We've gotten basic cards for all the characters, with the art that was released for them except for Yuri! This art (below) is yet to make an appearance. Saving the main character for last, hmm?
Also that brown belt/sling connects to a bag?!
the fact that we've gotten a several special cards for Yuri (Towards the Endpoint of Casuality, Gnosia Yuri, and my favorite... World Line Where They Became a Woman Yuri.)
i don't even know how to play the game OR read japanese I just think the cards look cool. also the fact gnosia is now part of a TCG is just amazing to me.
thinking about the gnosia soundtrack from the anime and as a music lover/musician I just love the violins/string instruments in blue sky blue star
yes this is the second time i've posted about blue sky blue star but seriously just listen to the instrumental version the part where the strings have the melody and the drums pick up at the end then ending with the piano is just-
Okay...so I haven't played Gnosia. I've only watched the anime (and a playthrough of the game because I was tired of waiting but I do really really want to play the game) BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT.
The Gnosia anime has 21 episodes in total- pretty good for a game adaptation- especially for something that might be considered more 'niche' than most fandoms. (like, if I told a random person about it, they would have no idea what it was)
so i'm yapping about setsuri again who would've guessed
Anyways. When I first watched the anime, I didn't really suspect that something was going on between the two until Episode 13, and my suspicions weren't really confirmed until Episode 18/19. What I love about these two is that their relationship isn't absolutely shoved in your face- it can be interpreted how you want. Romantic? Sure. Platonic? Sure. A secret third thing that can't be named? Go ahead!
I'm not really a big shipper in general, and while I do like romance, I just...don't like overt ships that include the same love stories over and over again. But with Setsu and Yuri, something is just...different with the two. (They did change my brain chemistry for REAL)
Obviously, the anime makes it clear that these two do care for each other, in whichever way you like to interpret. But the concept of just...saving each other should be a common trope or SOMETHING. The way they always look at each other is just...ugh so perfect because you can tell that the other person is precious to them. (more present with Setsu but Yuri has their moments too)
While I have seen some posts about how Setsu is more serious in the anime, I still love their character! I loved the conversation that they had with Yuri on the Ethics of Looping. They're in the military, and the writers really leaned into that aspect of their character. In the game, Setsu will share information willingly with the character, while in the anime, Setsu never really wants to share info with Yuri because of the fact that either of them could be Gnosia. (ofc, when they do share in ep 4 they ARE gnosia) I think it's because of the fact that each worldline is one chance for all the other characters on board. I actually think this was a good choice. For one, it gives Yuri agency to learn about the crew on their own, and for another, Yuri is already playing the game on easy mode with the romance events. They just really pull everyone, don't they? (Also, Setsu must have had a bad time trying to get info on Sha-Ming, haha.)
Yuri, on the other hand, is a character for a protagonist who is faceless and doesn't really have a set name in the game. Where the Player is, well, us placing ourselves into the universe of Gnosia, Yuri is someone who the viewers watch- they already belong in that universe. (well, it's complicated because of their existence as a Bug.) While they do initially start out as a blank slate because of how they have no memories and have no idea What's Going On, they slowly develop into their own character with their own thoughts, feelings, and memories. While they are the stand-in for the player, they are also apparently the Finest Person Aboard the D.Q.O. and someone who wants to make sure everyone has a happy ending, no matter how long it takes for them to find it. And regardless of the absolutely insane situations they end up in, they always stay relatively calm and positive. (save for episode 17 that hydraulic press was INSANE what the heck Yuri)
My point here? Setsuri feels different in terms of romance. I've read a lot of books, watched a lot of shows, and been a part of many different fandoms. Usually, I'll finish something and move on, being not particularly enthused by the romance. My reaction will usually be: "Oh, that's cute." and move on. Maybe the reason is because Setsu and Yuri's relationship isn't based on physical attraction or anything like that. It's because they chose each other, again and again, despite all the hardships they endured. They found each other across universes and worldlines, and both of them never gave up on finding each other again.
anyways that's my mini essay yap about setsuri who else wants to yap about them
