the start of something again
tumblr was one of the first places i ever shared my art, back when i was just a middle school kid obsessed with indie horror and trying to make my own characters out of it.
a big part of that early inspiration came from indie horror games like bendy and the ink machine, and from a comic called quest for the ink machine (just to be clear, i don’t really engage with it anymore, this is more about how it influenced me when i was younger). that whole era genuinely shaped a lot of my creativity. i was really inspired by the idea of making my own stories and ocs, and over time those ideas just kind of evolved into what i make now ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
i drifted away from tumblr for a bit, especially after that comic went on indefinite hiatus, and then later finding out about the controversies around the creator made me feel pretty conflicted about something that used to mean a lot to me when i was younger. looking back, it wasn’t really about it being “good writing” or anything—it was just something that really stuck with me at the time and got me into creating in the first place.
after that i went through a pretty long art block where i didn’t feel inspired to draw much at all (._.)
but recently i’ve been getting back into it again and it honestly feels really nice, like i’m reconnecting with something i didn’t realize i missed.
i’ve always been into cartoons, character-driven stories, and indie horror stuff in general, so that’s still a big inspiration for what i make now.
