Useless Observations About Christian and the Drama League Awards

This is the second time that Christian has been nominated for two performances in one year. The first time was in 2011 when he was nominated for Angels in America & Peter and the Starcatcher.

Both years he did a serious AIDS-era show then an adaptation of a whimsical children’s book. Both years the AIDS-era show was nominated as a distinguished production and the light-hearted show was ignored. (Peter and the Starcatcher was nominated in 2012 but was snubbed in 2011.)

Both years he was the only nominee from each show. (Celia Keenan-Bolger was nominated in 2012 but was snubbed in 2011.)

Since his first nomination in 2007 for Legally Blonde, every one of his elgible performances has been recognized by the Drama League (Angels in America - 2011, Peter and the Starcatcher - 2011 & 2012, Something Rotten! - 2015, Falsettos - 2017, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 2017).
