I'm lying if I say I'm not concerned that Marissa Meyer's writing credit on IMDB is just that it's based on her book. I understand that just because someone authors a book doesn't mean they can write a screenplay well. But so many authors have been burned by Hollywood.

I hope Marissa is heavily involved in the creative process and the book is heavily referenced.

i dunno if more than two people on this site have read The Lunar Chronicles specifically Cinder but there's this one part in the book that has dictated how i treat electronics since i was like ten years old:

and she's absolutely right i do it regularly and it's astounding how often it works. the realest scene ive ever read in a book, which is hilarious, because it's about cyborgs and mind-controlling moon people

Our introduction to the best mechanic in New Beijing is probably the greatest introduction Marissa Meyer could have done.

She COULD have shown Cinder busily at work in the middle of some complex broken down machine, or shown her rewiring something that requires absolutely surgical precision. Which totally could have showcased what amazing things her robot hand can do. And the story would have been just as great.

But Marissa Meyer decided we needed to meet her BEST. MECHANIC. By having her attemp to hit something until it works.

An expert choice was made. Thank you Marissa.

Noëlle Raffaele is set to be the director. She's PERFECT. As perfect as it could get except that she hasn't directed a Sailor Moon movie.:p

The Marvels, which she was the director of, has exactly the same feel.

And honestly? Might be weird to say? I think the fact she directed Scoob! Is also just right as a credential to handle TLC.

Friends going on an adventure, young and extremely close friends so they are going to interact exactly as that age group would in the extraordinary circumstances they find themselves in.

I think both those movies at least are greatly to her credit. I can't wait to see what she does with this.

(Literally didn't know a single thing about this woman's career or the name until she was attached to this XD I just Google so fast yall.)

GUYS. I JUST HEARD THE NEWS. this Tumblr was kind of dead tbh cause like...I read and loved the books so much...and then kind of...moved on? You know? Still love them and still own them and still follow Marissa Meyer but my fire for them kind of went into bright embers instead of roaring flames.

But a movie!? F I N A L L Y?? Like after all these remakes Hollywood has been making and the general book reading public like...screaming....ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ACTUALLY OUT OF IDEAS??? VISIT A BOOKSTORE.

I AM FREAKING OUT. LUNAR CHRONICLES IS GETTING NEW COVERS!!!! I CAN’T STOP STARING AT THEM!!! 

They cover art is by the extremely talented (obviously)  Tomer Hanuka (@tropical_toxic) 

I’m so happy because IMHO the old covers, beautiful as they were (Cress was my fav of those) didn’t really do the stories justice! Like, to look at the old cover of Cinder you’d think it was about some weird assassin-escort-robot or something!?  These are just *beautiful* and are absolutely indicative of that...that....unique and ethereal science fiction.  The Lunar Chronicles is honestly just a genre by itself! Let’s be real!  According to Marissa Meyer the Winter one is her favorite. Which one do you like best??

This is Taylor Swift’s statement about it. And this is gross behavior. 

t doesn’t matter if you like the music. It doesn’tmatter if you like her personality. Personal taste doesn’t matter. What matters is that she’s a person who should have the right to her own music. 

Again, I’m sorry if you’re like “I didn’t sign up for this when I came to tumblr today”. ANd I understand I may lose followers over this. I love you and I totally get if you didn’t come here for celebrity news. But... I consider it less celebrity news and more standing behind an artist.

I stand with Taylor Swift

I understand this is not a blog for celebrity news. I understand this is just a book blog. And I’m sorry if by posting about this it runs any of you off. But this is an important issue. 

Taylor Swift may be a multimillionaire celebrity, but she is still a person. She is still just an artist. And the fact that hundreds, thousands, of people enjoy her music doesn’t make her any less of a person or any less of an artist. 

Her music was stolen from her. The rights to her songs were given to someone named Scooter Braun, a man who has made a passion out of trying to dismantle Swift’s career and success. 

Taylor Swift is now being told that she is not allowed to sing her music in the upcoming AMA awards or to have it playing in an upcoming documentary about her...unless she agrees to never rerecord it. To let go of her music. To shut up about Scooter Braun. 

I’m not normally one to follow celebrity news - but this is more than celebrity news. This is news about an artist being denied their own art. 

Whether you’re a Swiftie or not, whether you’re a fan or not, consider this: She is an artist and her art has been stolen from her. It is her music, it belongs to her. 

The story that the other side is telling is that Taylor Swift willingly signed away the rights to her own songs. But if that were true she wouldn’t want to play them, now. 

Her work is being held ransom and the ransom is her artistic dignity.
