i was goofing around and thinking about a funny bodyswap idea (mostly for horny purposes) but it got me thinking about something completely different; their respective experiences and attitudes about having chronic pain
i dont think ive directly mentioned it in a fic or that much on here, but they both deal with a lot of just like. Pain. aches, if you will
phil is old, and impulsive, and has had many reckless eras of his life, and doesnt always take the best care of himself, so his body hurts a lot of the time. heās very used to it, but he outwardly complains a lot, mostly lightheartedly. itās a lot more known between the two of them that phil deals with this, especially after his wing is injured
he will openly complain about how it hurts and it fucks up his balance and please techno will you rub my back it hurtsss :( its usually fairly playful, since he doesnt really wallow in it. itās one of the only Problems that heās actually open about so like +1 emotional balance i guess
techno Also deals with a lot of pain. heās also reckless, and justifiably arrogant, and battle is just Fun to him. this is enrichment. but it means heās gotten incredibly banged up, and he also doesnāt take great care of himself. he has a lot of injuries that didnt heal in the best way, most notably the leg wound he had when phil first found him (part of why he was quite literally dying; it was infected with several nasty things, including the very beginnings of zombification. side note; zombie techno š«Ŗš¤¤)
he probably outright has some kind of autoimmune condition that affects his wound healing ngl. downside of being a hybrid and spending his formative years in the nether!! little techno was full of parasites and bacteria, give that boy antibiotics and antiparasitics plz
the main difference between them, though, is that techno doesnāt really talk about the constant pain heās in. heāll talk about his migraines, and complain about current pain or illness (heās bitchy when heās sick !!), but the constant, low-level agonyā¦ just isnt something he openly discusses. there are several reasons for it; heās usually pretty detached from his own body, he just Exists in it, and he also just doesnāt really see it as important. it isnāt immediately pressing, it canāt really be fixed, and it would be annoying for everyone if he just kept talking about it, so he doesnāt. he sometimes mentions it in passing if itās really bad, but he doesnāt let on about just how bad it is. phil guesses heās keeping some of it to himself, and heās kind about it, but he doesnāt Know. bro is oblivious to the depths of the horrors
this wraps back around to the bodyswap idea, because i think phil would be fucking baffled to learn firsthand just how much pain his sonsband is justā¦ experiencing. At all times. while barely complaining about it ??? the whole experience is more psychologically intense on him than physically. like yeah heās in technoās body and he feels Too Big and he is Wingless and thats all weird, but heās mostly just reeling from the new knowledge that techno exists like this.
