lot and daydreams, and he always brings a blanket with him. (It has the pattern of the sailcloth.) Sky loves birds, and he also has an imaginary friend (Fi.) Sky’s favorite time in daycare is naptime, where Time usually reads some sort of story to get the boys to sleep. Malon tends to find Sky asleep in Time’s lap, and has a small laugh seeing her husband asleep too.

Are the colours there? Four is my favorite, and I love the colour very much too, so I'd like to know if they exist in some way, even if not magical.

...Also does Magic exist? It seems so by your most recent post (as of writing). Do you want to expand on it a bit?

The colors are there!! They sometimes tag along with Four, sometimes he knows, (sometimes he doesn’t,) but he’s ok nonetheless.

also Magic does exist! The AU is kinda a modern + magic kinda thing, I’ll have to go into detail on a separate post so this doesn’t get too long.

Hello!!!! I first saw this AU a little while ago, and I like it! Seeing the chain as kids is adorable, but I have some questions.

Is the daycare just owned by Time and Malon? Are there other workers? Are there any other kids?

Why are some of the kids so old (7+)? It's probabaly a cultural difference, but even though daycare is pretty rare—most just enroll in kindergarden—from what I've seen, they usually quit before school starts? Which is at 5/6 years old here.

How old are the adults? Who are the adults outside of Malon and Time? I think you've mentioned Warriors being one of them, but I could have missed something too.

Any info on the Zelda's? You've mentioned that they'll join the daycare, but will all of them be kids? Will there be new workers when they join to help?

Not a question but the villains helping out is hilarious, I need that in my life🙏

You mentioned that Legend knew Marin (unless I read Malon wrong, which is a good possibility); how? Was she maybe a neighbor he was close to, before she moved away?

Any side characters, and do they know the Links? For example: Ravio, Four's dad from the manga, etc. Adults, kids, elders?

Do the kids have proper parents? Are they still alive, are they maybe being taken care of by another family member, or a foster/adopted?

Any familial relationships outside of Wild and Twi? I think you've mentioned one more, but I don't remember😭

Are you ever planning on writing full on stories and/or comics of sorts?

Can I try writing using your AU? I don't want to promise I will—esp since I don't really have experience writing so young kids—but I think it would be fun.

I didn't really think this all through, but I think it's like a small business that Malon had started. There are a few workers here and there but Malon wanted to interact with the kids, probably helps with advertising ig?? idk-- There are other kiddos, (prob some of the sages and such,) I just focused on the chain as the main focus since it is a LU au.

Ok, for this there is a reason kind of, I used to go to after school care and like, there was a spread of ages there. I might be dumb and uh, used daycare and afterschool care as interchangeable, my research was limited and confusing, also it said that some kids (6&7) do go to daycare. My bad for the confusion though-

Malon and Time are in their mid to late thirties. Also, Wars is Wind’s brother, Wars is like, pre-teens/teens. I think it was explained partly in Wind’s part of the master post but I could be wrong?

Oh boy the zeldys. Some of them are kids but I think it would be funny if some of them actually worked at the daycare. I’m not sure but now I kinda wanna see it lol.

Bingo!! Good job, you are correct in that statement. She was his crush and bestie and he’s still salty about it, even though they literally video call on the weekends. Bonus points if she just moved to a neighboring city that’s only 20 min away. I think my man legend is just dramatic like that lol.

yeah def!! I just haven’t figured it all out yet, I’m doing like 15 other side projects and such, but i have written down ideas when i get them.

each kid has a different family situation going on, I’ll elaborate sometime when i get the chance.

I’m not sure, i had made a draft for like, a chapter 1 thing but I don’t really like it. I might just have random little things and if a plot ends up happening, it happens.

ofc!!! Just be sure to tag me so I can see it!! Also to help with writing for kiddos, think about how they still have stuff to learn, but that they can be wiser than they look. That’s generally how I think about it.

Some ideas for plot… (poorly scrambled down by yours truly…)

Time brings in some of his masks. the chain makes their own masks and uh- whoops they’re magic!

Notes: How masks work is that there needs to be a fairy nearby for the masks to ‘work’. The fairy can choose which masks do and do not work

Wars ends up in the daycare, and starts ordering everyone around to maintain order. Reminds Time of when he served, though he tells wars to tone it down a bit.

Malon is sick and time has to stay home, leading to a different person having to watch the chain, (maybe ganon because it's funny). Varied results

Wild and hyrule get legitimately lost, time has to go search for them before their parents arrive, and malon has to deal with panicked children. Not great all around, but at least wild and hyrule got some learning experience?

Show in tell, legend brings a hell of a ton of things, and lets everyone use them. Twilight brings in a horseshoe, hyrule brings a magic boomerang, wind brings a train model he bought with his own money, four brings in some models he built (like, the really expensive ones), Sky brings his pet bird for some reason, and wild, who forgot it was show n tell day just brings a rock he found on the way to school and is desperately trying to prove that it’s as cool as everyone else’s items.

Music day, everyone brings in a musical instrument that they play and they all play together.

A thunderstorm leaves everyone indoors, power goes out. There's no wifi or anything, everyone's for themselves.

Wild keeps trying to go outside, for nearly half of the time he’s asking to go out until he sees a tree struck by lighting, and suddenly when his parents are there he doesn’t want to go outside, like, at all- he is glad for the plants getting water though

Twilight is pretty calm about it, though he seems almost sad and more mature about it, the blackout makes him feel more free about using his ability

Wind might’ve accidentally played the gale of storms.,,,,(or whatever it’s called) tries to hide its his fault the storm started- 

legend seems extra snappy (he’s thinking of Marin :(

uh…I didn’t finish this thought-

Malon and time talk with the parents. They find out some interesting facts about the kiddos, though some things they learn about both the parents and kids

Some of the zeldas end up at the daycare, uh- yeah have fun with that

Twilight - Bit of an anxious kid, he worries about his friends and family, and especially his little brother when he isn’t around him. For some odd reason he keeps sneaking out at night, but nobody really knows why. (he’s able to travel to the twilight realm.) His parents choose not to question it, though Wild will ask about it a lot. He’s a very loyal and good friend to many, though he sometimes scares younger kids off because he looks older than what grade he really is in. He performs a bit above average in school, and is trying to learn the flute on his own, with his best friend Illa trying to teach him. With a special family heirloom, he can transform into a wolf pup if he wants though he rarely uses it in the daytime.

Lu Daycare AU: Wild

someone tell him batteries aren’t edible?

Wild - He sometimes has his moments where he blanks out or shuts down, not really a meltdown, but nobody can really pinpoint what it really is. He has a friend group he meets up with during recess and lunch at his school and they’ve dubbed themselves ‘the champions’ of the school. (Urbosa and Daruk are in 3rd grade.) He doesn’t really understand why, but one of his classmates doesn’t like him much, though she has worked with him before… Wild is a bit of a handful for his parents, though he doesn’t see them often. Performs somewhat poorly in school, but doesn’t get in trouble at all. He’s actually non-verbal in class, and uses HSL. (Hylian Sign Language.) Takes piano lessons on saturdays. Sometimes, the daycare chain will go to his recitals. He uses the Sheikah Slate to communicate, and it helps him not get lost. Has burn scars on the side of his face from a house fire.
