“ nagito … let go of my hand. “
----- A warm panic came over him as he looked quickly to their joined hands that floated out in front of them before back up at Hajime. Maybe he'd misjudged the situation? Truth be told he wasn't the best at reading most cues, but he didn't realize the action would be so unwelcome. Reluctant to take his hand back, Komaeda kept a loose grip on Hajime's - he didn't want to make him think he didn't like him by letting go so quickly.
“Huh- w-why? Is something wrong?”

slender fingers travel with grace as she places a hand on her hip confidently. her voice is calm but her words are sharp - truly amused to have encountered someone like him.
❛ You’ve made quite the reputation for yourself, ya know? you’ve got me all fired up! Wherever there's hope, there's always despair. ❞
His demeanor remained calmer than he truly felt, the deception cloaking his anger as best he could. In all honesty, he felt more grateful than anything. For his luck to provide him with perfect opportunity like this was something unmatched - he’d do all the could to find the means to end this. To end despair.
“Despair is nothing but the means to an end, it has no hold over hope. Something so limited could never put an end to hope, there’s no way. You can cause all the misery you want-”
Komaeda gave an enthusiastic laugh, his mind reeling. A situation like this was such good luck - she was standing in the shadow of hope this whole time and had no idea.
“but against the symbols of hope in that academy, you stand no chance.”

The black bunny had fidgeted in Komaeda’s hands: between the two, the black one was more comfortable hiding away in the cage. He wasn’t terribly interested in the assortment of fingers that were stuck between the bars each day by the class of 77-B. But Sonia had a plan, one that had necessitated all of her courage to seek him out in the library, feigning an intention to find a book on rabbit care and instead preferring to seek out his advice instead. The black bunny, cowering away from his partner as Komaeda cleaned their cage, reminded her so much of Gundham. Gundham, who seemed to be one of the few people at Hope’s Peak who didn’t pay her much thought, as much as she tried to initiate conversation with him.
“You do not have to do all of the cleaning yourself, Komaeda, please let me be of assistance,” Sonia insisted, busying herself at the nearby shelves to locate the rabbits’ pellet food, fresh hay, and in perhaps a slightly extravagant choice, bottled mineral water to refill their water bowl. She nearly dropped the bag of pellet food when he inquired about her experience with small pets, her cheeks turning pink.
“N-no…not quite, at least with small pets. I have a cat at home who is the most delightful companion,” She hesitated, wondering if she should reveal the truth behind her expertise. It would look too suspicious if she knew so much on their first day: she really had no choice. “To be honest, I sought out Tanaka for his advice yesterday. I wanted this to be a success and there was no rule that we couldn’t ask for assistance. With his advice, I had hoped that this could seem less like a school assignment and more like…well…fun!”
Deep down, she’d also hoped that he would have taken enough interest to accompany her to the grocery store to continue their conversation that afternoon, but he’d made no such effort. The cake was her consolation prize for her valiant efforts to socialize with the boy that constantly occupied her thoughts. But she did not mind Nagito’s company: despite his talent causing the occasional problems for their class, his cheerful disposition never seemed to change for Sonia. He was easy to talk to.
“Just like us, strawberries are a special treat for rabbits as well. Perhaps with these, we can reassure them that we are friends, not predators.” Sonia placed the slices of cake on separate plates, along with a few slices of the bell peppers and plain strawberries, before handing one to him. “Would you like to feed one while I feed the other?”
As he worked to clean the cage, he listened to Sonia speak and smiled at the mention of her own pet. While he shared an experience with personal companions like that, he also hadn’t really ever taken care of small animals like this. He pushed back the small sense of grief at the though of his old dog, there was no need to think about the past like that and ruin the atmosphere. Just knowing they were able to work off the advice of Gundham, though, was reassuring.
“As expected of the ultimate princess! So sensible and forward thinking, it’s truly stunning to see your hope shine!”
He set down some of the cleaning supplies he held and moved to provide Sonia with some help feeding the rabbits. He’d noticed the frequent looks she’d taken toward the far more shy black rabbit, so Komaeda set the treats down on a desk before he reached down into the pen and lifted it gently into his hands.
It was nice to have been paired with the princess. She didn’t make effort to point out his odd habits - something others did frequently. Komaeda couldn’t help but appreciate the sense of being as welcome as trash like him could be around an ultimate.
Carefully holding the bunny out in his hands toward Sonia, he smiled toward her.
“I do hope I haven’t been much of a nuisance so far, Sonia. What a wonderful idea too! This one seems a bit more anxious than the other, so I’m sure it’d prefer your company.”

do you enjoy kids that calm , levelheaded , not stressed at all over the simple fact that their friends won’t stop killing each other ? do you like boys that are definitely not both the hero and the antagonist of his own story ? do you love above - average kids that are talented and aren’t just a backup plan for a failing school ? . . . you should find someone else then because none of those traits are this dumb kid but still ♡ or ↺ this to contribute hajime’s therapy fund , thank you !

Opening her own cell phone momentarily, she checks the time. School would be starting, and the stragglers of the class would be coming in now. Those remaining would be Tanaka, Ryota, Akane, and finally… Komaeda. Certainly being over a few minutes, but it certainly could be forgiven just this once!
“I would have a problem if you didn’t show up at all. We’re having a good streak going! I’m glad you’re here though, Komaeda. Any later, I have had the class go on a little hunt for you! Was everything alright this morning?”
Gesturing to the inside of the room, Chisa smiles brightly to her student. Now that makes the class complete! “Please feel free to take your seat. There’s not many morning announcements, so homeroom is just free time.”
Walking up to her, Komaeda paused for a moment to catch his breath. He didn’t want to bother her with a summary of how messy is morning was - it was a complicated story. Just knowing that everybody else was still attending on time and everyday made his heart flutter. All these symbols of hope gathering together without fail was all thanks to Yukizome, so it was an honor for him to even speak with her one-on-one like this.
“Aha, I wouldn’t want to cause such unnecessary tasks like that, trash like me isn’t worth the effort. I’ll do my best to be earlier next time.”
Reaching a hand up, he grabbed the strap of his back on his shoulder and readjusted it. Komaeda passed a nod toward her to acknowledge the instruction as he stepped into the classroom.

oh, man. did he seriously get put with the only person in hope’s peak with more chaotic energy than he did? kokichi wasn’t sure if he’d just won the lottery or gotten whacked by the bad luck fairy. he supposed that the only way to really find out was to see how this went … and he was almost overwhelmed by excitement.
“ don’t worry, komaeda - chan. i probably won’t throw you into the dumpster before we’re done. depends on how bad your luck screws us over. ”
he hummed thoughtfully. “ what could the ultimate luck and the ultimate supreme leader even come up with for a festival? ”
As Ouma spoke to him, Komaeda rounded around a desk beside him and took a seat. Surely there was something he could be of use for - but coming up with an idea for a festival like this wasn’t really his forte; not much was.
“Aha, I wouldn’t blame you if you did, trash like me probably belongs there anyhow.”
His luck though - that could be an interesting addition to their idea. Maybe an activity for their peers that leaves something up to chance. Giving a quick look around the room before redirecting his focus back to Ouma, he saw the different groups talking through excitement. He had to think of something entertaining, scum like him had no place to ruin such a hope filled occasion for Ouma!
“Perhaps we could do something interactive! Some people might be setting up stands for snacks and things, so maybe ours could be an activity of some kind? Unless you prefer something else of course, Ouma-kun! Do you have anything in mind?”
aHH ruri this is too kinddd ;-; tysm~! & the same right back at u~! hopefuly we can write some more soon and raise some hell have amami and komaeda bond :-)

A fateful encounter. Time slowed as she passed the lucky student, red nails roughly pulling the sleeve of Komaeda’s jacket bringing his pace to a full stop. A lingering glare before a devilish grin begins to form.
❛ You’re Nagito Komaeda, right? do you believe in fate, Komaeda? ❞
A small burst of air flew out of him as he was pulled to a halt. The second Komaeda turned his head to the voice now speaking to him, his eyes grew wide and his heart rate sped up. The world around them seemed to fade, passing by silently and in slow motion.
He might not believe in fate, but he believed in his luck. His eyes narrowed as he tried to tug his arm from Enoshima’s grip.
“My luck is the one thing I have Enoshima-san. To think it’d led me to you...Ah, how wonderfully lucky I am.”
