“As long as you can keep me out of prison, we have a deal,” Luna assured with a bright smile. As much of a patient person she was, there were some patients who tested it. Daily. Multiple times. She couldn’t help but laugh at his request, nodding in agreement. “Believe me, you’d be front row center. I’d need your advice on how the hell I’m going to clean that shit up.” She shook her head. “Of course we’re missing out on prime viral video material here. We could even call it ‘All’s Flare In Love and War.’“

“Those are definitely the kind of kids you have to watch out for,” Luna said and laughed. “My friend’s daughter is kind of like that. She’s freakishly charming for a four year old, it’s like she takes one look at you with those big eyes and you’re like ‘yes, how can I serve you?’” She shook her head with fake exasperation and sighed. “Make sure to keep an eye on her, I have a feeling she’ll either be a queen or the president some day.”

As passionate as he was about equality and setting guys like that straight, he tried not to let those angers get to him. “Consider this for an answer: If some bitch ass privileged dick talked about that in front of me, chances are I’d bash his ugly face in. Luna smirked a little and shrugged. “Believe me, paralyzing his testicles for life was a real possibility for a few minutes there. I wasn’t sure I could live through being sued though and my father doesn’t need another lawsuit on his hands.” She snorted. “Fear of God, I could use some of that right about now. Put the eternal smackdown on the next bigoted fucker who tries to put me in my ‘place’.” She liked that idea already, even if there was no way she could cause a tizzy in the workplace. “Too bad I can’t just shove a fire cracker up his ass.”

“Back at you,” Luna smiled. “I think my glasses are probably hiding wherever my dog is hiding this morning, she tends to thief things overnight and when I need them, they’re nowhere to be found. Or they’re somewhere weird like behind my dryer. Who does that?”

Contrary to Luna, Amber was known for her short fuse and hotheaded personality. Those traits had certainly gotten her in trouble multiple times in the past. “I don’t think you’re overreacting. It’s okay to feel pride and need to defend your own.” she added. “Also, you need to teach me how you do it. I don’t think I can be that calm, collected or professional.”

“Neither can I, but I also like my job,” she mused, and smiled wryly. “I think hospitals are already high stress enough so I didn’t want to make it any worse by getting in a full on brawl right there.” She’d done her fair share of that in the past, so it was no surprise that her natural instinct actually was to fight. She shook her head, and nodded. “I’m totally up for teaching a class. Most people I work with pop a xanax or two, but I’ve somehow managed to perfect my zen in the fact of infuriation.”

“Oh god no! In fact you reacted much calmer than I would have” Jordyn said with a shake of her head. “I just don’t get it. Like why is one race more deserving of being here than others. We’re all people, and believe it or not, we’re all the same on the inside. If I had been there, I would have shoved the needle up his ass, or somewhere even worse than that. I hate people” she said as she drummed her fingers against the side of her own cup, “Other than dealing with that today, was your day okay?” she asked before taking a sip of her coffee.

“I honestly have no freakin’ idea.” Luna shook her head. It was something she faced pretty infrequently, since most people that came to her hospital, and in the city in general, were tolerant and kind, but on occasion she encountered the odd one out who just wanted to make people feel ostracized. “Thank you, I feel better after ranting, but I definitely should have stabbed him in the knee with it at least,” she mused, sipping her coffee before pushing it aside. “I’m good. Exhausted, but good. What about you? What’s the haps?”

“Girl, I was closer to it, believe me.” She huffed. “If I hadn’t been on the job, I would have cut that motherfucker in half.” She chuckled, smirking. “Or at least jabbed the needle into his thigh. I have zero patience for that shit especially in the workplace. You’re lucky I care enough about the wellbeing of general human beings and I’m not more petty, because I would have done something.”

Luna laughed again a little louder this time, smiling at the girl and placing a hand on her hip. “I can relate there. I also tend to yell when sassy, so maybe you’ve got a little badass in the making there. Does she have you wrapped around her finger?”

“The fact that you appreciate it speaks volumes about your taste,” Luna smiled at them and giggled. “For as much money and designer clothes as my father tries to hurl at me, I will literally always choose something like this. Not that there’s anything wrong with it,” she noted with a light laugh and almost awkward shrug,  “but I’m a nurse, so I have to sprinkle the fashion in where I can, you know? I think Dolce and Gabbana would both have a conniption fit if I dared to bring my pieces to the ER.” She shrugged again, smiling at them. “Sorry, I’m Luna. I think all this fabric is going to my head.”

Walking into the coffee shop, Jonah was half paying attention, put quickly put his phone down as he reached the till. He ordered before stepping aside and offering the person behind him a warm smile, “I’ll get that for you,” he insists softly, “I mean, if you don’t mind. I’d love some company, though, I mean, I’ll just cover you anyway if that’s alright with you,” he says, shrugging a shoulder.

Luna looked up from her phone and raised an eyebrow before she smiled. “Paying it forward? I didn’t think people actually did that in real life, but I won’t say no. Thank you.” She shrugged, she had just gotten off her shift and was, finally, sans scrubs, so what was the harm in taking a little break and indulging in the kindness of a stranger? When it was her turn to order, she simply ordered a vanilla chai and smiled at him again. “Are you sure about that? I can definitely pay for my own, I’m not stealing your money for like... a grandparent’s new kidney, am I?”
