Soshiro Hoshina x Reader
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Summary:
You and Soshiro Hoshina have been inseparable since childhood, bound by years of trust, comfort, and unspoken feelings. Though everyone assumes you are already a couple, you both insist you are just friends until one night after a mission crosses a line neither of you is prepared to face. What follows is something that you didn't expect.
You came back as a Platoon leader
Strict. Precise. Untouchable.
You trained the new recruits relentlessly correcting stances, barking orders, pushing them past exhaustion. And standing beside you during drills was Soshiro Hoshina.
Acting like nothing had ever happened.
Like you weren’t the woman who vanished from his life.
Like he wasn’t the man who once held you like you were something fragile and irreplaceable.
He spoke to you only when necessary.
His tone was professional.
Detached.
No teasing.
No softness.
No half-lidded smiles meant just for you.
“Platoon Leader (Last Name), formation’s sloppy.”
“Yes, Vice-Captain.”
That was it.
Like strangers.
And you told yourself that was what you wanted.
Right?
Your hands shook every time he passed too close.
Every time you caught yourself looking for him out of habit.
You were the one who drew the line.
You were the one who chose this distance.
So why did it hurt so much?
The alarm blared.
Emergency alert.
Honju-class Kaiju detected. Multiple Kaiju swarms approaching the city.
You were already moving before the announcement finished.
Outside, the Defense Force was assembled Kafka, Reno, the squads in position. And there he was.
Soshiro.
Sword strapped to his hips, his bob cut sway everytime he moves, expression calm and lethal.
He stood beside Captain Ashiro, waiting.
Waiting for the Platoon Leader
You landed beside them, boots hitting the ground sharply.
“Platoon Leader reporting,” you said flatly.
“Move out,” Mina ordered.
And just like that, the battlefield swallowed you whole.
The city was chaos.
Explosions echoed. Buildings crumbled. Civilians screamed as evacuation teams scrambled.
You cut through Kaiju with ruthless efficiency, every movement sharp, every strike fatal.
Then
You saw it.
Your blood ran cold.
But he was in the daycare…
He was supposed to be safe.
Why.. why is he here.
Your eyes locked onto a small figure lying on the ground.
Dark violet hair matted with blood.
A tiny body unmoving.
“Sosuke--"
A Honju loomed over him, raising its arm to strike again.
You moved.
Too fast.
Too furious.
You blocked the attack in a blur of steel, slicing the Honju’s arm clean off. Blood sprayed as something feral tore loose inside you.
“Platoon Leader (Name) (Last Name) unleashed combat power 87%!” Okonogi shouted in shock.
You didn’t hear her.
Your eyes were dark. Empty. Lifeless.
You attacked.
Every strike was merciless. Every movement precise and overflowing with bloodlust. You carved through the Honju like it was nothing, slicing straight through its core.
The monster collapsed, filthy blood splattering across your uniform and face.
You didn’t stop.
You turned, standing over Sosuke’s body like a shield.
“Okonogi,” you said into the earpiece, your voice flat dangerous. “Get the rescue team here. I don’t know where I am. Track my location.”
“U-understood!”
More Kaiju emerged.
You stayed.
Protecting your only hope
You slaughtered them one by one, refusing to step away from your son. Your movements slowed. Your breathing grew ragged. The combat suit screamed warnings as it overheated power levels far beyond safety limits.
Blood dripped down your forehead, blurring your vision.
Still, you fought.
Because if you stopped
He would die.
“Platoon Leader! Backup and rescue are on the way!” Okonogi shouted desperately.
“Please hold on!”
Your knees trembled.
Your vision darkened.
But you stayed standing.
Over Sosuke.
Always over Sosuke.
He's the only one who gives you light
“Mama…”
A small, trembling voice called out.
You turned instantly.
Sosuke lay on the ground like a frightened kitten, eyes glassy with fear. The sight crushed your heart but you forced yourself to smile, even as everything inside you broke.
“Mama’s here, darling,” you said softly, kneeling despite the pain tearing through your body.
You brushed blood-matted hair away from his face with shaking fingers. “Just close your eyes. I’ll take care of this, okay?”
He nodded weakly.
Blood trickled down his forehead as his eyes slowly shut, his breathing shallow as unconsciousness claimed him.
You didn’t notice it.
Didn’t sense it.
The Honju burst through the building behind you.
The impact sent you flying.
Concrete shattered. Glass exploded. Your body slammed through walls like paper. Pain erupted everywhere at once white, blinding, unbearable.
You coughed, blood spilling from your lips. Your vision blurred, your head spinning violently.
“S… Sosuke…” you whispered, reaching out.
Your fingers twitched but you couldn’t feel your body anymore.
Darkness swallowed you whole.
You woke up choking on pain.
Your head throbbed like it was being split open. Your throat was dry, raw, burning. Every breath felt like broken glass tearing through your lungs.
Still
You forced yourself to move.
Your body screamed in protest as you pushed yourself upright, muscles tearing, wounds reopening.
Pain shot through your spine, sharp and merciless.
“Where’s… where’s Sosuke?” you whispered hoarsely.
Panic surged.
“WHERE’S SOSUKE?! WHERE’S MY SON?!” you screamed.
You sat up too fast.
Agony exploded through your ribs and abdomen.
You screamed, clutching your side as blood soaked through the bandages, alarms immediately blaring around you.
“Platoon Leader, stop moving!”
“Medical! get her back down!”
You barely heard them.
“MY SON!” you sobbed, vision swimming.
“Where is he?!”
Footsteps rushed in. Voices overlapped. Hands tried to hold you down but you fought them like a wounded animal, you didn't care you only want to see your son
Then
A familiar presence cut through the chaos.
“Enough.”
The room fell silent.
You froze.
Slow, heavy footsteps approached.
You looked up
And your breath shattered.
Soshiro stood there.
"Soshiro.."
Not 'Vice-captain' not 'Hoshina' but Soshiro, it's been years since you called him by his name
His uniform was torn and stained with blood that wasn’t his.
His face was pale, his red eyes dark and hollow nothing like the calm Vice-Captain everyone knew.
He looked… destroyed.
“He’s alive,” Soshiro said quietly.
Your body went weak.
“…What?” you breathed.
“He’s alive,” he repeated, voice shaking despite his control.
“Critical condition. Head trauma. Internal bleeding. But he’s alive.
You sigh in relief, collapsing back onto the bed, a broken sob ripping from your chest.
“Where is he?” you whispered.
Soshiro didn’t answer immediately.
His jaw tightened.
“He’s in the next room,” he finally said. “They didn’t want to move him far.”
You tried to stand again.
“I need to see him-"
“You can’t,” he snapped, stepping forward. “You almost died.”
“I don’t care!” you cried. “That’s my son!”
The word son hung between you.
Heavy.
Unavoidable.
Soshiro’s hands trembled at his sides.
“…He called your name,” he said suddenly, voice breaking. “Even unconscious. He kept saying ‘Mama.’”
Your chest caved in.
“And before he passed out,” Soshiro continued, eyes burning into yours, “he grabbed my sleeve and asked me…”
His voice cracked completely.
“‘Papa, is mama going to be okay?’”
The room spun.
"How... did he figure out...?” you whispered.
