Please read before requesting and be respectful ⤵️
Requests are open for anyone. If you are unsure if I will write for a player if I have not before, please send it in. I will let you know if I am comfortable or not writing for that player.
I do not write smut for anyone under 20.
If they are 18, fluff is okay, but anything sexual (even hinted at) will not be written. It will be deleted from my box.
I have one in the works, we’ll see if it actually gets fully written and posted. I have some of it written, but I’ll be in ATL this weekend so I’m hoping to have it done by Thursday.
okay but imagine you and vince adopting a dog together and the dog just could not give a SHIT about him and it’s high key bothers him all the time when he sees how much the dog loves you
Adopting a Dog - V. Dunn
“She doesn’t like me.”
“What are you talking about, Vince?” You sighed as you looked toward your boyfriend who had been trying to win the small miniature Aussie over for the last fifteen minutes.
He tried everything.
Treats.
Toys.
Nothing would make that sweet girl cross over to Vince.
During the entire duration of your scheduled visit with her, she stay by your side; her head resting on you thigh as she slowly dozed off as you pet her.
“You do realize she’s basically claimed me as hers and we have to take her, right?”
Vince leaned his head against the concrete wall, Gus curly hair slightly jarring as he did, “I figured.” He grumbled out.
“She’s supposed to be my dog anyways, remember?” You reminded him.
After all, it was his idea to get a dog for you. That way you’d have a companion in the city you had just moved to.
Granted, you had the other wives and girlfriends in Seattle, but you didn’t know anyone other than them here.
Vince had been in seattle for over two years, fixing to head into his third season, but you had only been here for a few months.
You had decided not to move from St. Louis when he did, keeping the apartment you two had been living in while he became accustomed to the Seattle life.
You both trusted each other enough to make the long distance work until you were able to make the move to Washington with him.
“I know,” he sighed, “I just hoped she’d be both of ours and not just one sided.” He added, “How about we keep looking and not decide on the first one that gives us a cute face?”
“But look at this little face.” You said in a baby voice as you picked the Merle puppy up. Her blue eyes, that coincidentally matched Vince’s, darting towards Vince as she snuggled her head against your cheek, “She’s so sweet, V. We need her.”
Vince sighed and ran his hand through his hair, knowing he was losing this battle and that you were dead set on this.
You weren’t leaving here without this puppy- come hell or high water.
She was coming home with you, whether Vince liked it or not.
And he knew it.
**
“I technically picked her out and she likes you better.”
“And that’s my problem how?” You asked as you petted Harlow’s head, her melting into your touch as Vince glared at the two of you from across the couch, “When you got it, you got it.” You shrugged, which just annoyed him even further.
“I’ve never had a dog not like me and we just had to bring home the one that doesn’t like me.”
“You’re never going to let this go, are you?” You sighed as you looked towards him, his eyes on Harlow as she rested her head on her paws.
“Not at all.” He grumbled under his breath as he pulled out his phone. He quietly snapped a photo of the two of you as Harlow had moved to your chest by this point and was currently lying on your with her head buried in the crook of your neck, your hand lying on her small body.
**
It had been a few days since you and Vince had adopted Harlow, her slowly adjusting to having Vince home during the day and you both at night.
She still hadn’t came around to loving Vince as much as she loves you, but you really thought she would eventually.
Vince was currently home with her as he took a pre game nap on the couch, instead of in your room.
He was trying to bribe the dog over to him while laying down, which wasn’t working when he had finally fell asleep on the couch.
Harlow slowly crept her way over to him, her head nuzzling on his bicep as soft snores left his mouth.
You had walked through the front door, catching the two cuddling on the couch, a soft blanket pooling around Vince’s waist. A soft smile crept onto your face.
“Told you she liked you.” You whispered to yourself as you walked over behind the couch to press a soft kiss to Vince’s forehead, giving Harlow a soft pet.
Her eyes opened, seeing you standing there but she softly closed them back as she snuggled her head in the crook of his neck. Vince tugged at the blanket, his hands crossing over his torso.
The smile stayed on your face as you walked into the kitchen. She heard a bag open and next thing you knew, Harlow was at your feet, waiting for you to drop something.
A little bit had passed and dinner was finally ready. All you were waiting for was for Vince to wake up.
“When did you get home?” You felt arms around your waist, his forehead resting on your back.
He was still shirtless and you could feel his warmth radiating through your dress shirt, his hands coming around to rest on your stomach.
“About a hour ago, let you keep sleeping.” You said as you turned around in his arm, “but you had a little visitor that took a nap with you.” You grinned as your hands ran across his chest before looking down at the puppy that was staring up at the two of you.
“What?”
“Low was laying with you when I walked in,” you shrugged, “Seems like someone does, in fact, like you.”
The mention of her name caused her to perk her ears as she walked over, pawing at Vince’s leg. He bent down to pick her up, quickly cuddling her to his chest.
“Who knew such a big, strong man would turn into a puddle for a puppy?” You grinned at him as you pet Harlow’s head before placing a kiss on Vince’s cheek, “Dinners ready.”
“You’re the best.” He said, ignoring the first part.
“I know.” You chuckled as you walked down the hall to your shared room.
Also if a player has been traded or signed somewhere else for what I’m posting, I am not updating it on my masterlist just yet. I’m just cleaning out my drafts right now.
I will in time, just not right now. So if you’re looking for someone’s specific and they’re not on their new teams list, please go to their old team on my list
Hehe, the gif just so happens to have Olson AND Fried in it.
Max isn’t a Brave anymore, but in my timeline (for now), he still is. Mainly bc these were written like.. going on almost 2 years ago
———————————————————————————-
“That’s Olson’s sister?” Ozzie asked as his mouth dropped, “How did I not put this together?”
“It is.” Max sighed.
He watched you as you bounced towards him and his teammate, a bright smile that closely resembled Matt’s on your face as you stood in front of your boyfriend of a little over a year. You had been doing a paid internship that would turn into a full time job after six months with the Braves after graduating from University of Tennessee. You were now almost a year and a half into that full time job with them. The Braves organization knew you had been dating Max for some time after your internship had ended, but still chose you to come on board with them.
You and Max had been close since the beginning of your career with the Braves. He was the first friend you had made during your internship, it leading to more than just friends.
Word had broken out in the community that Matt Olson with the Oakland Athletic’s was being traded to Atlanta.
A hometown boy was coming home.
And that just so happened to be the team your boyfriend played for.
The boyfriend your brother still didn’t know really existed.
His now teammate.
Matt knew you were dating someone, but he never pushed to figure it out as he knew you’d tell him when you felt ready.
And with this news, you sort of didn’t have a choice.
“Did you hear?” You grinned as you pressed a soft kiss to Max’s cheek, a few more teammates gathering around.
“Hear what?” Austin Riley asked as he walked closer to where you two, Ozzie, Austin’s wife Anna, Dansby, and his fiancé were currently standing. It was spring training family day so all the wives and girlfriends and their kids were at the park for the day.
“My brother is coming home!” You grinned, “He’ll be in in just a few hours from what mom said.”
Max and Dansby played like they didn’t know, Dansby knowing your brother from many years ago. Dansby knew you and your brother, but chose not to say anything as it wasn’t his place to interfere.
Max always knew who your brother was, but he has never had an actual encounter with him as your boyfriend- just as the pitcher from the opposing team.
“That’s exciting!” Austin grinned, “What does he do?”
You gave Austin a weird look, “You really don’t know, do you?” You asked.
Austin shook his head as his eyes bounced between the, now, Max’s pale face and your excited one.
“My older brother is Matt. Matt Olson, first base for Oakland- well now Atlanta.”
Austin’s eyes widened at your confession before he barked out a laugh. His eyes stayed on Max, “Good luck. You’re going to need it.” He patted his pitched on the shoulder before walking away.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You looked towards Max, who just offered a shrug.
“C’mon, let’s go get our photo taken.” Max guided you away as he tried to change the subject.
**
“Matt.” You grinned as you wrapped your arms around the neck of your older brother, “I missed you so much.” You admitted as you felt his body rumble.
“Missed you too, kiddo.” You felt him press a kiss to the side of your head, “Really missed you.”
You and Matt were extremely close, despite the small age gap between you two.
Not saying you were an accident, but you were an accident.
Matt being gone to the west coast took a toll on you, but never hurt your relationship. You two were closer than ever.
Matt had just finished his presser for his new contract. You were lucky enough to get to see it in person as he had arrived nearly a hour ago to Florida.
You both pulled away from the hug as Snit walked over to greet his newest player before asking you to show him around the ST clubhouse.
With there being female staff around, the guys didn’t walk around half dressed anymore so you didn’t have to worry about that as you brought Matt into the locker room.
You introduced him to his new teammates, them accepting him with open arms.
He was finally introduced properly to Max, them quickly bro hugging before Max continued getting ready.
You handed Matt his jersey, him setting on the rack in his stall.
He turned around to face you, a smile on his face, “Think I’m gonna like it here.” He grinned as he pulled you back in for a hug.
***
It was almost a week later since Matt had been traded and almost all of the organization had went out for dinner, except you and Max, plus a few others. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for you and Max not to go, so when Matt started asking questions, Ozzie was the first to jump in and talk about how it was normal for you two to hang it up early.
“I should probably get going.” You whispered next to Max in his hotel room, “before everyone gets back.”
“Don’t go.” He said between kisses, “Please. Stay tonight.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea Max,” you admitted once he pulled away, “Not with Matt not knowing just yet.”
“But you’re here.” He said, “So just spend the night with me? I don’t want you to leave just yet.”
You let out a conflicted sigh before grabbing one of Max’s shirts from his suitcase.
“Fine, but if he finds out, it’s your head he’s coming after.”
Max grinned as he accepted that.
It wasn’t long after the sun had risen that there was a knock on the door.
It wasn’t loud and honestly if you hadn’t been dozing in and out of sleep, you wouldn’t have heard it.
“Max?” You heard your older brothers voice from outside the door.
“Fuck.” Your eyes widened, “Max. Wake up.” You shook your sleeping boyfriend causing him to raise his head in a panic, “Matt is outside.”
Max let his head drop onto the pillow before letting out a groan.
“Max, I can hear you in there.” Matt sighed, “I cant find Y/N. No one has seen her since last night.” He continued, “You’re the last one that was seen with her..”
The desperation in his voice pulled at your heart; he was just worried about you.
“Hold on a minute.” Max said loud enough for him to hear as you tugged on a pair of Max’s sweatpants.
Max walked over to the door, seeing a frazzled Matt standing there, “Come in.”
You were sitting on the bed in Max’s t-shirt that very clearly read “Property of Atlanta” with a 54 on the right shoulder.
Matt started putting the pieces together. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out, especially after what Ozzie had told Matt the night before and now the scene before him.
“Don’t be mad.”
“You didn’t tell me.”
“I didn’t want you to be mad.” You said, “It’s too early for this, Matt.” You ran your hand over your face.
Matt let out a frustrated sigh, “I’m not mad at you for dating Max- I’m mad because you didn’t tell me,” he admitted, “I thought we were closer than that.”
You pulled your lips between your teeth as you heard the hurt in his voice, “I’m sorry.”
Matt just nodded before he patted your shoulder, “Well talk later.. alone.” He said, hurt still lacing his voice, before retreating out of the room, announcing to the few that had been trying to help ‘find’ you that he had, indeed, found you.
“Well there’s that.” Max softly spoke as you flopped back on the bed, a groan leaving your lips, “It could be worse,” he added, “He could be mad you’re dating me and hate my guts.”
“You’re not helping, Max.”
“Let’s go back to bed and you can talk to him later.” He said as he crawled back into bed, you scooting up the bed before curling into his chest, “He won’t be mad at you long, baby.” He added.
***
Boy, was Max wrong.
It had been almost three weeks since Matt was traded and two weeks since Matt had last spoken to you, only speaking when he absolutely had to. Matt was still speaking to Max, joking around, and just overall having a good time with him; which only made this situation hurt worse for you.
You had texted Matt a few times outside of work, only to not get a response.
“Anything new?” Max asked as he walked next to you.
You shook your head, fearing your voice would crack and cause you to lose it. You hadn’t said anything about Matt to Max so you knew sooner or later he was going to bring it up.
Max didn’t know what to say so you two just walked to the coffee bar in silence.
It wasn’t comfortable, but it wasn’t awkward either. It was just silent.
“I’m sorry.” He admitted once you two sat at the table, “Had I known this was going to happen, I wouldn’t have let him in.”
“But you didn’t and neither did I so it’s okay.” You admitted as you slumped back in your seat in the facility dining hall, “It’s just him being protective. It’ll blow over sooner or later.” You stated as a comfortable silence fell over the two of you.
A few other players and staff had filed in, them saying their usual good mornings to you both, them finding you in the corner of the room with two coffees wasn’t an unusual sight for them. This was practically routine for you and Max since the beginning of of your first Spring Training, almost two years ago.
Matt and Austin entered the room, yours and Max’s conversation almost stopping immediately as you and Matt made eye contact before nodded his head towards the door.
You pointed at yourself, Matt giving you a nod causing you to scramble to get up.
If he was willing to talk to you, you were going to jump on that chance before he went cold again.
Tears were already starting to prick at your eyes as Matt held a conference room door open for you two to talk in.
You turned around to face him as he shut the door, tears already starting to stream down your cheeks.
“No- don’t cry.” He whispered as his heart started to break, seeing his little sister crying, “I’m sorry. I just couldn’t find the right words to say.”
“So you just shut me out?” You cried into his chest, “That hurt worse than you being mad. I would have much rather you been mad at me and speaking than being cold towards me.”
“I know- please stop crying.” He swayed you both back and forth as he spoke, “I just didn’t know how to take that my new teammate was dating my only little sister.” He admitted as he rested his head on yours, “and I’m not mad about you and Max because if you’re happy, I’m happy. I was hurt about you keeping it from me. That’s what bothered me.” He continued, “I figured you’d tell me eventually, but I hate I had to find out the way I did.”
“Trust me, I do too.” You whispered into his chest as you felt his arms squeeze you tighter, “I never want to feel like this again. I don’t want you to not be speaking to me, Matt.”
Knowing how much his cold shoulder had affected you really was pulling at his heart and was causing guilt to run through him.
“I know you didn’t mean any harm in keeping it from me.” He added, “I’m sorry for how I acted.”
“I’m sorry for keeping it from you.”
You two rocked back and forth as you continued to calm down, wrapped in your big brothers arms.
“Are we okay?” You sheepishly asked, your voice cracking, your head still buried in his chest.
“We were never not okay, Y/N.” He said as he pressed a gentle kiss to your head, “I was just being a jerk. I was scared of you getting hurt by him. I was upset you kept it from me, which I understand why.” He chuckled, “i would have kept it from me too.”
“He’s not going to do that.” You whispered, “Max would never.”
“I know.” He agreed, “He looks at you how dad looks at mom.”
“And how’s that?”
“Like she hung the moon and the stars.”
Tears flooded again as you tightened your grip on him.
“Shit, I didn’t mean to make you cry again.” He chuckled as he reciprocated your tight hug.
“They’re happy tears, Matt.” You sniffled, “All I wanted was for something like what they have or something like you and Nicole and I think I finally found it.”
“In my jersey.” He smirked as he tossed his arm over your shoulder as he guided you to the dugout, where his teammates were currently crowded and around the field.
“Stop.” Your face flushed as you felt his hands rubbing up and down your biceps. It wasn’t anything new that when Gunnar would touch you, even accidentally, your face turn as red as a cherry.
You had always liked him, but this was nothing more than friends to him.
Or at least you thought.
“Stop what?” He asked absentmindedly as you stood at the top of the stairs.
Family day had quickly approached and when Gunnar and his, now ex, girlfriend broke up a few months ago, he asked if you wanted to come up form Alabama to see him for a week or two. The weeks you both agreed on just so happened to be when the Orioles were doing stuff for the players.
“Stop what you’re doing, Henderson.”
“I’m not doing anything!” He barked out a laugh as he caught the attention of his teammates, who had just realized the two of you were there.
“Who’s this Gunnar?” A blonde that almost resembled a golden retriever asked, “You didn’t say anyone was coming.”
“This is Y/N, Adley.” Gunnar said, his hands still dancing up your arms, “She’s a friend from back home.”
Adley smirked before introducing himself to you, along with the few others.
A few of them looking familiar because when Gunnar was in Triple-A, you did watch a few of games.
“Hey Gunnar!” You heard from behind the two of you, seeing a tall man walking towards you two, Gunnar meeting him half way.
Adley took this as an opportunity to wave you down into the dugout, a grin on his lips as the two of you watched Gunnar talk to Felix, the Orioles closer.
“So what’s your intentions with our Gunnar?” He blurted out causing you to whip your head to face him.
“Uh- what?”
“You heard me, pipsqueak.”
Your mouth dropped, not expecting that before you chuckled, “We’re just friends. Have been since elementary school; you don’t have to worry about me hurting your friend, Adley.”
**
“Working together again, it’s just like old times.” Gunnar grinned as he tossed his arm over your shoulder.
“Except we’re not.” You pointed out, “This isn’t even a job.” You chuckled, “I’m just taking photos of the park and your team photos.”
The teams photographer had fallen sick with a 24 hour bug, which just so happened to fall on team picture day. Gunnar knew you were bringing your camera and offered your services and obviously, you couldn’t turn it down, even if you wanted to.
You didn’t want to make a bad impression on his teammates and friends.
“Can you stop talking for like.. forever?” He said causing you to roll your eyes at him, ‘-and kiss me,’ he thought, but didn’t voice it. “You’re getting liar for this- you can even put it on your resume.” He pointed out, “and make sure your get my good side too.” He gave you a toothy grin as he walked backwards towards the other boys standing on stands for the photo.
“1.. 2… 3…” you counted down.
*click*
You took a couple more photos, waiting to get approval on them before you put up your camera.
“Looks good, pipsqueak.” Adley leaned over your shoulder, “Man, you made Gunnar actually look good.” He joked as Gunnar neared you two.
“Are you going to ever drop that nick name?”
“Now that he knows you hate it,” Gunnar tossed his arm around your shoulder, “It’s sticking.”
You rolled your eyes as Gunnar guided you towards the dugout as you watch them all grab their gear.
You were taking new headshots for the MLB player profiles as well.
“Why did I agree to this?”
“The money.” Cedric shrugged as he walked by.
“Right.” You whispered to yourself.
You didn’t do it because of the pretty paycheck the Orioles were offering, but you did it because Gunnar asked you to.
That’s the only reason you did it. You could have cared less about the money.
You did it because of the blonde haired boy that was laughing at something stupid that one of his teammates said.
The boy you absolutely adored with your heart and soul.
The one you were in love with.
**
“How is it you always know what i need, huh?” Gunnar asked as he grabbed the water bottle you had stretched out to him.
“It’s a hot day, Gun..” You chuckled as he opened the bottle, “and I’ve always been there to hand you your water,” you trailed off, “Besides you need to hydrate anyways. You have-“
“Can you realize I’m flirting with you and not give me a realistic answer?” He asked as he cut you off, a soft laugh escaping his lips.
“Oh.” You raised your eyebrows at him, “I didn’t-“
“I have been since we were kids, Y/N.” He said as he took a step closer, “Don’t act like you’re just now noticing this.”
“I’m not, but you were flirting with everyone, Henderson.”
“But I only had my eyes on you.” He licked his lips before continuing, “One date.”
“What?”
“Let me take you out on one date while you’re up here. If it feels wrong, we’ll call it and stay friends.” He simply shrugged as your eyes widened.
“Okay.” You agreed, “One date.”
What’s the worst that could happen?
**
The date didn’t go terrible at all.
Matter of fact, it was one of the best ones you had ever been on.
You somehow had fallen asleep in Gunnar’s bed, his arm tightly around your waist, your back flush to his chest.
“Gunnar.” You rubbed his arm, “We uh- we fell asleep.”
“Morning gorgeous.” He muttered as he cracked one eye open, a sleepy grin on his lips, “More like you fell asleep mid conversation and I wasn’t making you move.” He admitted as you felt his thumb rub across your rib cage, “It’s not every day you wake up with a pretty girl in your bed.”
“I didn’t mean-“
“I’m just glad you’re here.” He whispered into your back, snuggling you closer, “Stay. Please.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” He popped his head up, “No argument? Nothing?”
“Nope.” You said as you rolled over in his arms, “I’ve wanted this. I’ve wanted you for as long as I could remember.”
“I never thought I’d hear you say those words.” He murmured as his right hand went to the back of your head, pulling your lips to meet his, “I’m glad you finally said them.”
“Your heart is beating so fast right now.” Adley chuckled as he wrapped his arm around you, “It’s probably from all the caffeine and the lack of sleep you’ve had.”
“I didn’t ask.” You said as you tapped your pencil against your textbook.
“I’m offering my opinion.” He grinned as he grabbed the pencil, “It’s free.”
“Once again; I didn’t ask.” You snatched the pencil back.
“You need a nap.” He pointed out, “4 hours of sleep and 3 Red Bulls aren’t cutting it.”
“Don’t forget the two coffees tossed in between class.”
Adley raised his eyebrows at you before shaking his head, “You’re addicted.”
“It’s called being a tired college student.”
“It’s called not prioritizing yourself.”
“Are we really having this argument again?” You sighed as you slammed your pencil down on the book.
“Well, no.” He said, “because whether you want to, you’re taking a nap and you’re going to rest some. That book will be here when you wake up.” He said as he emphasized what you were going to be doing.
“I don’t-“
“You do.” He sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose, “You physically cannot run off of a few hours of sleep and caffeine.”
“I have been since the start of the semester.”
“And that’s exactly why you’ve been grouchy and sick consistently.” He pointed out, “because you’re not taking care of yourself, Y/N.” He said, “Please, just let me help.” He continued, “I’m begging.”
“Promise you’ll still be here when I wake up?”
“Yes,” he chuckled as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head before pushing you down on the couch, tugging the blanket over you two as he laid down beside you, “Now, go to sleep.”
“You don’t have practice, right?” You asked as you looked up at him.
“Just the game tonight.” He rolled his eyes, “Which if you don’t close those eyes and get some sleep, you won’t be going.” He raised his eyebrows, “So go to sleep.”
“Fine-“ you said as you snuggled your head into his chest, “Ad?”
“Hm?” He said, “I swear if this is something stupid-“
“I love you.”
Silence filled the room as Adley’s breath was caught in his throat.
“I’m sorry-“ you started as you looked up at him, “I shouldn’t-“
Adley cut you off, his lips pressing softly against yours, “I’m so glad to hear you say that,” he murmured, “I’ve been in love with you for a long time now- since Gunnar brought you around.” He admitted, “I love you- so much.”
“Who’s this?” Adley asked as you walked with Gunnar, his arm around your shoulder.
Adley’s eyes couldn’t help but trace your body all the way from top to bottom.
He thought you were stunning.
But you were standing with Gunnar and honestly, he wasn’t sure if you were with him or just friends.
Gunnar didn’t have a reputation of just dating anyone, but Adley knew he didn’t bring girls around without them being something to him.
He also knew that Gunnar and his girlfriend had broken up months ago and Gunnar was starting to date around.
Gunnar looked down at you as he introduced you, “This is Y/N.” He said, not elaborating any further.
He has a look in his eyes that Adley could see.
Love?
Adoration?
He wasn’t sure, but he knew that either you were important to Gunnar or he was head over heels for you.
And he sure hoped it wasn’t the latter.
******
Gunnar was about sick and tired of his friend moping over you, especially after he had found out the two of you were just friends. Even then, his mood didn’t change.
“You like her!” Gunnar shouted at his friend in the clubhouse, “Just admit it!”
“Okay, fine!” Adley rolled his eyes, just to make him shut up, “I like Y/N! I have for a while now.” He admitted, “Are you happy now?”
Their teammates were in their stalls watching the two boys bicker back and forth over you, knowing Gunnar was just trying to push Adley’s buttons to get him to admit his feelings for you.
“About damn time.” Gunnar replied, “You do realize that had you of said that sooner, you’d probably be dating by now?”
You had been handing around for a bit in Baltimore, mainly because you had a work from home job and was visiting Gunnar quite more frequently.
You had missed your best friend and he had opened up his home to you, but another blonde haired, green eyed boy had gotten in the picture too.
You liked Adley, but you weren’t going to admit it, even when Gunnar pestered the shit out of you about it.
Adley, on the other hand, broke like a dam the moment Gunnar put the pressure on him.
“So when are you going to ask her out?”
“What?” Adley almost choked on the Gatorade he was drinking.
“You heard me, big fella.” Gunnar grinned at his stall mate.
“Shouldn’t you be threatening me right now?”
“Nah, I just want you both happy.” He admitted, “Besides, she can handle herself.” He shrugged as he tugged on his cleats, “but you better act soon. Never know how much longer she’ll be available. Heard there was a few suitors.” He added in as he gave his friend a soft pat on the back.
*****
“Did you ask her?” Gunnar asked as he walked next to his friend.
“Not yet,” Adley admitted, “I’m waiting for a perfect time. I can’t just randomly ask her. It’d be awkward.”
“Dude, you’re just asking her on a date.” He chuckled, “You’re not proposing to her.” Gunner added, “Wait, you’re not proposing, right?” He jokingly added.
Adley shook his head as a laugh left his lips, “No- I’ll wait for the second date for that.”
“If you get one.” He shrugged.
Gunnar was all for this.
You and Gunnar had grown up together, you coming to visit him.
During the visit, you had caught the eyes of a certain catcher who had confided in Gunnar about you.
Once Adley had found out that you two would only ever be just friends, Adley had practically fallen head over heels for you.
“Just so you know, I wouldn’t be mad if y’all worked out,” he shrugged, “I just want what’s best for my best friend and you’re not too shabby, Rustch.”
“Gee, thanks.” Adley rolled his eyes at the blonde.
“Not a problem.” He smirked as he clapped Adley on the back.
“There you are!” You stomped your foot as you stood in front of Gunnar, “I’ve been waiting for one of you to get back so I can get inside!”
“Where’s your key I gave you?” Gunnar raised his eyebrow.
“Inside.” You sheepishly admitted as he tossed his head back, a laugh escaping his lips.
“Figured.” He said as he fumbled with his keys, “Next time, you’re buying dinner for forgetting your key.”
“You make-“
“Ah- no.” He cocked his left eyebrow at you before an idea popped into his head, “Or Adley can buy you two dinner. Tomorrow night. At 7.”
Adley’s eyebrows raised as his mouth fell into an ‘o’.
‘So we’re doing this now’ he thought to himself, quickly reminding himself to debate on killing or hugging Gunnar later.
“Uh- what?” You questioned, confusion lacing your voice.
“What he’s trying to say is, will you go out with me? Tomorrow? Apparently at 7?” Adley asked, chuckling as he shoved Gunnar out of the way.
“And you’re okay with this?” You asked Gunnar, who had a smile on his face.
“Totally.” He said, “Not that my opinion matters because you’re a grown adult, but I trust Ad with everything in me. I know I won’t have to worry about you with him.”
