Sorry for how quiet I've been. Work, school and Creative work have been kicking my ass. Though here is the giant Au turn around I want to make after breaking down and admitting I really do want to do it.
Au: What if Maria didn't go to the Hamlet.
Now hear me out!
Most of the time, yes it could be practically destined for Maria to end up in the Astral Tower and Protecting the Hamlet from being discovered and the secret of the Hunter's Curse.
But what if- Maria did not go to it?
She may have been propositioned to go to the raid and denied, out of understanding what massacre it is. Or simple obligations. Or something or other reasons, it is unclear but she did not attend the attack. And when Gehrman returned and she understood the massacre it truly was and abandons her station as a hunter in her anger. Solidifying to helping patients.
From there all happens as original, until her death. Where instead of locked in the Astral Clocktower....Maria is tied to the Hunter's Dream along with Gehrman. To act as a Guide, a source of aid. And she works tirelessly. From hunter to hunter to free herself and Gehrman.
May introduce another Bloodborne centric Verse. But like....an Au. Cause ive had talks, and my brain is going 100000000 miles per hour and Mariiiaaaaaaaa

"A New Year....hmm."
She crosses her legs and intertwines her fingers. Looking at the door before a quirk of a smile takes her face. Memories coating her brain.

Maria walks through the streets of Yharnam, a young hunter. Hidden under the cloak of night. The night of the hunt, most if the people were inside and quite. Hoping their homes would be secure. Maria stalks the streets, slight blood on her uniform as she adjusts her hat.
Before coming across a sole light from a home. A window with a light coming through. That was rare. Most people during this time kept their homes dark, or were asleep anyway.
In curiosity, she approaches the window. And with her hand two gentle taps on the glass.
âAre you awake?â Her voice was quiet, hoping not to bother the other.
{X}
The only thing he could manage in response was a soft âhm?â sound. Before he could inquire as to where the woman was going, she was already gone.
With a soft sigh, the ailing man laid back down, eyes drifting shut.
Hours passed. The streets were a bit difficult this night, but Maria managed to make it to a small clinic. Nothing as large or substantial as the church. She knew better than to ask for blood- the nurse would just send her to the church for that. And the church-
So she had asked for medicine for a bad cough. After all, she knew very little of the man's illness. Hopefully, it wasn't the worst possibly thought.
She returns to the window with a small bag of pills and herbs. And knocks upon the window.
"Sir? I've returned. I've got some medicine for you."

The last thing Maria remembers if the sweet release of death. Of the hunter finally freeing her from the nightmare and leaving her. To what? She didn't know. She was dead in the waking world. What would happen to her soul?
Apparently- she wasn't meant to die just yet.
She stumbled through the streets, barely walking coherently. The blood gushing from her stomach. It hurt, but her vileblood heritage made the wound feel much less grievous than it would be for a normal person. She limps through the bright streets, foreign and new. Never has she seen so many people and so many colors. She needed help, and she needed it now.
"Miss? Miss! Can you hear me?"
Stranger approached her, setting down his groceries. There was an unusual... almost smell to her, but he ignored it because she clearly needed help.
Maria's eyes faltered, looking to the man who called for her. But her vision flashes, inside of bright lights and bright hair she saw the dark damp streets of Yharnam and a boy far too young to hunt. She blinks again and she came back to reality- or at least what she thought was reality.
She gulps down whatever was in her throat and pants.
"The....the nightmare..." She stumbles and nearly falls flat on her face. She wasn't sure if she was hallucinating or not anymore.
A few hours later, she was resting comfortably in the Sector 7 clinic, wounds bandaged.
When Maria's eyes opened she did her best to will her vision to be clear. Her hat was off and so was her over coat. That was enough to put her on alert, regardless of the aching.
She slowly sits up, using her elbows as leverage. Before looking around a bit and then finally getting a decent picture of her surroundings instead of that blurry mess.
"Where-?"

Maria hums, âThatâs only natural. I canât imagine a knight being called to do such things.â Maria recalls some of the moreâŠsmaller tasks she was asked to do. Cats in trees certainly wasnât her favorite commissions but if it made people happy.
âAnd as helpful as it is for an adventurer such as I, it is still a bitâŠconcerning.â She was relieved the knight wasnât blind to such neglect.
She looks up and around the fields, spotting a hilichurl in the distance. And it seemed to see her as well as it sprang up in fear. Maria puts the map away and lifts up her trick sword.
âIt seems we are close.â And with a powerful pull, the blade separates into two. As she calmly begins to walk to the hilichurl. It attempts to hide or run.
âAs stated, the people have gotten too lax and over-reliant on the Knights and the Honorary Knight.â The Traveler, Lumine/Aether. She had heard much about them, but also had been concerned.
They had quite the good reputation, but as said, people were relying too much on them.
Taking a look at the otherâs weapon of choice, Blanche couldnât really recognize it, aside from it looking like it was of Snezhneyan origin to her. âAn interesting weapon you got there; Guess it just barely made the cut, eh?â
Because it split in two, but she bit her tongue and kept observing for now. So far all things pointed towards Maria being an ally, rather than someone to be suspicious about.
The pun nearly made Maria facepalm if it weren't for the fact that she was holding her blades. Maria walked closer and closer, and the moment the hilichurl peeked back out to see if she was still there it quickly regretted it. Raising her both her arms diagonally and slashing very precisely.
The cano of hilichurls around the corner of the rock finally came out running in shock. And all surrounded Maria. It bothered her little. As she swiped and slashed away with ease she then combined the blade once more and cut down most at once. Then- an abyss mage had appeared.
Apparently, it had a connected to the camp and the mage bounced in shock as it saw Maria. Quickly surrounding itself in a bubble. Her blade then bursted with flames and her vision glowed from under her coat as she slashed-
and popped the bubble and nothing more. She simply gestured away from Mondstadt and the mage took off. Mission done.

Maria stops herself from the question she was going to ask. Why come along if you get nothing from it then? Though, it only solidified Mariaâ` suspicion. Perhaps sheâs seen as a threat, she couldnât blame the people of Mondstadt. Snezhnaya was far more unwelcoming to newcoming adventurers such as she. She was surprised this is the only Knight who has approached her so far.
Well, other than the one in the Tavern.
âI take commissions regardless of their intricacy. What needs to be done, needs to be done.â She states so matter of factly. She did wonder why there were so commissions.
She walks forward with purpose, keeping a lookout for the campsite.
âI was simply surprised to see so many commissions waiting to be taken? There is a guild here, no?â Why not ask her own questions while here?
Acting Grand Master Jean had seen her as a wildcard more than anything. Hence why she had sent Blanche to check her out, which she gladly did, as it allowed her to stretch her legs every once in a while, instead of doing paperwork all the time.
âThe Adventurer Guild, yes. Although theyâve been getting a bit too lax ever since the Traveler came and has been doing most commissions for them.â Then again, said Traveler had already moved onto Inazuma and was on their way to Sumeru.
They did come back every couple of months to participate in the holidays or festivities though.
âI myself cannot take many commissions, as my schedule is mostly determined by how people need me and what the Acting Grand Master decides.â

There was a soft noise from inside the window. A wheezing breath. A man in rest, though not entirely at peace.
There was a hitch. A few coughs, followed by a slight, tired âhm?â sound from inside.
â⊠Giddy?â
It was the first name to leave his lips. When his mind finally readjusted itself back to the present, he could not help but frown.
No. Gideon was long dead⊠The ailing man drew in a deep breath. Slow. Steady. It was best not to think of it.
⊠But gods, did he miss his brother so.
He was about to shut his eyes and return to sleep when he heard the tapping again⊠A quiet voice called out to him.
â⊠I am now,â he answered in return. After a moment, he re-adjusted himself into a sitting position, rubbing his eyes before turning to the window.
âYou⊠Are a HunterâŠ?â
âYes, sir.â She didnât give her name, after all the Yharnamites knew little of the workshop but only of the beast scourge. She didnât want to frightened the man. He soundly sickly as well, this concerned Maria as she steps closer to the window.
âApologies for awakening you- However-â
He sounds sick, does he have the scourge too? Would she need to impale this man from his own window? Sheâd hope not. She really hoped not.
She gripped the Rakuyo with already tense hands, she keeps her free hand at her side, and even traced the side of her Evelyn. No, not before she knows it for sure. She wouldnât slaughter an innocent man just for being sick.
âAre you alright? Do you need medical attention?â
{X}
A soft chuckle could be heard inside.
âIs it that obvious?â The voice started, following up by a few coughs.
âUnless you happen to be carrying the miracle cure for my affliction, then Iâm afraid⊠There isnât really any form of medical attention in the world capable of helping me⊠The only thing I can do is⊠Rest.â
Rest. And waste awayâŠ
Maria knew that leaving the rest to his rest would do him nary any good. She looks down and thinks. She isn't sure if she is qualified to even ask the church and even then- that's a gamble on its our merits.
Isn't there a clinic or something nearby?
"Rest easy, sir." She looks around this district for a mere moment. Perhaps she could find someone to at least give him something for that awful cough of his. She, in good faith, couldn't just leave him there.
"I will return in short time." She turns on her boots. Time for a good visit to the nearby clinic. Hopefully they have at least something.
lumenmariaâ:
The blood, was so much.
Maria was limping as she held her gut and the blood from her wound fro. Her final fight with the hunter. She was still alive? That couldnât be right. But Why?
Even if the pain was miniscule in comparison from a normal person with her injuries the deliriousness was not a joke.
She stumbles, and trips on her own feet. Maria has never been this clumsy and out of it in all her life. The bright lands and sounds fading as she blinks.
She coughs, blood leaving her as well.
âItâŠcanât be-â
Will her curse ever end?
Zero had killed a few random animals by the time she reached the center of the forest which surrounded her campsite, and what she found was a woman limping, clearly wounded given she kept coughing up blood and tripping over her own feet.
âW-what the-?!â
Zero says in shock, freezing in place and looking at the much taller woman, backing away slightly and not knowing what she should do.
There was no way sheâd be able to really help her. She didnât have medical supplies; she had no need for such things given her regeneration ability; she didnât exactly have anywhere to serve as shelter, justâŠ
Life really decided to throw her this injured woman make her feel bad for having no way of helping her. Not like sheâd admit that.
Maria heard the voice, her hand twitching until it comes to her trickblade. She looks up with a surprisingly quick reflex but then curls in on herself. The pain- it was subsiding but it was the delirium. For a moment, the woman in white faded to a nun...a familiar face. When Maria's eyes caught her they widened. She crawls a bit closer- and reaches.
"A......Ade-"
She passes out, her wounds healing and her mind all but lost. The trickblade in her other hand firmly. Though her body twitched and rosenand fell. She was alive still.
lumenmariaâ:
Maria glances up at the man when he offered to pay for her drink. Noting, that he approached and seemed to hold an interest. What kind if interest was the question. Mariaâs eyes continued to scan her book, all until he asks her the contents. She places her finger on the page and sips the cocktail that we given to her. Rather fruity.
âGardening and Floraâ
Her voice, her accent, as strong as ever. She sips again at the drink for a bit of a longer time. Before she sets the book down a little lower, closing it over her finger so she doesnât lose her place. And looks at the man fron under her hat and platinum tresses.
âIâve taken up the hobby recently.â
She knew he was here for more than just idle talk, but she could humor him.
Kaeya hums in acknowledgement. If her appearance didnât give her away as a foreigner, her accent sure did. Heâll admit though, he canât quite place where itâs from. Itâs definitely not one from Inazuma or Sumeru. Snezhnaya? Possibly, but at the same time, it doesnât have that kick. His curiosity only grows. âOh, a prospective gardener, are you? Have you visited the Floral Whisper near the front gates? The owner is quite lovely, and Iâm sure sheâd welcome any newcomers with open arms.â
He traces the rim of his glass with his index finger. Itâs still quite full; he takes care to not drink too much around those he does not know. âIs this your first time in Mondstadt?â he asks, although he already knows the answer. âWeâre a fairly popular leisure destination, or so Iâve been told.â Whether sheâs here for a break or for business, Kaeya plans to find out by the end of their conversation. And if itâs for business, well⊠Kaeya is known to poke his nose in places where he doesnât belong.Â
Maria nods to his inquiry, having a feeling where this conversation is going. However, she might as well see it through. Large black boots cross under the bar top as she hums.
"Yes, it is my first time in Mondstadt. As an adventurer I've taken to travelling around quite a distance."
She saw no reason to really fear the knight. And even if he did attempt to attack her, she could fend him off. And his squadron of men are currently singing songs a little too loud at a table behind them. He also has a cryo vision. Definitely not very usual against her. Maria weighed her options and sips her cocktail once more. It was very light on alcohol.
"My last visit was to Liyue to help the adventurers there. So since I was so close, I decided to come by for some more work." She'd bite.
