Fucks me up to think about how trans men’s rights to things like education, voting, employment, etc. are all dependent on cis women having the same rights but trans men’s rights to healthcare access (including gender affirming care and gynecological/reproductive care), protection from abuse (aka access to shelters for DV victims), or even basic inclusion in activism, legal protections, and even fucking language, are not even a little bit cis women’s problem despite cis women often seeing us asking for these things as somehow an attack on them.

I can vote in favor of legalizing abortion. That’s awesome. But they can easily write the law in such a way that only if you’re legally female do you get to have access to abortion. Meaning trans men who legally changed their gender marker can be denied. Or if they aren’t then insurance companies can decide not to cover it because of the aforementioned gender marker while they would have no problem providing coverage for a cis woman. And when trans men try to draw attention to this and beg to be included so that we can have the same rights as cis women, we’re making a women’s issue about men and we’re raging misogynists and gender traitors and TMRAs. Because god forbid we consider that maybe a man might need an abortion too.

here are some additional requirements I would add to the United States presidency:

you are not eligible for the presidency if you are over the age of 65, if you turn 65 in office, that is fine but you cannot campaign if you are over 65

you cannot be president if you have a personal net worth over $8 million

you cannot be presidency if you have had to file for bankruptcy in a business venture

you cannot be president if you cannot pass a basic neurological exam

you cannot be president if you have been convicted of or found liable for any sex crime, domestic violence or sexual harassment. unproven allegations are cause for investigation and can result in immediate termination from office if proven.

you cannot be president if you never smoked weed out of a soda can in high school

you have to be up to date on all of your shots and forklift certification

Hey does anyone remember when a transgender adult man with cerebral palsy got top surgery of his own accord and then posted about it in celebration, and then transphobes:

Lied and said he was non-verbal

Lied and said he was incapable of communication

Lied and said he had not gotten the surgery of his own accord

Lied and said his "guardians decided [he] was trans"

Got MGT to call a procedure done on a consenting adult "criminal" just because he had cerebral palsy

Mass reported his video and his account, which he ran, until facebook terminated his account for "child exploitation" despite it being his account, him being an adult, and him not being exploited

Ableism and transphobia are inseperable. Just like ableism was used to prop up bigotry throughout history, now it is being used to deny transgender people bodily autonomy the same way it is used to deny disabled people bodily autonomy. It's not a coincidence that so much of the rights transphobic rhetoric is focused on labelling us as "mentally ill". They don't think any disabled people, let alone mentally ill people should have independence or liberation.
