Hi loves I'm back again and this time I'm truly using this app to share my goals, track them, and share my glow up journey both physically and mentally.
My Current Goals:
Learning Goals:
Learn German (start with mastering level A1)
Improve my French (build on my B1 level)
Read a book a month
Teach myself coding with a bioinformatics focus
Take online classes on pharmacology, drug development & discovery
Read one published scientific article a day
Build my knowledge during my research program and during my internship
Health/ Lifestyle Goals:
Work out at least 3 times per week divided between strength training, cardio, and yoga
Gain 3kgs of muscle mass
Eat at least 3 meals per day
Improve my overall energy daily
Have a consistent sleep schedule from 11pm till 7am
Use cold water exposure to regulate focus and dopamine
Career Goals: (As a social media manager)
Create content in batches
Film ahead of time
Post 3 stories a day
Alternate days with posting a picture, carousel, and reel
Personal Goals:
Go out on weekends to the places on my bucketlist (whether it's a hike, beach, club, bar...)
Have a wind down hour where I scroll mindlessly or watch tv series or anime
Spend time with my friends and family
Do my daily gratitude practice where I list 10 things I'm grateful for
Pray consistently
I know this is a lot and I can't do it all at once. That's why I'm choosing 3 things to focus on every single month.
I'm starting with a consistent sleep schedule, gentle movement, reading 10 pages a day, watching short language videos...
Small steps make a big difference.
Balance is a huge part of my life so I always make time for fun and downtime.
Don't Write What You Know, Write Genuinely
One of the most common pieces of writing advice other than “show don’t tell” is “write what you know”. It’s said so much that I think it’s lost a lot of meaning, and people tend to only focus on the literal meaning of ‘write about things that you know about’, which would completely erase fantasy, sci-fi, or just about any slightly fantastical fiction.
So rather, you should think of it as ‘write genuinely’. Connect with yourself to connect with your readers, create emotional ties to your work, write with empathy, write what you know.
There’s three things we can do to help connect us with concepts/places/experiences we don’t know, that’ll allow you to basically write whatever you want. Here’s what I do:
Research
Anything you can learn about what you’re writing about can come in handy. I tend to avoid scholarly articles or Wikipedia when researching because I find having a list of facts doesn’t help as much as having a library of experiences. If I’m writing about California but have never been there, I could learn that rain is pretty uncommon and temperature averages however much during the summer, or I could read about someone talking about their childhood summers in heavy heat and icecream that melts faster than they can eat it.
Essentially, unless you’re writing something with the intention of educating others—don’t worry as much about the facts, look for more about the feelings. Blogs, vlogs, personal journal entries, and other pieces of fiction is where it’s at.
2. Substitution
This is a method I learned in directing (created by Lee Strasberg) that’s a little controversial when using it with actors, but since we’re using it for ourselves it’s fine. Essentially, if actors are attempting a scene about a situation they’ve never been in before (I’ll use the example of moving out for the first time) the director will ask them to recall a situation with similar emotion even if the situation was different.
So in our example, if you haven’t moved out yet but are writing a scene where your character is leaving home for the first time, you might be able to emotionally connect to that scene through recalling the emotions you went through the first time you went to sleep-over camp. Or the time your parents left you alone for the weekend for the first time. Anything with the similar emotions you imagine the situation would bring up (fear, anxiety, but a sense of freedom, excitement, unsureness).
The reason why this is a bit of a controversial technique in directing is because asking actors to recall or share painful memories to get into a scene can be very upsetting or uncomfortable for them, so if you’re a director, be cautious with this!
3. Experiencing
Of course, this all comes back to what we talked about a couple weeks ago. Experiencing to know more. The more you know, the better you can write genuinely about it—so go out and gather some unique experiences!
Good luck!
Criticism, and how to take it and not cry like a lil bi....
Always ASSUME that the other wants YOU to have a glowup.
ACCEPT that it isn't a estimation of your value but of the current situation so YOU can get better.
If the other person DIDN'T like you, they wouldn't have given you criticism or pointers. They give clues or advice so you can get better and have a smoother ride. They care about you.
Repeat the mantra "Open mind, open mind, I am here to learn and glow up" because you damn are. You're in school to learn. You're at work constantly learning and gaining EXPERIENCE.
FOCUS on the positive points, ACCEPT the negative points and NOTE them down. So you don't forget and work on them RIGHT AWAY. We don't waste time flip-flopping!
Without feedback, how else would you know you're advancing? It is there for a purpose!
Ask QUESTIONS, ask more DETAILS.
You're THAT bi... And you're there to GLOWUP AND LEARN. Keep that in mind.

horse back riding lessons, piano lessons, french/spanish/japanese lessons, regular work out routine, every day runs, screen time below three or four hours, longer reading lists, longer pre and post shower rituals, a morning routine, a night routine to breathe and wind down...
... a closet full of good quality staples, putting effort into my appearance (skin, hair, diet) every day, reaching out to my family atleast once a day, taking time to express my gratitude. putting time aside to write to myself and talk to myself. remaining calm, taking longer breaths, staying patient... reminding myself that i deserve it. i deserve the love, understanding, success, and extraordinary life-changing events that are coming for me.
“Don’t give them a taste of their own medicine. They already know what it tastes like. Give them a taste of your own medicine. If they lied, let your medicine be honesty. If they played with your emotions, let your medicine be maturity. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, even if it means removing yourself from lives that you want to be in. You are, no doubt, worthy of being valued for who you are. So be who you are.”

Don't give up!🤎
~May
you can do this. stop sabotaging yourself and your dreams. there will be risks, there will be stress, but go on and actually pursue what you want to do. you will not regret having tried, all things considered. self-doubt can destroy so much of your life. don’t let it, please.

Writing as summer rain threatens.
it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
how do i do that? not give up? how do i make a plan when i don't know what i want? it all seems so pointless and empty. i'm 16 and it's like i've already wasted my life. my dad hates me and i have no friends.
Hey love,
You can’t give up now because the movie hasn’t even started yet.
You’ve never traveled by yourself, stopped and admired la Fontana di Trevi, you haven’t had your own place, you haven’t been woken up by a kiss on the shoulder, haven’t had a surprise party, haven’t adopted a cat. You haven’t yet met 90% of the people who will be important to you for the rest of your life.
You haven’t even felt alive yet.
This is the world you live in. This is what you could be experiencing. This is what you’re meant to be doing. Not starring at a computer screen in the dark, refusing to go outside, wondering why you’re alone. I’m not asking you to drop your life and cross the desert.
Take a walk in the woods, without your phone. Spend some time with yourself, find out who you are. Sit in silence. Try to find a new friend (via Instagram, Reddit, Tumblr, who cares). See if there’s something you’ve always wanted to try, and do it.
Make yourself interesting, deep, raw.
You want to know how to make a plan? Let’s do it:
I made a PDF that you can copy and adapt.
About the bucket list section, we are not looking at Coachella festivals and holidays with friends. Look at the big picture (job, changes, family, future, education…). Write down ten, and cross out half of that.
Those are your actual priorities.
And now, because I am of noble age and have made my own mistakes, let me give you some pointers: save as much money as you can, learn how to cook, stay away from what makes you unhappy (hullo photoshopped IG girls and racist uncles), be nicer than necessary, don’t sacrifice yourself for a job, stretch every day and don’t take your health for granted.
Now get busy and come back next year to tell me everything you’ve accomplished since today! (And feel free to share your bucket lists, kids, it might make you more likely to pursue your dreams!)
Love,
Mum
10 Things that can Wreck your Life
1. Not living in the moment. Always wishing you were somewhere else, doing something different with other people.
2. Blaming your problems on your past. Although the past affects us, it need not define us. We can choose, decide and act – and take control of our lives. Don’t let your past heartaches and pain affect who you become.
3. Running away from problems. It’s pointless to bury your head in the sand and pretend that things are fine when you’re dealing with a problem. Face reality, take action and work to turn things round.
4. Being ungrateful. Being thankful sets you free in your heart and mind. It inspires all that’s good and, also, oils relationships. But an ungrateful person will wear others down. It destroys your spirit, and it saps your energy.
5. Being angry and bitter. Refusing to forgive and bearing grudges against others will slowly poison our personality. It’s much better to release them and to focus, instead, on living a happy and fulfilling life.
6. Letting your expectations rule your life. Life rarely goes smoothly and according to plan – and people disappoint us and let us down. Accepting this is normal takes some tension out of life.
7. Disrespecting yourself and others. Every single person deserves respect, and every single person is fighting their own battle. So focus on being kind, understanding and forgiving.
8. Neglecting important relationship. A relationship that’s built on unconditional love – where a person accepts us for who and what we are – is truly something special that is worth fighting for.
9. Loving people who are bad for us. Not everyone you meet is going to build into your life. Beware of those who who’ll use you, or who want to bring you down, who only want to hurt you, or destroy your confidence.
10. Never taking risks. If you always play it safe, you’ll find you end up going nowhere. You must be willing to take risks or you’ll regret it later on.
here’s a quick guide on how i proofread and edit my essays as an humanities undergrad! i tend to spend more time on research and editing and much less time on writing and my first drafts are often horrendous, so editing is really important for me :^)
i’ve also created guides on essay preparation, the 5-paragraph essay, how to research, and how to write essays. you can find all my other masterposts here.
