🌷 - go to botanical gardens/flower-picking
“Wait, stay still. You’ve got a butterfly on you,” Lucie noted gently, instinctively reaching out to brush his arm. It wasn’t until he turned that her eyebrows shot up, surprise flickering across her face. Jesse. Of all people, she hadn’t expected to run into him here. This place didn’t exactly scream his type.
The butterfly lingered for a beat, wings flexing lazily, before lifting off to drift toward a nearby bloom. Lucie’s gaze followed it, softening as it landed and settled into place among the flowers. She crouched again, watching in thoughtful silence, the moment stretching between them. Finally, her voice returned, soft, like the thought had just slipped out. “You ever notice how flowers never really clash, no matter the colours?” she asked, eyes still on the garden. “Imagine being that pretty, and not even knowing it. Just… blooming because that’s what you’re meant to do.”

🍦- get ice cream together
“Just because you’re taller than me doesn’t mean you get the bigger cone,” Lucie declared the moment he stepped out, both hands full of ice cream. Her grin was triumphant as she added, “I’ve got seniority, little brother. Age outranks height every time.” Her eyes zeroed in on one cone in particular, catching the glint of raspberry sauce and a generous scatter of sprinkles. “And that one- don’t even try to argue; is definitely mine.”

"I know that it's all a part of life but it kind of sucks," Axel pouted with discontent. "I know that there will still be times when we all get together but I hate change. Big change like this. I often find myself missing how things used to be."
"That's growing up for you..." Though it was more said for her own benefit than to ease Axel. "I understand that more than you know. It seems to me though, that the two of you have had changes for the better so even if it's hard sometimes, we should be glad of them."
"If you can allow yourself to then you totally should," Chloé encouraged when the woman spoke about taking a trip someplace to change her surroundings with someplace sunnier. "I always feel like a new person after a holiday. It usually doesn't last longer than a few days as it goes hand-in-hand with the come-down from a fun getaway, but it's still a nice feeling even if shortlived."
"Maybe. I'm a little too attached to my tea shop though. Unhealthily so perhaps. Maybe taking some time away would be a good thing for exactly that reason." Though the idea of going alone wasn't exactly filling her with excitement. She was someone who enjoyed company. "Sleeping in would be a joy even if the after effects don't last all that long."
"I can't blame you, they're solid ones. Especially if you're going for a fruity flavor," she agreed. "I highly recommend it if you haven't. Maybe you'll end up really liking it," Lucy urged lightly with a smile. "And if not well... then I guess I'll owe you one you actually enjoy next time."
"You wouldn't owe me anything. This is my own decision after all. It's not like you've forced me to choose anything." Lucie pointed out with a little laugh. "Though if I do like it, I might have to take your suggestions more often."
"Well actually, the Play D'oh is coming up less now as she gets older but she's still very much into Frozen and princesses. I love doing those things with her but I'd like to take my mom had off for a bit."
"Really? You would think that PlayDoh would be the kind of thing to continue through the ages. Still, I suppose that depends on the type of little person she's becoming." Lucie said with a smile at the thought. "It must be something to watch her figuring out who she is though."
"Oh I uh, I just meant that I quite like you being alive, so you don't touch any deadly plants," Theo explained, a light blush covering his cheeks, "Of course, I have time for you. I'll just pack up and lock up and then we'll go."
"Ah I see? I thought I had some sort of interesting thing going on in my life that perhaps I hadn't noticed or appreciated." Lucie laughed warmly when Theo clarified. "But thank you, I also prefer myself alive." She agreed in good humour. "I'm happy to hear I don't have to worry about you trying to kill me off any time soon." At the others confirmation, she nodded her head. "I will wait down in the lobby for you if you like. It seems perhaps a more appropriate space." Given all his work was in here, she probably should have been a bit more considerate.
"I'm sure he won't have any protests about it though, even if we do spring it upon him," Axel considered with a chuckle. "It's been so long since we all last got to really spend time together so it'll be well received I'm sure. And if not I'll just tease him about it."
"I should hope not." Because Lucie didn't even want to think about the idea of Aiden not being happy to see them. Whilst it was unlikely, he had his own life and probably had built something for himself when apart from them. It felt strange not to have him around like she was used to. "I know... I miss being able to do things together but I suppose everyone has their own thing now..."
April laughed, "It's not that hard. Just stray away from Frozen, princesses and play-doh food and I think we'll be okay," she joked.
"That sounds like a pretty good way to spend an evening to me, but then again, I don't have a child and so I don't have the pleasure of those on a regular basis. I can completely see why that might become too much if you have to do it regularly.
"Well, it's more like the same book split into two but I suppose you're right. It could be worse, I could have writer's block," Theo replied, laughing, "I quite like your life too. What do you say? Shall we get lunch or something?"
"You quite like my life? I'm curious as to what you think it involves." How did people see it from the outside? Perspective was always interesting. "But yes, lunch sounds good if you have time for me."
"Underlying, not undying. But I suppose sometimes I can get a bit dramatic about it," she considered, snorting to herself. "It doesn't put me off swimming completely, but I certainly prefer a pool to the ocean," Chloé explained with a light shrug. "And yeah I love a boat. Just because I have a fear of what lives underneath the surface doesn't mean I'm put off water completely. Especially if that water's someplace beautiful like Mauritius or something."
"And I suppose that is fair enough. I'm more of a water baby though. I've always loved the sea and sand, jumping off boats and things like that." She admitted, recalling the trips they'd taken in the past. "That sounds idyllic though right now. Especially with the weather we have in England. I need to take a trip somewhere hot and relaxing."
"Yeah," Jordi agreed, though when he remembered childhood Christmases, it just made him sad. The happy memories with his parents were soured the day his father was arrested. "I think I definitely think about my later Christmases than my childhood ones, honestly."
"Is that for positive reasons more recently?" She asked, not wanting to assume but getting that impression. "I don't think it really matters when the happy memories are from, as long as they are happy. I think that's supposed to be partly what the season is about."
"I still feel like you're capable of asking me to jump into the freezing water with you, intoxicated or not," Jesse snorted lightly after her argument. "Is that so? I mean I've heard of it but I guess I didn't consider people actually did that," he admitted, looking to the grapes she'd held up. "Are you in need of some luck this year?"
"Oh, most definitely but that didn't get me very far last year. I'm not sure why I'd try again this year. At least not with you." There was still a very good chance she might actually try it herself one of these years but at least she wasn't drunk this time. "I believe plenty of countries do it." Not theirs generally speaking she realised, but that didn't matter. "Would anyone turn down a little bit of extra luck?" Perhaps it was avoiding the question a little but she doubted Jesse really wanted a proper answer in the first place. "You're more than welcome to do it too. A whole punnet isn't required after all."
Theo shrugged, "I guess I need to consider two volumes or something," he paused and stepped toward her, apology dripping from his actions, "No, no. Lucie, you're more than welcome here any time. I just don't want you to touch anything deadly," he smiled warmly.
"It's good that you can think about a second book already. I think that's quite difficult for a lot of people and yet you have surplus information at your disposal." Lucie pointed out. "I'd rather I didn't touch anything deadly either so thank you for the warning. I quite like my life most days." She said with a laugh.
"No," Theo chuckled, "Because they aren't just one thing. They can be beautiful and dangerous, living but very still and unbreathing, towering and frail..." he gestured with his hands that the possibilities were endless, "I've done a rundown on famous plants around the world, a section on muggle plants that can be used for magical potions and remedies and a chapter on rare plants so far. They're quite extensive so I will have to do some editing... or make it multiple books."
"Well it's better to have too much than too little I would imagine, though figuring out what bits are less important is a difficult job in itself. It's all in the definition I suppose." Lucie mused as she took a step back again. "I'm sorry to have trespassed on your space however. I didn't realise."
