The Very Prudent Decisions of Hortlakçı Süleyman Hoca
"The Very Prudent Decisions of Hortlakçı Süleyman Hoca", an eight part tale of supernatural suspense and Ottoman horror. From the valleys of Rumelia in the west to the mountains of Van in the east, Süleyman resolves the conundrums of demons and djinns, vila and vrykolakas - with the aid of his scrupulous manners, detailed attention to sharia law, and the various protective amulets given to him by his clever wife Nilüfer.
The premise of this new show is really simple: a guy inadvertently becomes a renowned monster hunter, and we hear him relay his adventures in the letters he writes to his wife. But it's everything that surrounds this premise that makes this Audio Drama incredibly charming.
For starters, the setting is refreshing and shared with so much obvious love for the history and culture of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. Our protagonist, Süleyman, with his deep and genuine love and respect for his wife; his less than brave and heroic nature; and his smart, modest, and prudent mind, is the most endearing character I have encountered in a while. Oh, and have I mentioned this show is queer? Because it is. And I can't wait to see where that plotline is taking us.
The Very Prudent Decisions of Hortlakçı Süleyman Hoca releases episodes bi-weekly, and as of now, is at its sixth episode.

Just spent about 3.5 hours in the studio with the very talented Sneha Kumar (voice of Lila Sassoon and others). I am always pleasantly surprised at how fantastic of an actress she is, but also how funny and kind, too! I love her voice(s) and working with her! I can’t wait for yall to hear what we cooked up! Hopefully not too much longer now 🥲 We’d love nothing more than to just continuously pump out more MERCY content for yall but unfortunately these things take time and lots of care so that they come out worthy of the wait, and sadly sometimes more time than we initially anticipated. We thank yall for your patience and dedication. Much love ❤️
Can confirm - Austin and Sneha were absolutely *magical* in the live recording session today. It was a big session with very dense content and a less-than-coherent director, but as always, they delivered *beautiful* performances. I am constantly reminded of just how lucky we got with the cast for this show 🙏
As Austin mentioned, there has been a delay and we will release a proper announcement soon with further details and adjusted release dates. Be assured there is ALOT of work happening behind the scenes, so please bear with us in the meantime.
Bonus content dropping soon in the feed, as well as upcoming MERCY posts, so keep an eye out for those too 💕

A new atmospheric folk horror audio drama set in a remote English village, where something ancient stirs beneath the water.
The road to hell is a babbling brook... and time is of the essence.
The fastest way to accomplish The Project is to cease being afraid of The Project. The Project cannot maim you. The Project cannot kill you. The Project is more afraid of you than you are of it. It is okay if The Project turns out differently from how it was in your head, and it is okay if it has flaws. You are capable of engaging with The Project.

!!!!!!!!
Hey there horror audio drama fans! I'm tagging this post a little bit more broadly to reach the right audience, because-
Beck's End is in its last days of fundraising and it needs your support.
A new atmospheric folk horror audio drama set in a remote English village, where something ancient stirs beneath the water.
Beck's End is a folk horror audio drama about isolation, belief, radicalisation and poses the question if redemption is possible. It's got an amazing, experienced team, with voice actors you may already know and love. If you have some entertainment budget left to spend this month, please consider heading over to the Kickstarter and pledge 💚💗
And if you are not able to support financially, could you perhaps help spread the word and share it with someone you know would enjoy this story?
Thank you for your care and consideration 💗
just another £600 to get this show funded!
A new atmospheric folk horror audio drama set in a remote English village, where something ancient stirs beneath the water.
Hey folks!
Let's talk about Beck's End and why you should support it!!
In the UK historically, Northern voices and rural voices are too often left out of the conversation. A lot of this is just straight up classism - for Americans, think Appalachia or the Deep South.
It also has very deep historical roots here in the UK - the Northerners resisted the Norman invasion after 1066 and were punished for that by having all their woodlands and farmlands burned and then sown with lime (the mineral) to poison the soil so that they had to be dependent on southern agriculture for food. You can still see the effect this scarring of the landscape had on the land today (it's why we have the Yorkshire moors that Kathy and Heathcliffe are so fond of).
Much like the way this phenomenon plays out in many countries, even today Northerners are thought of as violent, small-minded and stupid: regardless of our contributions to culture (hi, The Beatles). The North of England is profoundly and unfairly underfunded by the government for things like state infrastructure - from transport to healthcare.
So for me, (Ella), as someone who lives in the North, making Beck's End isn't any old audio drama project. It's really meaningful to me that it's a series that's set in the North of England, starring a cast from the North and working with a crew from the North. That's actually kind of a big deal.
Right now we're 69% (nice) funded with 8 days to go. If you're able to lend us some financial support, please consider doing so. If you can't for any reason, please consider giving us a signal boost.
Thank you so much as always for your support of independent artists.
If you can spare it, you could do a lot worse than fund this project. Some reasons:
The people behind it are great and have made great things
Folk horror is at its best when it's voices you've not heard before (it makes the folk more folk and the horror more horror)
All of the reasons in this post
