my friend @ashysnaps drew their jackalope sona and showed me and i thought it was super fucking cute, so i decided to do a draw over since i havent done pixel art in so long!

i stopped at flat colors since i'm not sure about this color palette i chose, but i might do an anti-aliasing and shading pass later

i see a lot of artists being good businesspeople and there’s an art in that itself. in selling your work and finding homes for your style and knowing how to market . but it’s not the only way to be an artist and the more it felt like i was trying to give the appearance of a brand the less i felt like an individual dude just making stuff. the pull these days is “what new form of merch can i put my art on and sell before others find my manu” and that is more product production than i ever really wanted to do. and also makes me feel bad about using overseas labor. because if it’s produced in the states it’s prob too expensive for smaller artists. so i personally stopped. i still want to sell my work but im not sure how. it’s important to me to know the people who print my stickers and i tried to spread that but i dont blame other artists pinching pennies + going to larger companies with smaller prices. but turning my art into mini capitalism was starting to feel like i was living a life that couldn’t align with my values if i was being honest about it. i know some other ppl experience this and im sure some ppl are just in too deep making the bread and dont want to stop being a source of income. its tough out here and i sympathize with everyone. there’s also 100% domestic and individually-run projects i had opportunities to be part of that i let slip thru my fingers. i’m not an angel either lol. there’s no conclusion here just a lot of hard conversations

#OP I know exactly how you feel #I remember losing a part of my art when I decided to primarily sell merch #It was fun and I loved the community when I would sell locally at markets #But the art aspect lost some meaning to me and I wasn't having fun anymore #Then when I stopped selling merch I couldn't make art for like a year afterwords because I didn't know how to make art that wasn't to sell #But op I also have stickers and a button by you that I really treasure and I want you to know that ur art always rlly inspired and moved me

Im Im opening up commissions again!

I had to leave my full time job in mental health earlier this year, due to me losing the sight in one of my eyes.I’ve been job hunting and last week i finally got the surgery I need to hopefully restore my vision just last week. In the meantime time Im still waiting on unemployment payments to come through, and it may be another few week before I start receiving any kind of money.

Where that leaves me is that my financial situation is becoming very strained very quickly. Unfortunately being blind for a while has accrued mea bunch of scary medical debt

Any commissions at this time would be super helpful in keeping me stable during this uncertain time.

-I have two main art styles, one that is line-less and one with thick, bold, rounded lineart. Please feel free to check out my two art styles beforehand and let me know which style you would prefer .
