”Ugh, right? I’ve honestly never wanted to kick someone in the neck more.” Groaning in disgust, Hayley was beyond sick of dates gone wrong, and while she could only blame herself for poor choices, she still wondered if there was at least one decent guy on those horrible apps. “ Like a small penis?” She snickered, grabbing the stem of the other glass and lifting it in the air. “ And to dabbing on those fuckboys and giving up on dating apps just because you were browsing Tumblr one night and saw someone talk about their Tinder lover story.” She chuckled, clinking glasses and taking a generous sip.” Please tell me you have a better story we can toast to?”
“I don’t blame you,” The brunette agrees sympathetically. He snorts with amusement as she blatantly says what he’d implied. “Yeah--” He laughs, “Yeah that’s exactly what I meant. I mean-- if you think about it, it’s us who should feel sorry for him.” He heaves a sigh of consideration with more disappointment than pity behind it. “Please Hayley-- a woman like you doesn’t belong on dating apps-- you’re setting your standards too low.” He replies. His distaste at the idea is more than evident as his facial features crumple again. “Those things were made by fuckboys for other fuckboys to lure good unsuspecting women into believing that finding love is as easy as swiping a screen. You and I both know it’s all total bullshit.” He takes a sip from his glass and swallows the dark liquid. “Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.”
A tight grin pulls across his face, as the embarrassment washes over him internally. “Ah-- unfortunately, I’m just as unlucky in the love department-- and the only stories I have are about school and working with animals when I’m not writing papers.”

Cameron huffs a laugh, knowing all too well what the other man speaks of. It was all too common amongst the community they lived in. Unfortunately, it was home. But he’d learned to tune it out mostly. “I can agree with the bullshit meter being pretty low for that kind of thing-- especially if they were being obnoxious about it. I guess I just try to ignore it as much as possible. That kind of stuff will melt your brain.”

Standing in line at the local coffee shop, Bethany’s attention was placed firmly on the phone in her hand, instead of what was happening around her. The feedback from her latest essay was supposed to be emailed at any minute, and that had put her on edge. Frantically just refreshing her emails waiting for the notification to appear, she froze when she realized she’d somehow made it to the front of the line and still hadn’t made up her mind about what she wanted. Turning to the person behind her, she offered them the most polite smile she had. “Do you want to go first?”
Cameron, having been distracted by his own phone, looks up at her as she speaks to him. His mouth sort of hangs open and he stares at her like a deer caught in the headlights for a minute. It takes him a second to process her suggestion, his eyes darting between the counter and the woman in front of him. “Uh-- yeah-- are you-- sure...?” He stumbles, uncertain of himself as he gets lost in the depths of her eyes for a second. “Really-- I don’t mind waiting.” He tells her, offering her a broad grin and nodding toward the barista.

Loo double-looks the man in front of her, having not properly looked him over until then. Her mind shut down just a little at the sight of a man she didn’t know, and her smile threatened to falter. But he was being quite nice, and so she glanced up at him again and nodded. “S’pose you can’t. I can be quite convincing.”
She takes the sheet back, happy to see a signature — even if there was only one. She raised a brow then, looking down at the sheet when she spoke next. “You saying there’s something wrong with my sheet?” A small, teasing smile appears on her lips, but her gaze is still fixed on the paper before her.
He continues to beam at her as she replies. She sort of reminded him of someone he once knew but had lost track of some time ago. He can see the pride with which she looks over the paper and almost feels guilty for his suggestion. He clears his throat, shaking his head quickly. “Nope. Not at all. It’s perfect just the way it is-- I guess I more meant-- keeping an electronic copy and you know, advertising it so we could gather more members.” He explains awkwardly, knowing he must sound like a total idiot. He offers her another wary smile.
“Can’t have a book club with just the two of us, right?” He suggests hopefully.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of activity. It’s been a rough week for me. I’ll likely be around tomorrow on all blogs to get some replies out. I was debating hiatus, but I’d prefer to try to stick it out. I’m gonna head to bed early tonight so that I can be here sooner than later.

Cameron nods in understanding, the smile remaining on his face. “Hey fair enough-- it’s good to spread the word. I get it.” He agrees, shifting where he sits. “Sometimes people aren’t as receptive to it, so you gotta be a bit careful, but nothing wrong with a little evangelism.” He pauses, his face settling. “My dad is Jewish and my mom is Christian, so I guess you could say I got the best of both worlds as far as Abrahamic faiths go.”

“Oh, so you remember that guy I met from Bumble last weekend? First he was late, which I could forgive, but then he started asking me all the questions about my hair color like he wanted to know if the curtains matched the carpets, and then he asked my feelings on going Dutch which I basically heard as “I voted for Trump, are you gonna put out because I’m not spending any money on you if you don’t” and then when I told him I was a blogger he said it’s not a real job and if I had any plans for the future. As if that wasn’t enough to make me ask for my food to-go, when he found out I had 32k Instagram followers he got all weird and pissy almost. Don’t ask me why he was insta-stalking me during the date. But the main point to this story is that he actually tagged me in something this morning. Like to get attention so he could get more followers. Can you believe that bullshit?”
Cameron listens to his friend explain how badly a recent date had gone. He can’t help the incredulous expression he makes as the whole thing leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. His face crumples as it seems to get worse and worse until the punchline about the desperate attempt for attention. He nods slowly, trying to remind himself that it wasn’t right to gossip about someone. But then, it sounded like this prick was completely deserving of it. “That’s so messed up-- what the hell is wrong with people?” He complains. “If you ask me-- it sounds like he was overcompensating for a lot that he only thinks he has.” He goes on, pulling the wine bottle over and pouring more in their glasses. When they’re full, he puts the bottle aside and raises his own glass to hers. “To knowing when to stay-- and likewise when to run away as fast as humanly possible.” He toasts.

She’d been enjoying a coffee outside when out of the corner of her eye she caught movement of the child seated a table away from her. They began to make faces at her and stick their tongue out in a teasing but rude manner. To the little one’s surprise the poised woman had no problem with returning the ugly faces even as their mother turned around and looked upon her with disapproval. “Well, Good day to you too, Susan.” A roll of the eyes towards the offended party and she shook her head to take another sip of her latte. “Pft, people don’t raise their children with any kind of respect these days and then want to act as if you are the problem. Nor can they seem to take a silly gesture either.”
His eyes catch sight of Adira as she makes faces at a not so polite child sitting nearby. He has to hold in the chuckle that threatens to escape as she responds to the look of disapproval she receives. He can’t help but agree with her commentary on the general state of parenting and the youth they raised. He nods toward her, lowering his book. “You know-- you’ve got a point Mrs. King.” He strikes up conversation, raising his own cup of coffee toward her from where he sits at a table adjacent to hers. He takes a long swallow of the still warm liquid and cast his eyes down again, not wanting to bother her if she were having a quiet moment to herself.

Hey guys! Sorry for the absence! Work’s been nuts, but I’m on Spring Break now so I should be on a lot more this coming week. I’m here working on replies from the various muses that I owe. If you’re interested in plotting or even just chatting out of character, feel free to hit me up via IM.

“ i’ve been thinking of starting a book club here in claremont. it’d be so fun! i already started the list. but…. wait, isn’t the point of a book club to read new books? … — shit, i think it is; i’ve read all the good ones in here. i guess i’d just have to assign — is assign the right word? — the really good ones to the club members. anyway, wanna join? ”
she ended her speech by offering the other a pen and paper, on which she had scribbled claremont bookclub with a few doodles hearts and books, and a smiley face for good measure.
He watches her intently as she chatters on and on about starting a book club. He’s already decided that he’s down to join before she can even ask. As she finishes, he lets out a light chuckle. He shakes his head, “I mean-- when you put it that, how can I turn you down?” He agrees, furrowing his brows at her.
He watches her pass over what he can only assume is a sign up sheet. He pulls it forward and takes the pen, signing it quickly before shoving it back toward her. “There-- first official member-- and hey, if you want to upgrade the sign up sheet I’m more than willing to help. And you know-- spread the word.”

Cameron clears his throat as the other takes the seat beside him and starts going off about God loving him. He reaches back to grip the back of his neck, trying to figure out how to reply without sounding rude or dismissive. “Uh-- yeah man-- I already kinda knew all that--” He begins, hoping the other will take the hint that he doesn’t need convincing. “I was raised in a spiritual family-- so trust me I already believe in the Big Man. I know he’s up there-- that he’s got my back.”

I’m gonna decide on a theme for Cam’s blog and probably call it a night. I keep staying up too late and having trouble getting up for work the next day. I’m pretty sure I got most of the replies and starters. Just think. This time Friday night I’ll be on vacation from work for a whole week! Yessss!!!
