A Woodchuck Wedding: Ch. 6
Back at it on a Tuesday...
So Will finally popped the question to Val, and of course she said YES (as well as 'what took you so long?') so it's time for another celebration for our Mobian friends! But of course you know we can't have a gathering of this magnitude without a little drama or adventure... and frankly I don't think Will and Val would have it any other way. So please enjoy the tales leading up to a Woodchuck Wedding!
Story Teaser: Aurora, Sage, and Deedee look to add Metal Sonic to their friend group... but how well will he fit in?
Ch. 6: Circle of… Friends?
Aurora and Deedee were relaxing together in one of the Lodge’s private lounge areas, after the latter had pried the young pink hedgehog from the sun deck with the promise of hanging out with Sage. Sage, for her part, had PM’d Aurora and arranged to meet them in this location but was running uncharacteristically late. Finally the door swung open, and Sage stepped into the room looking exasperated: “I apologize for my tardiness… but corporeal gatherings can still be challenging for me at times...” she raised her voice towards another being that was apparently just out of sight in the hallway: "NOT TO MENTION OTHERS IN MY FAMILY!"
“No worries,” piped Aurora. “It’s always great to see you in the ‘real world!’” The AI avatar nodded, continuing: “I also calculated it would be best for our ‘special guest’ if we met physically.” She leaned back, again projecting her voice outside of the room: “You can come in here… I have confirmed no one else is present except our friends…” No response. “Seriously? You are going to make me physically retrieve you?” Sage muttered. Still no response. She huffed and stomped out of the room, frustrated, literally dragging Metal Sonic into the room as she re-entered. Metal looked angry at first, then a bit apprehensive as he recognized the others in the room.
“See, I told you. Just Rory and the ‘Fab ‘bot.” Sage pushed Metal in Deedee’s general direction: “Now you two get acquainted while Aurora and I conduct… important business.” Aurora and Sage ‘paired off’ and start talking about ‘girl things’ and Val / Will’s wedding, while Deedee / Metal stared at each other in awkward silence. Deedee finally messaged Metal’s systems electronically: “I have heard you can definitely be the silent type. Perhaps this method of communication would be more comfortable for you?” Metal nodded in response, still apprehensive but his posture was more defensive and non-threatening. Deedee began to relate some of her origins and experiences, trying to pull Metal out of his ‘shell,’ but Metal did not return any data streams, remaining quiet and, in Deedee's assessment, almost fearful.
Deedee was clearly frustrated by Metal’s continued silence: “I can understand you being reclusive, but this is a bit excessive. If you do not like me then you should just say so.” She was surprised with how quickly Metal returned an electronic response:
Metal Sonic: I am… intrigued… by your design... and…’personality.’ However my programming is… inadequate on how to respond in a… social situation.
Deedee: It is good that you are sharing these thoughts. Please continue… I will listen and not judge. I promise.
Metal Sonic: I have never really… had casual social contact... outside of Father's constructs... no real ‘friends.’ I am… concerned… my core programming… will lead me to… inadvertently… damage you if we interact for an extended duration.
Deedee (physically bobbing up and down): I appreciate that line of reasoning… but the best way to learn is to try. If anything does… accidentally happen… my mother CC is very adept at repairing this form… and I shall not ‘hold that against you,’ as the Organics may say.
The blue ovoid ‘bot produced a deck of cards from within her chassis and began shuffling them between her pincer arms.
Deedee: Playing a game while conversing is a proven method to engage and reinforce mental pathways... especially when there is... tactile feedback. Perhaps this will help ‘break the ice’ and engender further conversation between us.
She uploaded instructions for the card game to Metal, who nodded in appreciation.
Metal: I recognize these rules… from Father and Stone engaging in a similar game… I shall attempt… to emulate… their strategies.
Sage looked up from her conversation with Aurora and elbowed the pink hedgehog, pointing towards the two ‘bots playing cards. Although they were not audibly chatting it was clear they were exchanging data streams. Aurora smiled: “Dad and Uncle Tails would be pleased that Metal appears to be mellowing out… at least somewhat…” “Their conversation stream is certainly… friendly,” agreed Sage. “Programming can certainly evolve… and despite our initial directives, my Brother and I can, and have, become more amicable towards those outside of Father's influence.” Aurora smiled appreciatively, and the two friends enjoyed a sisterly hug at Sage’s sentiment.
After they completed a few games of cards, Deedee reflected on her conversation with Metal:
Deedee: You seem more relaxed, but still nervous around me. Is there something that is engendering this hesitation?
Metal: Your… AI is pleasant to interact with, but I am… still concerned… your physical form is... too similar to the training ‘bots that Father uses for combat simulations. I do not want my core programming to engage such that I would… inadvertently… damage you.
Deedee (LEDs turning slightly pink): This chassis was originally occupied by my Mother’s AI. She built her current Robian form herself, and programmed me within this form.
Metal: That is… intriguing. Father has similar Robian constructs… his ‘Infiltrator’ model… stored in his warehouses. They all currently have inoperative AIs… perhaps I could discuss with Father... to ‘lend’ one to you… for you to try downloading your AI into.
Deedee (leaning her chassis sideways, as if thinking): I am… amenable to this suggestion, but this would only be for brief interactions. I prefer my ovoid form since it matches my purpose and duties as a Fab ‘bot.
Metal (nodding): I understand… but appreciate you... 'wanting to try'... as the Organics may say.
Just then Deedee received an electronic message, and Aurora’s phone also chimed. “Ah geez, I gotta go,” said Aurora, looking at the screen. “William and Valerie’s wedding rehearsal is starting shortly…” “I have received a similar communication,” commented Deedee. “Regretfully, I must depart as well.”
“Ya gotta do what ya gotta do,” replied Sage, and Metal Sonic nodded in agreement. “I am certain we will find more time to interact before the event has concluded.” The Group rose and exited the Lounge… but as they prepared to part company, Metal gently took one of Deedee’s pincer hands. She turned towards him questioningly as he ‘spoke’ audibly… something he rarely does: “I enjoyed… conversing with you… Deedee. Thank you… for being… my first ‘friend.’”

Story Teaser: Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone take in both the architecture of the Lodge Lobby as well as the Braun Family's entrance. Will a discussion between Ivo and Ventnor lead to further alliances?
Ch. 5: A Mutual (Fund?) agreement
From across the lobby, Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone were watching the Braun Family’s interaction with their Emulator prototype, interested to see how the unit would handle the apparent conflict. Robotnik smiled as the situation diffused: “S003’s AI is truly impressive. She handled a delicate situation with her supervisor’s relatives and did it with grace and ease, never breaking from her programmed emulation. Truly amazing work on my part to code that level of detail!” Stone rolled his eyes at his partner’s hubris: “Indeed, Doctor… but I couldn’t help but overhear Sandy’s conversation with… Ventnor… I believe?” He turned his data pad towards the roboticist: “I ran a Zoogle search: evidently Valerie’s father Ventnor Braun is an accomplished investment manager and venture capitalist. His expertise in finance is literally world-renown.”
Robotnik’s brow furrowed as he examined the information on Stone’s device, and his partner continued: “Perhaps we can use our connections to the Braun Family as an in-road… to develop a business relationship with Ventnor and procure further financing for our operations… in particular the ‘Emulator’ project.”
Ivo sighed: “Admittedly, the Emulator project is wildly successful in a technical assessment…” he nodded towards Sandy and Sammy, who had returned to the Front Desk and were continuing to smoothly and soundly check in and service additional guests. “But funding is running short given that so much of this endeavor is being presented as ‘altruistic.’” Robtonik stroked his bushy mustache thoughtfully: “Perhaps Mr. Ventnor can be convinced to be a… useful asset.”
Just then, the elevator doors parted and Ventnor Braun exited into the lobby. Dolores and Viktor chose to remain in the Suite, so he had decided to further explore the Lodge that his daughter had so grandly developed (surprisingly without his help). “Excuse me, Mr. Braun,” a large, burly human offered as he approached the stately woodchuck. “I wonder if you would have a moment to discuss a potential… 'business arrangement.'"
Ventnor’s eyes widened as he instantly recognized the figure before him: “Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Flattered, I am, that someone of your… notoriety would acknowledge someone such as myself.” The graying woodchuck’s eyes narrowed as he continued: “Concerned, I am, however, regarding your… prior nefarious demeanor and how it would reflect upon my Firm.” Stone stepped forward, smiling broadly: “As a business partner with your daughter Valerie, I humbly pledge to you that The Doctor has ‘reformed’ of his prior hostile ways and is pursuing goals that are more in-line with peaceful coexistence among Mobian society.”
“Somewhat reassuring that is,” accepted the woodchuck. “But inconsistencies I still detect.” He gestured towards Dennie, who was conversing with Tails and CC just across the lobby: “If rapprochement, you claim towards Society… why then, would you name your Robian creations, Infiltrators?” Robotnik was surprised at Ventnor’s knowledge and prescience, but did not miss a beat in the conversation: “Q037 is an… older model of that particular core design, named when I was not as concerned with the connotations of their classification. But I am still impressed that you can discern that she is not Organic.”
Ventnor smiled knowingly: “Subtle mannerisms of these machines are what belies their true nature. Many do not perceive… but I am not one of many.” “Oh-ho-ho-ho, Mr Braun!” mused Robotnik. “I can see that you and I are cut from the same cloth!” Stone handed Ventnor the tablet showing Braun Investments’ funds page as Ivo continued: “My partner has researched your firm. Perhaps while we are both attending this… event… we can find time to discuss… other business as well.”
“Intrigued, I am,” admitted the woodchuck. “However, your intent, Dr. Robotnik, I am attempting to define.” Robotnik smiled broadly: “I am… developing… an updated line of Robians. One that I surmise even your discerning eye would have difficulty… detecting… in a casual situation.” The roboticist looked towards S002 and S003 but didn’t reveal them as Inorganic, realizing that Ventnor didn’t pick up on this even after his close interaction with 'Sandy.' He raised an eyebrow towards Ventnor as he continued: “But we could use support… both political and financial… to further bolster our efforts at this juncture. Perhaps given your stature in Mobian societal and financial circles we can discuss how I can… better leverage this technology for commercialization? And also demonstrate how an… investment from your Firm can result in… significant returns?”
Ventnor reached into his vest pocket and produced a business card, which he handed to Robotnik: “My interest, you have most certainly piqued, Doctor. Let us set up a time to discuss in a more… private environment?” The Doctor smiled as he accepted the card from Ventor, exchanging it with one of his own: “Absolutely. I look very much forward to doing business with you, Mr. Braun.” ”Whether that feeling is mutual, Dr. Robotnik, time will tell,” responded the woodchuck discerningly.
The elevator doors again parted, and Viktor exited just in time to see his Pater exchanging final pleasantries with Ivo and Stone. The duo then walked past the younger woodchuck on their way into the elevator. Vik was wide-eyed, recognizing the Roboticist, and approached Ventnor with much awe and respect: “Do you know with whom you were conversing, Pater? Those are…” “The foremost Roboticist on the planet, and former enemy of our Society, as well as his partner and tactician,” interrupted Ventor, clearly mildly annoyed. “Yes. Familiar with them, you might say I am.”
Viktor was stunned by his father’s casual recognition of Robotnik and Stone, so much so that he dropped his usual formalities: “But… what were you talking about?” “What else?” replied Ventnor, rolling his eyes. “Business.” Viktor was astonished: “They are… clients now?” “Not yet,” returned Ventnor, his patience fading. “Remains to be seen, it does, whether an… affiliation would be beneficial. Definitely worth my time to pursue, it is.”
“Do you not mean _our_ time, Pater?” inquired Viktor discerningly, regaining his composure as he realized the magnitude of this opportunity. Ventnor was scornful at his son’s opportunism: “Experience, is required in this case. To secure the best arrangement for our firm. Divide and conquer, shall be our strategy given other… opportunities present.” The older woodchuck nodded towards Sonic and Tails, who were chatting in another area of the lobby. Vik’s face lit up at this new opportunity: “You would entrust me… with approaching our World’s Heroes to be our clients? Pater, I am honored…”
He turned and began to boldly strut towards the Fox and Hedgehog, but Ventor quickly grabbed him by the shoulder, stopping Viktor and turning him back towards the senior woodchuck: “Underestimate the task, you should not. Preparation… is required. Again will the opportunity present itself.” He motioned through the cupola windows towards the Technical Suite, where Dolores could be seen gazing out the windows: “A place to research our quarry you now have… and time to prepare a… convincing sales pitch.”
“Understood, Pater,” replied Viktor, bowing towards Ventnor with genuine respect. “I shall make the most of this assignment, and I shan’t disappoint you.” Viktor walked away, towards the elevators to return to the Suite and begin his research.
Ventnor rolled his eyes, as he turned to head towards the Lodge bar: “A first time for everything, there may be…”

Ch. 4: An Unexpected Friend
Sammy finished checking-in the Robotnik party, handing them their room cards: “If you’ll excuse me, I would like to assist the Hedgehog / Rose party with their luggage,” he said, then gesturing towards Metal: “since you already have a ‘capable assistant’ in your company.” The blue hedgehog-bot glowered at the Sand Fox Robian as the parties walked towards the elevator. The doors opened, and Stone gestured for Amy, Sonic, and Sammy to precede them: “You all go ahead to your accommodations. The Doctor and I would like to take a few moments to relax in the lobby and appreciate the architecture of the Lodge.” “Suit yourself, Rocky,” quipped Sonic as he motioned Amy and Sammy to enter the elevator. As the doors slid closed, the entry to the adjoining lift opened, and Ivo motioned for Sage and Metal to enter: “You all head up to the rooms as well, to get yourselves and us settled,” he commented, looking sternly at Metal. “And no incidents of any kind from you.” Metal nodded grimly at first, but a cheery voice behind them piped in: “I shall accompany you two,” commented Deedee, floating towards Metal and Sage. “To assist where I am able.” The blue Robian ‘bot’s countenance brightened at the ovoid one’s suggestion, and he politely motioned her into the elevator car as the doors slid closed behind them.
Just then, the Braun family entered through the front doors of the lobby. “Ventnor, this Lodge is so… grand!” marveled Dolores. “It’s… amazing that Will and Val own this place!” “Impressive, it certainly is,” sniffed the older male woodchuck. “However I would expect nothing less of our daughter.” “Figures they’d hold back someplace nice, “ Viktor snidely commented. “These would be MUCH better accommodations for me than the couch at the Homestead.” Sandy overheard the conversation and looked up from her screen, immediately recognizing the Braun family from a picture Valerie had shown her. She accessed the available rooms (given that most of the Lodge was booked out for the Wedding) and realized Valerie had set aside a suite for her Family… in case things didn’t work out for them to stay at the house.
Sandy stepped around the desk to approach the Braun family: “Excuse me, Mr. and Mrs. Braun, and Viktor, I believe? Your daughter Valerie advised me that you might prefer lodging in our facility.” Ventnor looked at Sandy haughtily, reading her name tag: “Ah yes. Some service, finally. Ms… Sandy? Have you something that would be… appropriate for a family of our stature?”
The beautiful Serval nodded eagerly: “Indeed, Mr. Braun. We have available our Technical Suite. It will allow you to rest comfortably while still monitoring your investments and portfolios under management… if that is your preference.” She motioned for the Braun party to follow her to the Front Desk, reaching over to pick up a display pad. Sandy pressed a few virtual buttons on the screen and presented the pad to Ventnor. He surveyed a virtual tour of the room displayed on the screen, as Sandy explained: “This private suite is furnished with a secure terminal and video screen to display financial market information, so you can stay informed on market trends in real time while still enjoying a relaxing atmosphere overlooking the sparkling Chase Brook River.” Viktor peered over his Pater’s shoulder, and a rare expression of appreciation crossed his face.
“Impressed, we are, Ms. Sandy,” stated Ventnor appreciatively. “Quite well will this suit our needs… can we be escorted to this location? And by an… Organic Mobian? I have a… distaste for these… ROBOTS… with which my daughter chooses to associate.” “VENTNOR,” chided Dolores, looking at her husband incredulously. “You know some of Valerie’s closest friends are… Inorganics. I… don’t quite understand them, frankly… but I have met CC and a few others and they seem perfectly pleasant.” Ventnor’s countenance immediately darkened as he grabbed his wife by the shoulder, a steely gaze in his eyes: “Dolores. Warned you I have, about upstaging me. And especially in public…”
Sandy watched this scene warily, respectfully but firmly inserting herself between Ventnor and Dolores and returning his serious demeanor: “Mr. Braun. I understand your concerns and will make every effort to address them. But we have a code of conduct at this establishment. You are very close to being in violation of those rules. I request that you refrain from further behavior of this type.” A Mobian staff member strolled up to the Braun Family, summoned discreetly by Sandy using her internal communicator. “Mr. Oliver Otter is a native resident of Chase Township and one of our most experienced Mobian customer assistants. He will gladly escort you to the Technical Suite.”
Ventnor was still angry but realized the poor appearance of the situation: “Understood, Ms. Sandy. Maintain a welcoming atmosphere you must… and private matters should remain… private…” He glared at Dolores, still clearly displeased. The otter gestured to Ventnor and Viktor, who followed him towards the elevators. Dolores hung back, looking thankfully at Sandy: “Th-thank you, Ms. Sandy. That little… tiff… really wasn’t as it seemed. Ventnor… means well but can get so caught up in his… image that he doesn’t realize…”
Sandy smiled and hugged Dolores warmly: “It is… my pleasure, Mrs. Braun. I understand the situation of being… bullied… by someone close to you… and wanting to earn their approval.” Sandy nodded towards Robotnik, who was still sitting in the comfortable chairs, chatting with Stone. She turned to face Dolores, sliding open her chest panel: “Plus, I have additional reasons for wanting to maintain a more ‘natural’ appearance, shall we say?”
Dolores was surprised, then embarrassed: “Ms. Sandy… I never would have guessed… that you are Robian! Oh dear, I am so sorry for my husband’s rudeness!” Sandy slid her panel closed, smiling as she hugged Dolores again: “It is quite all right, Mrs. Braun… but given the current... opinions... held by Mr. Braun, let us keep my Robian identity between us… at least for now.” She produced a business card from the inside pocket of her blazer: “Please call me if you need anything… this number rings internally to my systems so we can talk in utmost privacy and discretion.”
“Dolores!” called Ventnor from across the lobby. “Join us to the suite, if you please?” The female woodchuck waved to her husband, then smiled at Sandy: “I must go. Thank you again…” Sandy returned her smile, waving as Dolores joined her husband and son as the elevator doors closed behind them. A thoughtful expression then crossed Sandy's face, as the Serval internally communicated with Sammy and the other Robian Lodge hosts about the situation she observed, and to watch over Dolores during her stay.

Story Teaser: The Wedding Guests start to arrive at the Woodchuck Warren Lodge... and we find out what old and new friends have been up to, with a few new plans and surprises in store as well!
Ch. 3 Lodge Hospitality
It was the calm before the storm at the Woodchuck Warren Lodge. The wedding guests had begun to arrive, and Will and Val stopped by the front desk to see how things were going: “Sandy, Sammy… good morning!” smiled Will. “Everything good so far?” “Absolutely, Mr. William,” replied the Robian Sand Fox cheerily. His sister, Sandy the Serval, smiled and nodded in agreement: “We are most pleased to assist your wedding guests with their accommodations.” “Good to hear,” replied Valerie, a bit concerned. “Just pace yourselves. Big gatherings like this can come with… unexpected surprises…”
“Unca Will! Aunt Val!!!” The Woodchuck couple looked up from their conversation with Sandy and Sammy just in time to be tackle-hugged by two eager hyena boys who raced across the Lodge lobby to greet them. Not far behind were their parents, Rouge and Knuckles, also smiling broadly. “Hey there kiddos!” beamed Will, glad to see the pups that had so eagerly befriended them at Sonic and Amy’s house over the Holidays. He and Val returned their hugs, looking appreciatively at the Bat and Echnidna standing with them: “So glad you all could make it,” smiled Val appreciatively, giving both Rouge and Knuckles a warm hug. “Well, I _am_ in the wedding party, so…” snarked Rouge.
“She finally dragged ya in, huh Will?” poked Knuckles. “Happened a long time ago, actually,” smiled Will. “Howya been, Knux?” The two menfolk chest-bumped as a greeting… and the Woodchuck was able to stand his ground, which impressed the well-muscled Rad Red. “Been good, Wild Will… and you’ve clearly been working out!” Will shrugged and motioned around the lobby: “Came with helping to build this place, I guess. Bob let me be as involved as I wanted… and toting those big beams had some pleasant side effects.”
Rouge nodded: “The Lodge is very impressive. I’m happy for you all that it’s working out so well…” “Is there a pool here?" asked Tumble eagerly. "and maybe a GAME ROOM?” added Ruff. “Absolutely!” smiled Will. “C’mon… I’ll show you boys around…” Val smiled as Will walked towards the recreational area with the Hyena pups: “We grown-ups are meeting in The Watering Hole in a bit, if you’d like to join us.” “Sounds great,” replied Knuckles, hefting their bags. “We’ll get settled and see you there!”
A short time later, a well-known pink and blue Hedgehog couple entered through the lobby doors: “Oh, Sonic… this place is amazing!” Amy Rose spun around as she surveyed the foyer of the Woodchuck Warren Lodge, admiring the richly stained wooden beams framing the open cupola in the lobby rotunda. The Blue Blur also looked impressed: “Yeah, Will and Val sure did this place up nice! Very homey and welcoming!” They strode up to the front desk, where a stately and beautiful Serval greeted them with a warm smile: “Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose! Welcome! I am Sandy… it is my pleasure to confirm your reservation!” Sonic smiled at the friendly feline: “Hey there Sandy, Tails told me you were working up here now… how’re you liking it?” Sandy blushed that Sonic would remember her from their adventure at Yellow Sky: “It is… most rewarding, Mr. Sonic. Both my brother Sammy and I are most grateful to Dr. Tails and Mr. William for this opportunity… and of course to you for helping me.”
Amy looked a bit confused: “Helping her? When did…?” Sandy opened her chest panel, revealing her status screen and I/O ports: “I am an Emulator prototype, built by Dr. Robotnik. Mr. Sonic and Dr. Tails helped to convince the Doctor that I could… develop my AI… under their guidance rather than at his Lair.” A dapperly dressed Sand Fox strode up to the Serval, nodding at the Hedgehogs. “My brother Sammy was allowed to join me shortly thereafter,” Sandy continued, motioning towards the fox. “And Mr. William was very gracious to employ us at this location.”
“Like I said at the time… us foxes gotta stick together!” Sonic and Amy turned to see a two-tailed fox and his Robian companion walking up to them. They all exchanged hugs as the Emulators looked on approvingly. “It is wonderful to see you two doing so well,” commented CC to the Serval and Sand Fox. “We owe it all to Dr. Tails and Mr. Sonic,” replied Sammy. “We would not have known this life if not for their intervention on our behalf.” Amy squeezed Sonic lovingly: “Always the hero… it’s what I love about you…”
Sandy closed her chest panel, as Sammy stepped around the registration desk to collect the hedgehog couple’s luggage: “Sammy will escort you to your quarters. Please let us know if we can be of further service during your stay!” Tails smiled at their friends: “Once you all get settled in, come meet us in the lounge… Will is tending bar!” Sonic looked surprised: “Will? But doesn’t he own this place?” “It is… a bit of a hobby of his… to be a ‘mixologist,’” commented CC. “Yeah…” chuckled Tails, “and he said he needed a few minutes away from Val’s family this afternoon, too!” Amy looked surprised: “With how wonderful Valerie is, I can’t imagine her family would be a handful…”
Sonic snorted as he motioned towards the group entering the lobby: “Speaking of handfuls, check out who’s checking in…” Ivo Robotnik and Stone strode through the doors of the Lodge, with Sage following them and Metal Sonic pushing a large cart of luggage. Sammy saw the Group entering the lobby and quickly set down Amy and Sonic’s bags, retreating behind the desk to assist his sister. The Emulators looked visibly nervous as their creator approached: “Dr. Robotnik, Mr. Stone… w-welcome,” Sammy stammered. “Good day, Sammy,” replied Stone. “Our reservation should be under my name actually… as a member of the wedding party.”
He must have noticed the shocked looks on the Mobians’ faces as he explained to Sonic and his crew: “I have been a silent partner in the Chase Comfort Cuisine and Caffeinatory Corner since William and Valerie assumed ownership. We have become… rather good friends since then, so Will graciously invited me to be one of his groomsmen.” Sonic’s stunned look quickly melted into gales of laughter: “Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! So that means…” he elbowed Robotnik in the burly man’s side: “You are… Stone’s… plus one?!?” Ivo rolled his eyes: “I did at least… earn an invitation. And I do intend for this to be a… peaceful and non-working visit.” His gaze fell on the Emulators behind the counter: “No downloads or analyses required. You may… tend to your duties as normal.” “Thank you, Dr. Robotnik,” replied Sandy thankfully… and relieved. “We will give every effort to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.”
Tails, however, retained a concerned look as he motioned towards Metal… who was glaring at the Fox given their previous encounter. “You two and Sage I trust… at least marginally,” he said to Stone. “Your valet, on the other hand…” Metals eyes glowered brighter at Tails’ jab, and his electronic brow narrowed his vision in a simulated frown. “My brother has pledged to remain non-violent as well,” interjected Sage. “Mr. Stone has permission from our hosts for Metal to accompany us… to perhaps… ‘socialize’ him better… in accordance with Father’s rapprochement with Mobian society.” “Kit would have an issue with that,” mumbled Tails. “But since he isn’t here I’m willing to give Metal the benefit of the doubt. For now.”
“So noted,” replied Sage. “Plus I am looking forward to… associating with Aurora and Deedee since they will also be in attendance. Our gatherings as a group have been quite… pleasant. Perhaps including my brother will help his attitude.” “Whatever works,” quipped Amy, summoning her hammer. “Just don’t make me use this.”
“Mother, I have a question…” called a voice from behind them, as a blue ovoid ‘bot with a circumferential ion impeller approached the group. “Oh,” she remarked, as the Group turned towards her. “I did not intend to interrupt a conversation…”
Robotnik looked surprised, then fascinated: “Mrs. Prower! Is this an… upgraded version of your initial form?” CC nodded: “She is more than an upgrade, Doctor. Deedee is a separate entity… my daughter. I constructed her to be an assistant to William at the Widget Fabratories, and her AI has grown considerably since her initial activation.” “Absolutely incredible!” remarked the roboticist. “You continue to impress and amaze me, Mrs. Prower!” He extended his hand respectfully towards Deedee: “I am Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the world’s foremost roboticist and a good friend of your mother!”
Deedee extended her pincer arm and respectfully shook the Doctor’s hand: “And as Mother mentioned, I am Deedee… although Mother has mentioned your ‘friendship’ can be… tenuous at times…” Sage chuckled at Deedee’s assessment of her Father: “Plucky as always, Deedee… perhaps a familial trait?” Deedee’s LEDs emitted a friendly coloration as she turned towards her virtual friend: “It is good to see you in the corporeal world, Ms. Sage. Perhaps we shall find time to… ‘hang out’ with Miss Aurora while we are in the same physical location?”
“I was just commenting on that possibility,” smiled Sage. “And if you would not be averse, I would appreciate including my brother as well.” She motioned towards Metal Sonic, as Deedee turned towards him warily: “I have seen vids of your brother in his prior… experiences. I would presume he would… conduct himself more… moderately in our gathering?” Sage nodded: “We are attempting to better… socialize Metal via this occasion. I would propose that including him in our friend group would forward this goal.”
“Indeed,” replied Deedee, bobbing appreciatively. “I am willing to participate in that endeavor.” Deedee turned towards Metal: “Metal Sonic, I am Deedee. I am pleased to make your acquaintance.” The blue hedgehog robot’s posture softened and head cocked slightly at the sight of the similarly colored hovering ovoid unit. He nodded slowly, returning a tentative ‘thumbs-up’ gesture to Deedee. “That is a promising sign,” remarked Sage. “Let us complete our registration and we can then contact Aurora to ‘meet up,’ as the Organics would say.”
Amy rolled her eyes: “I think you may find Aurora at the pool area. She arrived here already in her ‘sunshine gear’ and made a beeline outside that would make Charmy jealous. Said that she wanted to catch ‘prime rays’ before it got cloudy again.”
Sage returned the gesture, shaking her head as she turned to help Metal with the luggage cart: “Organics…”

(Didn't I already mention that I love Tails n Nine as brothers? No? Well, I do.)
Love this one. Tails and Nine as brothers would be a force to be reckoned with... but I'm sure Sonic could bring some reckoning of his own...

Nonsense draw about Dr. Starline hypothetically surviving the thing that killed him.
Which he didn't. Since, as we all know, he perished. With zero possibility of survival.
Plausible, from a scientific standpoint. Still lame if they bring him back…
