I have come up with a better metaphor than âyou canât pour from an empty cupâ for burnout. You canât boil an empty kettle. Pouring from an empty cup just gets you nowhere. Trying to boil an empty kettle can ruin the kettle, the stove, and burn down your house if you keep trying it.

Stockholm syndrome was coined to slander a woman who had been in a hostage situation but openly criticized the poor police response which recklessly put her in more danger and escalated the violence. She was then belittled and discredited publically by the police for this.
So. Yeah. Maybe Belle does have Stockholm syndrome actually.

According to accounts by Kristin Enmark, one of the hostages, the police however was acting incompetently, with little care for the hostages' safety, which forced the hostages to negotiate for their life and release with the robbers on their own. In the process the hostages saw the robbers behaving more rationally than police negotiators and therefore developed a deep distrust towards the latter. Enmark had criticized Bejerot specifically for endangering their lives by behaving aggressively and agitating the captors. Here are some other facts you should know about Nils Bejerot: He had a major influence (this involved founding the "Swedish National Association for a Drug-free Society") on Sweden's zero-tolerance approach to drug use.
And he wrote "Barn, Serier, SamhÀlle" (Children, Comics, Society), basically the Swedish version of "Seduction of the Innocent"; an infamous anti-comics book by Fredric Wertham that led to the Comics Code Authority.
Bejerot described comic books as a "significant mental hygiene and cultural problem that concerns us all."
This is the man who coined the phrase "Stockholm syndrome", guys.

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Here he presents a literal translation of the Biblical idiom of the âwolf in sheepâs clothingâ and pits across its opposite, the inverted metaphor âsheep in wolfâs clothing.â Itâs interesting to witness how simply changing the exterior of each stuffed animal seems to change the physiology and the expressiveness of the animal. In this case, the skeletal interior seems to preserve the animalâs inner âessence,â since the sheep in wolfâs clothing looks like a docile wolf, while the wolf in sheepâs clothing looks like a predator sheep.
Story idea:
The protagonist is a young woman without much going for her, who somehow ends up in a scam in which she'll impersonate a local rich isolated weirdo's previously unknown daughter in order to get adopted and inherit him.
She's 100% sure there's no fucking way that this will work, but as soon as she shows up he's like "ah, of course, I remember nothing about your mother but you look just like her" and takes her in.
The dude is really fucking weird but treats her well, and after a while she begins to trust him, and feel bad about planning to betray him. She begins to help him clear out his old creepy hoarder house mansion, and actually convinces him to start using the money he's been sitting on into useful things, including donating to the social program that helped her survive her teens.
She tries to keep her distance, but despite of being born into so much wealth that he's completely out of touch with normal peoples' reality, he's been so damn nice that eventually she confesses the whole scam.
He, too, has a confession - it turns out that he had his testicles entirely removed in 1994, he's known all along that there's absolutely no way at all that he has biological children, but at his age he had started to regret that his lack of practical social skills has prevented him from having friends or starting a family, so when she showed up on his doorstep he just went
if youâre white and wanna write a poc character and feel awkward about it i implore you to ignore any twitblr stuff treating it as a massive ethical burden and instead come in more with the same mindset youâd have if you wanted to write about idk firefighters but didnât know anything about firefighters so you do... research. If I were writing about firefighters I'd also, in addition to just reading about them, take advantage of Our Blessed Internet to ask actual firefighters about how shit works. I'd do the same for a minority I'm not a part of.
I remember when there was this LiveJournal community where you could just ask about anything you needed for your novel - medicine, professions, vehicles, how things function in country X - and people who knew something about that would answer.
We need to bring this back.
