What was going on? Luna was at the restaurant when she heard the explosions at the dock. This wasn’t supposed to happen here. The island was safe and nice and home. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Stepping outside, she heard the noise of the city. What was once laughter and light, the air felt heavy- filled with sirens and fear. Luna hated it. With her own anxiety spiking, her first instinct was to call mom, her sister, and Dad. Her phone wasn’t working as well as she’d like, she didn’t have the patience for it. Luna took off to the Liu estate- hoping to find someone.
“Mom? Dad? Xiu?” She was near tears at this point and naturally fearing the worst. She was supposed to protect mom, now she couldn’t even get a hold of her. “Is anyone here?” @julianogodfrey

Jackson was surprised as soon as he was handed the stuffed bear. He had only played the game to prove a point that all carnival games were set up for failure. The fact that he had just won only proved in the end that he was wrong and he wasn’t sure what to do with that information. “ Uh- well this is awkward” Jackson replied before reaching out and holding it to the person next to him. “ Would you like this? I kind of didn’t expect so much honesty in game play around here. I hadn’t anticipated winning something and now I kind of look dumb with my speech about thing’s being rigged from before.. “
.
“I think you’re stuck with it.” Luna laughed, watching the shifter with a devious smile. “If anything, you’ll have to carry that teddy bear as a scarlet letter,” She was teasing, bumping her shoulder with his. “You should keep it, anyway. It’s cute.”

Sean was with lily strapped in his chest while he walked around the carnival, that way he could do two things at the same thing, patrol and keep his eye on the baby, which it seemed like was having a blast with the colorful things around, hopefully that would tire her, and she would sleep a full night. When he noticed someone looking at him, Sean turned to them. “Can I help you?”
.
The lights, the laughter, the fun... it was all so incredible. But by far, Luna’s favorite thing was watching Sean try to be intimidating with an actual baby strapped to his chest. “Lily’s getting so big.” Luna hummed, watching the duo both as they moved through the carnival. “She looks so cute strapped to you, Sean.”
aiylaxbadem:.
“Fr….Frozen? But..isn’t coffee served hot? Or do you..mean with ice?” She tilted her head, a confused little pout on her lips as she went from trying to learn a new drink name to trying to wrap her head around the idea of a hot drink that’s frozen. “We haven’t.” She answered simply–she only knew a few people on the island, even now. Even less of whom were vampires. When the name was offered she hesitated though; Aiyla wasn’t used to being so forthcoming with any information on herself- even something as simple as her name. But the girl seemed harmless enough (and if anything, she’d hardly be the first vampire Aiyla had to take down. And she seemed soft enough that she’d be an easy target). “Aiyla.”
. “Aiyla. I love that name.” With a nod, Luna turned back to the menu. “Yea! Have you ever tried one of the frozen drinks? I’d be more than happy to buy your first one.” Luna watched her. “They’re like...blended with ice and stuff. Probably absolutely full of sugar but they are so good.” The vampire only watched her for a few seconds, smiling again. “Unless you only like your coffee hot, then I totally get it.”

There was a day set for her opening. She had staff- she had a menu and food, everything was going to be fine in theory. But currently, currently Luna was focused on the tables that had a slight wobble to them. They had to be put together wrong or something, for each of them to be this messed up. It was just too close to the opening day. So she was settled in the middle of the restaurant floor, putting together new ones. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun on top of her head, and she hadn’t had a break for a few hours. The young woman didn’t even bother to look up when she heard the front door open. She was operating under the assumption that it was another delivery. “You can just leave the box with the others, thank you!”
aiylaxbadem:
Aiyla could smell the blood on the girl. Vampire. Aside from a slight tenseness that was still throughout her body though, she relatively stayed calm, murmuring the word softly to herself. “Cap….Cappuccino..” she read it a few times too, trying to memorize it before she looked back to the girl. Espresso. That was the really strong coffee her sister had told her about, that she knew at least. And milk. “I um..I’m not..picky. I’m okay with anything. Caramel would..make it sweeter too?” She wasn’t picky, like she said, but Aiyla had definitely begun to have a sweet tooth.
.
“Carmel makes it sweet, yep! But if you want something super sweet, I’d get one of their frozen coffees? It’s like...a coffee milkshake. And you can still add caramel!” Luna hummed, watching the other. The shifter was gorgeous- in her opinion. “We haven’t met before though, have we? I’m Luna.”
ignas-langston:
“That’s very rude if it’s only because you’re a vampire.” He pointed out, an understatement of how wrong it was but he just didn’t know how to put it into words. He always found it upsetting when species looked down on others. He just couldn’t wrap his head around it, as all it did was bring about more pain. “But you’re opening a restaurant?” He rose a brow, suddenly intrigued. “Huh… tell me about it.” Ignas prompted, genuinely interested.
.
Luna looked at him, thinking for a second. “Do you want to come see it? It’s just up the street- nearly done!” The young vampire turned to him. “It’s world class dishes- I’ve been trained all over the world.” She started. “But the twist is- I can make it for anyone.”
aiylaxbadem:
Every day Aiyla was trying to get braved in the city, trying to feel comfortable and safe amongst all the people and just, well…everything. Case in point today. She’d gone to the cafe like she tended to a few times a week, enjoying coffee and the baked goods she knew. But she wanted to try something new today, try and get (more) out of her comfort zone, so as she stood in line she looked over the items in the display case and looked at the words handwritten on the menu board, stuck on one in particular.
She could read the word chocolate but… that second word (cappuccino) she had no idea what it was or what it meant. “E-Excuse me? Um..what….what’s that? The uh–the drink, I mean.” She hoped it was a drink. Aiyla stumbled over her words a bit too as she spoke, trying to come off as nonchalant and hide the fact that her reading comprehension skills were still remedial at best.
@paradisusstart
.
Luna turned, smiling a little. Operating under the assumption that she just didn’t know the drink, not the words themselves she offered help. “Cappuccino? They’re like...” Luna had to think for a second. “It’s espresso, with steamed milk and a foamy top? It sounds weird when I explain it. But they’re good! I like a bit of caramel in mine. But they’re good if you like hot drinks?”
lillianmarlowe:
Lillian was immediately certain she’d gone somewhere she wasn’t supposed to and she stopped by the door. “Oh em, yes I am, sorry, I thought this place was opening but I am going to presume that I have unfortunately been mislead.”
.
“Please come in! Come in. I can make you a cup of coffee if that interests you.” Luna spoke smiling. “I don’t have much in terms of food yet, but you are more than welcome to explore the space.” The young vampire was grinning now, watching her. “I’m actually glad you came- is there anything here that needs changing?”
kate-avery:
Kate had heard about the new restaurant that was going to open, and she was very happy to hear that the owner would be Luna, she could only imagine how proud her mother would be, the girl was finding out what she loved and doing it, and when the place officially opened Kate would love to go there with Devon and David, however since she was nearby, Kate decided to stop by. “I always like to support local business.” Kate said with a smile. “This place is beautiful, you picked a great location.”
.
“Kate!” Luna was scrambling as soon as she realized who exactly was walking in. “You’ll definitely have your first choice of seats when we open.” Luna hummed, “I’m kind of obsessed with the windows, if I’m being honest. I love that you can see the beach from here, I’d be closer if I had to build a location.”

“You wouldn’t think it would be hard to give away free food.” Luna hummed with a sigh, settling into a park bench next to the stranger. “I mean I get it, I’m a vampire. But I’ve been classically trained across the globe. I just want to make sure my food is good before I open the restaurant.”

“We can hire more people to help get the office along. I can put in a call with the florist to see if we can swap the plants, and switching out lightbulbs shouldn’t be too challenging–or too time consuming. So don’t worry about those little things, Zhen Yue. Instead yes, focus on staffing and all that. Did you finalize the menu ideas you want? I can ask the humans who work in the labs to see if they want to taste-test, might be good to have a…neutral pallet.”
An amused smile pulled onto Mei’s lips as her daughter eagerly grabbed for the blood bag and she shook her head fondly, glad to see her intuition was spot on in knowing Luna was just like her and would accidentally starve herself in favor of getting as much work done as possible. “I can also work on tracking down the fridge. So relax.” as she spoke she reached over, taking Luna’s free hand and giving it a squeeze before she snorted out a laugh, “I don’t think the category was hottest.” Mei wrinkled her nose a bit at that–as well as felt a bit of a blush color her cheeks. “I guess for some reason people thought we just..looked the best together.” Her cheeks got redder. “And as for how it feels, I guess we’ll see once we’re made to take professional photos and all that. Hopefully I can pass for one of those photogenic socialites.”
.
“Menu’s done. I’ve just...got to find people to train in making it with me. Find people who like cooking as much as I do.” Luna was thinking out loud as she sipped her blood. “I have a handful of friends that I wanted to bring in too- Alex from the library may be a good neutral party too.”
With a laugh, Luna only shook her head. “I heard from the grapevine that the King himself voted for you and Dad. Sooooo” Luna laughed some- putting the bag down on the table. “Hottest couple, confirmed. You looked regal, Mom. Don’t speak ill of yourself.”
lee-marlowe:
Lee had literally just arrived and with a couple bags attached to him, he set off to look around and hopefully reunite with his family. The witch was a little overwhelmed to be honest, but in a good way. In a way he had always wanted to feel, but he still needed to get his thoughts in order. He was waiting to hear back from Lillian and decided to wait a bit and walked through the door that seemed so inviting to him, he wasn’t planning on staying he just needed to ask a couple questions.
A soft smile appeared on his face as soon as he heard a voice. “ Kind of. I literally just got here and I’m looking for somewhere to maybe get coffee or something while I wait to hear back from my wife?” He asked before acknowledging the lack of other people around. “ I’ve walked into a closed place haven’t I?”
.
“Not closed per say, just not quite yet in exsistance?” The vampire only hummed, “But please- come take a seat. I do have soda and tea, I can get you one! My coffee pot isn’t here yet, something about shipping delays or whatever.” Luna caught herself in her ramble. “Soda, or green tea?”
