RCTA and 'changing' into a different race in other reality are NOT the same.
RCTA (Race Change to Another) is when someone tries to change or pretend to be another race within their current reality (CR). They weren’t born into that race, but they try to take on that identity, often without fully understanding the cultural or historical context. This is seen as disrespectful because it's rooted in pretending or performing in a way that can minimize real experiences.
Shifting to a different reality, however, is not the same. In reality shifting, you're not pretending to be someone else or trying to change your race in this world. You’re shifting your consciousness to a version of yourself that already exists in another reality. You’re not becoming someone else, you’re connecting with a real version of you who already lives a different life. That version might have a different race, gender, age, or background.
For example, maybe in this reality, you're a 21-year-old white lesbian woman. But in another existing reality, you're a 16-year-old straight Black boy. That version of you already exists without you needing to invent or force it, it’s part of your multiversal self. It might sound strange at first, but if we truly believe in infinite realities, this isn't far-fetched.
You in your CR and you in your DR are not the same person.
You're not shifting your body or your identity, you’re shifting your awareness. These realities already exist, and your consciousness is simply moving into a version of your life that follows a different path. That’s why race changing in shifting isn’t the same as RCTA because you're not performing someone else’s race in your current world, you’re aligning with a version of yourself where that identity is already yours.
Now, I’ve seen K-pop DRs being brought up a lot as examples in this conversation. Many people point out that some shifters want to be Korean in their K-pop DRs just for the aesthetic, to “look cute” or fit in. That kind of intention, changing just to look a certain way can feel shallow, and I agree it’s important to reflect on why someone wants to shift into a particular form. But here’s the thing: if they believe they have to be Korean to fit in, they’re missing the point of reality shifting.
They don’t need to “become Korean” to be in a K-pop DR, there are already infinite realities where Korean versions of themselves exist. If they align with those timelines through conscious shifting, they're not pretending to be Korean, they're connecting to a version of themselves that already is. The desire to shift isn’t wrong, but it’s the intention that matters. Are you doing it for validation or aesthetic? Or are you truly exploring a part of yourself that already exists elsewhere?
In the end, reality shifting is not about changing who you are in this world. It’s about recognizing that you are more than this one life, one identity, or one form. It’s not about erasing anyone else's experience, it's about expanding your understanding of your own. And when done with awareness and respect, shifting into another version of yourself, even if they look different, is not harmful nor disrespectful. It’s a form of spiritual exploration, not imitation.
