Sleeping makes squawks and squeaks

and tosses in her dreams

knowing things I'll never understand,

only waiting to grasp my hand.

Breathing breaks my heart

like when it walked out of my chest

into my arms she crawls

with every waking step.

I've cast out all doubt

that I'd never be enough

my forgiveness is my own

and every judgment swept.

We can learn this thing together

my love will always stay strong

you've connected me to the universe greater

then my mind could comprehend.

Be with me tomorrow

and everyday hence

I'll stay with you forever

and give you every chance.

I hold that tighter than ever

These eyes show me the universe and in them I see the stars with them your eye lids close and again your breathe blows me away. I saw the stars beyond all those little squalls and misplaced tears but through it all I can feel love give no quarter as your heart beats under you chest. As your eye lids close I know that you're safe and feel it with her arms around you I never loved so deeply. These small tokens and little fingers clasp not around my finger but act as the flange to my heart.

My life has yet to find the right punctuation seeing as that the duration of it has yet to be determined. Most importantly the vast majority has yet to be seen as an exclamation or a question, let alone just being. I have a preference to long windedness, these big winding webs of words they spend time melding together and I have a better time watching myself than actually being apart of it. So how can I close an open thought, how do I even close the question? No need for anything fancy or most of all meaningless; I have everything I need right here.

My mom always taught me yell or fight back. Boys would be mean and I would yell back. I would get my ass pinched and I would smack them as hard as I could.

Who alway got in trouble? Me.

They would call my mother and she always came in and lectures my teachers and threatened to sue for making her miss work and treating me poorly.

She always taught my brothers to respect women. The only fights my brothers ever got in was defending women from someone else.

The school tried to call my father once instead of my mother on us. He came in in his full preacher outfit (being a preacher and all) and gave them an entire sermon on what would Jesus day of he was called in. They decided dealing with my mom was better.

I think my favorite story of this is when some kid snapped my bra and I turned around, didn’t even think about it, and punched that little motherfucker right in the nose.

So naturally, I end up in the principal’s office, refusing to apologize. 

“He shouldn’t have put his hands on me and I wouldn’t have hit him!” That’s the only thing I was saying.

These people had the unfortunate luck of catching my dad at home, instead of my mom. So he comes fucking sauntering in there, like he’s Clint fucking Eastwood in some western movie and looks at me. 

“Melissa, did you punch him?” 

“Yes.” I said. 

“Why?” 

“Because he snapped my bra strap.” 

And he turns his squinty eyed glare to the principal and says, “You’re telling me my daughter is in trouble because that squirrely looking kid put his hands on her and she chose to defend herself? That’s what you are saying to me.” 

“Well, sir-” The man kind of stuttered because my dad is kind of intimidating in the quiet sort of way that kind of whispers in the back of your mind that this person could be dangerous. “Melissa did make it physical.” 

“No. That kid put his hands on my daughter. Are you saying my daughter cannot defend herself when some boy decides to put hands on her? Is that what you are teaching my girl?” 

I didn’t get suspended that day.

i call all my friends after 20 years of no contact and invite them to visit me at my house, which is a farm in the middle of nowhere. they approach the farm gates and i appear looking like this

i lead you into the barn where i live and offer you snacks and refreshments. it’s a bowl of minnows and 3 caprisun pouches

i tell you that it’s fine, leaves more for me, but you can tell im a little hurt. we watch cutthroat kitchen in silence, i seem to be attempting to drink my caprisun through my gas mask, but im failing miserably. you say nothing.

Time Spent Under the Mattress

Waves make way for wavelengths of orange turned blue with hints of tangerine and rose petals that fell off the bed and made a nest for themselves amongst the carpet caravan. They are encrusting the dull spaces with flakes, looking like dead flesh which friction could never have even had caused the furnaces to cool their unrepentant jets. By the holy night’s cloud, the heap of toiled labors made out a sort of chrysalis that manifested its shape into a clover field of cotton. However loving, or frightful, it all must seem to a bed bug that could never get the thought of his mother singing him to sleep every night, out of his head.

Here Comes a Thought - the Demo

Sticks of Copper, Organic Bird

There is truth behind a crow’s song hacking up a lung out on the sidewalk it was made from tar in the first place.

It stopped feeling right a while ago the black river doesn’t drive my mentality so is it habit, or is it a fix?

Wheezing makes for a bloody cacophony a cocktail of sound molded by prehistoric gestures of calming my nerves.

I can stop this unholy rapture, this mildly soothing mind mixer that I thought was a blessing but turned out to be dragging me down.
