YOU were helpless. Your gaze stays glued to his back, your mouth was dry and your throat was full with a clump of void. Your heart felt heavy just like your shoulders as you breathed in and out deeply.
It didn't take long until your sight grows blurry. You couldn't make it clear again, realising your eyes were full with tears. Your hand immediately grasped your shirt, trying to rip it away as it made it harder for you to breathe.
The argument. It shouldn't have ended like this. No, not like this. Not him walking away and leaving you. It's all your fault. If only you kept your mouth shut, if only you could communicate properly, if only you could tell him your issues, if only—
I will just sleep through it. Tomorrow we'll act as if nothing happened.
Your lower lip starts to quiver ever so slightly, so softly. It was easy to miss. You blinked. The thought that it would solve by itself, when the next morning arises. It would solve through time.
But it will never heal.
Stay here. I beg you.
"...C-Can we solve this now please?" you stammered as you voiced out shakily, "I cannot sleep if you go like this..."
This was all it took. For him to stop mid track. He slowly turned around. And you saw it too — his glassy gaze that met your own teary eyes. The slight tremble of his lip, the balled up fist.
Sometimes it's hard to push through. But it's worth it.

Fights? Arguments? Fine. People insulting him? Whatever.
But you?
You completely destroy every defense mechanism he has.
Like always, after a fight, he'll drag himself back to his room, bruised and irritated, only to freeze the moment he sees you already sitting there waiting for him with your arms crossed.
His entire body immediately stiffens.
"W-Why are you looking at me like that?!"
You raise an eyebrow.
"Sit."
"I don't need—"
"Haruka."
The moment you say his name in that calm voice, he's already defeated.
He grumbles under his breath and sits down.
Then comes the worst part.
Every time your fingers brush against his skin while cleaning a cut or wrapping a bandage, his entire face turns bright red.
You don't even realize what you're doing to him. You're just focused on helping him. Meanwhile Sakura is having the worst crisis of his life.
"Stop moving."
"I-I'm not moving!"
"Then why are you flinching?"
Because you're touching him, because you're too close, because he can smell your shampoo, because your nails lightly scrape against his scalp when you move his hair away from a cut and by the time you're done, he's basically overheating.
And then you tell him to lie down...
"What?!"
"Lie down."
"I'm fine!"
"You almost got thrown through a wall."
Five minutes later he's lying down anyway.
You sit beside him and start gently scratching his scalp. Long nails carefully gliding through his pink-and-black hair.
His entire body goes rigid, you can practically hear the steam escaping from his ears.
"Relax."
"I AM RELAXED!"
He's absolutely not relaxed.
But after a while, exhaustion begins catching up to him as your fingers continue moving through his hair.
Scratching, massaging, playing with the strands.
For probably the first time in a very long time, Sakura feels safe enough to stop being on guard.
His eyes slowly close and the next thing he knows, he's asleep, head tilted slightly toward you.
And when he wakes up later and realizes he fell asleep because of your head scratches?
He's not speaking to anyone for three business days.
Hayato Suo
Hayato Suo is the kind of person who always seems composed. Always smiling, always elegant, always saying exactly the right thing.
He's observant enough to read everyone around him, yet somehow manages to reveal almost nothing about himself.
Most people assume he's untouchable because of it.
But you've learned something important about Suo.
Being perfect is exhausting.
There are moments, rare moments where his smile becomes quieter, his eyes become distant. Moments where he forgets to perform.
One afternoon the two of you sit together in a secluded spot and Suo simply stares ahead silently.
Not sad or upset. Just... tired.
But you don't ask him what's wrong.
Because you know him and you know if he wanted to tell you, he would.
Instead, you quietly pull him down and make him lie on your lap.
And perhaps for the first time in weeks, Hayato Suo is genuinely speechless.
"That is a rather bold suggestion."
"You look tired."
"Do I?"
"Very."
A small laugh escapes him.
For several seconds he simply stares up at you, completely stunned.
But then your fingers slide through his hair as your nails lightly scratch against his scalp.
"My, my," he murmurs softly. "If someone were to see us now, they might misunderstand."
You laugh.
"There's no one here so stop talking and enjoy it."
For a moment his breathing slows. And for once Hayato Suo allows himself to simply exist.
No expectations, no performance, just your fingers moving through his hair and the sound of your voice nearby.
A rare luxury.
One he secretly starts looking forward to far more than he should.
Kaji Ren
Kaji Ren doesn't know what to do with softness.
Fights, training, music, lollipop— those things make sense.
You don't.
Or rather, the way you make him feel doesn't.
At first, he thinks you're just being nice.
Sometimes you'll sit together sharing one earphone while a playlist plays quietly in the background. You'll start singing along absentmindedly, smiling to yourself while looking out the window.
And every single time, Kaji forgets the lyrics.
Because he's staring at you.
Then he realizes something dangerous.
He has started to look forward to seeing you, which immediately makes him panic.
Because Kaji isn't good with feelings, especially romantic ones. To him, the idea of liking someone feels terrifying.
What if he hurts you? What if he disappoints you? What if he isn't good enough?
So naturally, he starts avoiding you.
And every single time he does it, he feels awful.
Then one evening he returns home after a long day.
He's exhausted. His shoulders hurt. His head hurts. Everything hurts.
When he opens his apartment door, he notices a package sitting outside, with his name written on it.Inside are bags of his favorite lollipops with a small note resting on top.
"You looked tired lately. Make sure you're taking care of yourself too."
No signature, none needed.
His heart starts pounding immediately so fast that he actually puts a hand over his chest.
"...What the hell..."
And suddenly Kaji realizes, avoiding you feels impossible.
The next time he sees you, he's awkward as hell. You greet him normally, like you aren't responsible for the crisis currently happening inside his chest.
"Did you get the package?"
His ears immediately turn red.
"...Yeah."
"Did you like it?"
"...Yeah."
"That's good."
Your smile almost kills him.
After that he stops avoiding you and the two of you go back to sharing songs, sharing headphones, sometimes even sharing lollipops.
He still gets embarrassed every time, especially when you praise him.
One afternoon after watching him help someone, you gently pat his head.
"Good job, Ren."
He freezes and his ears become bright crimson.
His face follows shortly after.
His brain has completely stopped functioning.
Because that tiny headpat somehow feels more dangerous than every fight he's ever been in.
And from that day onward, Kaji starts secretly living for those moments.
Even if he'll never admit it.
Choji Tomiyama
Choji Tomiyama is strong, ridiculously strong.
But emotionally?
He's basically a giant puppy that wants attention, affection, and praise but pretends he doesn't.
At least for the first five minutes.
The moment he realizes you're willing to provide all three?
It's over.
The first time it happens, he had spent the entire day helping people and in the evening, you find him sprawled dramatically across a bench.
"Wow." You laugh. "You look dead."
"I am dead."
Without thinking, you sit beside him and start running your fingers through his hair.
A simple gesture, one you'd do for anyone you care about.
Choji immediately goes quiet.
You look down.
His eyes are closed but a ridiculous smile sits on his face.
"Choji?"
"This is nice, don't stop."
From then on it becomes a problem.
Because Choji quickly learns he likes your affection, a lot. So after particularly exhausting days, he'll immediately seek you out.
One afternoon he finds you sitting under a tree and without saying a word, he walks over and drops directly into your lap.
You nearly choke.
"CHOJI!"
"What?"
"You can't just do that!"
"Why not?"
His answer is completely genuine. in his mind, this is the most natural thing in the world.
He's tired, you're comforting.
Problem solved.
A few moments later your fingers are already scratching his scalp.
His eyes close instantly as a content sigh escapes him.
He wraps an arm loosely around your waist, like someone settling into their favorite blanket.
"There." Choji smiles. "My reward."
"Reward for what?"
"I contributed to society."
You burst out laughing.
He grins proudly.
Then five minutes later he's asleep, head resting in your lap, arms around your waist while your fingers continue moving through his hair.
For Choji, it's probably the closest thing to heaven.
And unfortunately for him, every single moment only makes his crush worse.
Jo Togame
Jo Togame spends a long time convincing himself he doesn't have feelings for you.
You're too kind, too gentle, too good.
And him?
He's Jo Togame, a guy who spent years carrying violence on his shoulders. A guy who always thinks every problem is somehow his responsibility. A guy who sees himself far more harshly than anyone else ever could.
So naturally he keeps his distance, at least at first.
Unfortunately for him, you're impossible to ignore.
Whenever you visit Shishitoren headquarters, you're never there for any special reason.
You're helping someone clean, helping someone study, helping someone patch up a scrape, listening to problems nobody else notices.
And every single time while Togame watches from a distance, his heart softening despite himself.
Then you spot him, and smile.
That smile is his greatest weakness.
Every time, you wave enthusiastically and suddenly this strong, intimidating fighter completely forgets how to function.
The situation gets worse when other members start paying attention to you too.
Some try flirting, some try impressing you, some simply enjoy being around you.
And every single one of them annoys him.
One day he finally snaps.
"You shouldn't come here by yourself."
You blink.
"Why?"
He sighs.
"There's no telling what kind of trouble you'll get dragged into."
You stare at him for a moment.
Then smile, a real smile. The kind that always destroys him.
"I'm not worried."
"...Why not?"
"Because you're here."
He freezes.
Your answer is immediate.
"I know you'll protect me."
Togame genuinely feels his heart stop.
Because to you it isn't some grand statement, it's just trust, pure and uncomplicated, something you've given him so naturally.
"Tch." He looks away. "You shouldn't trust me that much."
"Why not?"
"I'm still a guy." His voice drops lower. "And not exactly a good one."
Before he can continue, your hand gently covers his mouth.
His eyes widen.
You smile.
"Togame, you're one of the kindest people I know."
His chest tightens.
"You carry everyone's problems, you blame yourself for everything, you help people before they even ask." Your voice grows softer. "And that's exactly why I trust you."
For once Jo Togame has absolutely no argument, because you've somehow seen through every wall he built around himself.
He closes his eyes and lets out a long sigh.
Then finally stops fighting his feelings.
Because against you?
He never really had a chance.
Hajime Umemiya
The thing about Hajime Umemiya is that he realizes he likes you much earlier than he intended.
At first, he tries to convince himself it's kind.
You happen to be good at treating injuries, you make good food, you're reliable. That's all.
Then one day Kotoha points out something very interesting.
"You know there are at least twenty people who would patch you up if you asked, right?"
Umemiya immediately goes silent.
Because she's right.
There are plenty of people. People who admire him, people who care about him, people who would happily help him.
And yet somehow, after every fight, his feet always carry him to the same place.
To you, every single time.
The moment he walks through the door, you'll immediately stand up.
"Sit."
"Hello to you too."
"Sit."
He laughs and obeys.
Not because he has to, but because he likes it.
He likes the way your brows furrow when you notice a cut. Likes the way your fingers carefully clean his injuries. Likes the way you scold him under your breath whenever he gets hurt.
"This one's deeper than last time."
"The other guy looked worse."
"Hajime."
"...Sorry."
You sigh.
He smiles.
Every time.
Because every time your fingers brush his skin while applying bandages, his chest gets a little warmer. Every time you hand him homemade food afterward, he finds himself smiling like an idiot.
"You made this?"
"Obviously."
"For me?"
"Who else?"
That answer destroys him every single time.
Then comes his favorite part, the quiet moments afterward.
The moments where he's finished eating and simply sits beside you. Listening to your voice, watching you talk, watching you smile, watching you exist.
And the worst part?
He knows exactly what he's doing.
He's absolutely using every excuse possible to spend more time with you.
A scrape that barely needs a bandage? He's showing up.
A bruise he'll normally ignore? He's showing up.
Anything that gives him an excuse to see you? He's showing up.
Because being around you feels peaceful, a rare kind of peace. The kind he doesn't get often.
And if he gets to spend a little extra time with his crush in the process?
Well, he's certainly not going to complain.
Yamato Endo
At first, Yamato Endo doesn't realize he's developing a habit.
He simply notices things, that's what he's always done.
People fascinate him, especially when they don't behave the way he expects.
And you?
You make absolutely no sense.
Everywhere he looks, you're helping someone. Helping a classmate carry books. Helping an old woman cross the street. Listening to someone's problems. Sharing your lunch. Offering encouragement. Always smiling, always gentle, always kind.
At first he observes because he's curious. Then he keeps observing because he enjoys it.
Then suddenly he realizes he's actively looking for you.
And that's where the problem starts.
Because Endo knows exactly what people think of him, of his group, of the people he surrounds himself with.
Thugs, troublemakers, delinquents.
People cross the street when they see them and get nervous.
It's normal.
So naturally he assumes you're no different.
Sure, you're kind but surely even you have limits. Surely you'd be nervous around him.
Then one afternoon he's sitting alone near your school. A fresh scrape sits along his jaw another on his hand. Nothing serious.
He's not even paying attention to them, until a shadow falls across him.He looks up and freezes.
You're standing there, smiling, holding out a small tube.
"Here."
Endo blinks.
"...What's this?"
"Ointment." You smile. "I've noticed you get cuts pretty often."
His mind immediately goes blank.
You've noticed?
"It helps them heal faster."
For the first time in a very long while, Yamato Endo is genuinely speechless. Not because of the ointment but because of the fact that you paid enough attention to notice. And cared enough to do something about it.
Then a familiar smirk slowly appears.
"That's sweet."
You smile. "Is that a yes?"
He holds up his hand.
"Since you're offering." His grin widens. "Put it on for me."
He expects hesitation, awkwardness, nervousness. Instead you simply sit down beside him.
"Okay."
And just like that, you're gently applying ointment to his cuts. Completely unbothered, completely comfortable, like you're not afraid of him at all.
The entire time Endo simply watches.
Your careful movements, your concentration, the concern in your eyes. And something in his chest finally snaps.
Because no, you're not treating him like a thug. You're not treating him like someone dangerous.
You're treating him like someone worth caring about.
And unfortunately for him?
That's exactly the moment he realizes he's completely finished. Absolutely, hopelessly done for.
Kyotaro Sugishita
Everything starts because of a stolen bag.
Someone tried to snatch your bag, he intervened, the idiot got scared and runs, end of story.
At least that's what he thought because apparently, you disagree.
And from that day onward, every time you see him, something happens.
The first time, you hand him a chocolate, the second time, it's chips, the third time, it's a drink. The fourth time, you're suddenly grabbing his wrist and dragging him toward a bench because he has a cut on his arm.
"Sit down."
"...Why?"
"Because you're bleeding."
"...It's fine."
"Sit."
And somehow he does.
At first Sugishita is completely confused because he doesn't understand why you are being so nice.
Why are you always smiling at him? Why do you keep approaching him?
Then he starts recognizing a pattern.
Every single time you see him, your entire face lights up, like seeing him makes you happy.
"Sugishita!"
He hears his name from across the street, looks up and immediately spots you running toward him waving enthusiastically.
The sight alone nearly kills him.
Because nobody has ever looked that happy to see him before. Not even Umemiya himself.
So since then, he starts waiting for it, without realizing. Looking around corners, checking crowds, wondering if you'll show up. And every single time you do, his day somehow gets better.
Then one afternoon you approach him holding a hair tie.His heart immediately starts panicking.
"Can I ask you something?"
"...Okay."
You smile.
"Can I tie your hair?"
Silence.
Sugishita genuinely thinks his soul leaves his body.
"...Why?"
"Because I think it'd look nice. You have a very handsome face and your hair always hides it."
How is he supposed to respond to that? How?Eventually he gives a stiff nod and you immediately brighten.
A few minutes later you're standing in front of him, carefully gathering his hair. Your fingers occasionally brushing against his neck.
His ears turning redder by the second.
And when you're finished, the effect is catastrophic.
You beam.
"See? You look handsome."
Sugishita nearly dies, so does the members of bofurin.
Because somehow Sugishita looks even more intimidating and significantly more attractive.
The compliments start immediately but Sugishita ignores all of them.
Because there's only one compliment replaying inside his head.
And unfortunately for him, he's already fallen far too hard to recover now.
Akihito Nirei
Nirei thinks you're amazing.
Honestly, everyone knows it, including him.
He just tries very hard not to say it every five minutes.
The problem is that you're always encouraging him.
Every time he successfully helps someone, every time he tries hard, every time he pushes himself forward...You're there.
Smiling, supporting him, believing in him.
And Nirei absolutely treasures it.
One afternoon after helping resolve a situation, he practically runs over to tell you about it.
A hand on his shoulder, a gentle smile, your fingers brushing through his hair... And every single time, Nirei feels his heart melt.
Because when you look at him, you never see his weaknesses. You only see someone worth encouraging.
And that's something he'll always cherish.
Mitsuki Kiryu
Mitsuki Kiryu figures out he's in trouble very quickly.
Because unlike some of the others, he's actually self-aware enough to recognize a crush when it happens.
The problem?
Knowing doesn't help, not when you're involved.
You have this habit of taking care of people so naturally that half the time you don't even realize you're doing it.
One moment you're listening to someone talk, the next you're fixing their collar, straightening their hair, brushing lint off their sleeve. It's second nature to you.
And unfortunately for Kiryu, he's one of your favorite victims because apparently you consider him as your "guy best friend".
One afternoon the two of you are sitting together while he scrolls through his phone, you suddenly lean closer.
"Hold still."
"Hm?"
Your fingers immediately start fixing his hair. A few strands had fallen out of place, nothing serious.
At least to you.
To Kiryu?
It's a disaster.
Because you're concentrating so hard. So close, so gentle and completely unaware of what you're doing to him.
"There." You smile proudly. "Much better."
Kiryu stares.
Then laughs softly.
Not because anything is funny, because he's trying very hard not to completely melt.
As time passes, he grows shameless.
Whenever you're together, he finds himself leaning closer using he excuse of being your friend. Resting beside you, letting you play with his hair... Not because he needs it, but because he likes how caring you become.
The truth is, Mitsuki Kiryu has always been good at making people comfortable. Yet somehow, around you, the roles reverse.
You make him feel cared for.
And every time your fingers slide through his hair while you're listening to him talk, he finds himself thinking the same thing.
Yeah. I'm definitely in love with her...
And honestly? At this point, there's nothing he can do about it.
3 times he should have been mad at you & 1 time he was
ren kaji x reader, wc: 3k, req? no.
Sakura thinks he's gotten to know his fellow Bofurin members pretty well.
Suo likes to be a tease. Nirei likes to know everything about the people he admires. Hiragi is a worrier and Umemiya is a fantastic leader.
He thinks he knows about Ren Kaji, too. He's a hothead, who likes to keep to himself and doesn't let others mess with his personal bubble.
Except, Sakura is coming to realize, there's an exception.
And it's you.
He doesn't notice it right away. You're not a member of Bofurin, but just someone who hangs around. A friend of the second years, really. He knows enough about you to know that you've been friends with Kaji since middle school, and that's about it.
Oh, another thing Sakura knows about you.
Kaji lets you get away with things that would get a lesser man beaten up.
first offense: stealing his candy
Sakura isn't sure why he’s trailing behind Tamon team's second years on patrol, but he’s doing his job diligently. Kaji is leading the group, with Enomoto and Kusumi close by. It's been a relatively slow afternoon, and he's thankful that he doesn't have to worry about chasing down any losers that wander into town.
That's when you appear.
You're in your school uniform, he notices, but what grabs his attention most is how you easily slide up to the second year's grade captain.
"Hey, Ren," You smile the moment Kaji tugs his headphones off of one ear. There's not much emotion on his face, but the fact that he's even acknowledging you shows how much he cares.
"You just get out of club?" Kaji asks, and Kusumi pulls Enomoto and Sakura away to give you a moment of privacy to chat. You offer the boys smiles as they pass, but you're much too entranced by Kaji before you to pay them much mind.
"Yeah," You nod, assuring him. Your smile melts into a pout, and you watch as Kaji's eyes track the change despite his expression staying fixed neutral. "I'm supposed to go to extra tutoring classes now, but I'd rather skip."
"idiot," He huffs before he, most likely, even thinks. You don't blanch at the abrasive comment like most would, though. Instead, the edges of your smile start to come back. "You're too worried about your grades to skip tutoring."
He's right, but you don't feel like admitting it.
"It'll be almost dark by the time I'm out, though." You're pouting again, fingers twisting in the fabric of your uniform skirt. It's not that you're nervous; more so in need of something to occupy your hands while you chat.
"Text me what time and I'll walk you home." Kaji offers casually, though you see the red flush starting to creep up from under the neckline of his sweatshirt. "Don't be stupid and walk home at night alone."
"Okay," You roll your eyes, dragging out the two syllable word, but you're smiling nonetheless. "You have a funny way of showing you care, Ren."
"Shut up." He huffs, the exasperated sound drawing a laugh out of you. It's light and airy, and you don't miss the way Kaji seems to flush brighter at the sound.
You wish you could stay and talk all evening with him, but you really do have places you need to be. With a sigh, you pout once more and check the time on your phone.
"Shit. I've got to run or else I'll be late." You groan, shoving your phone back into your pocket. You take a step forward, towards Kaji, and that's when it happens.
Sakura can only watch—in utter horror—as you shove your hand into the front pocket of Kaji's hoodie. Right where he keeps his candy stash hidden away.
You do it so casually, so naturally, Sakura almost doesn't believe his eyes. It's over in nearly the blink of an eye, too, before you emerge with a stolen lollipop clenched tight between your fingers.
From where he's watching with the others a few paces away, Sakura braces, waiting for Kaji's shouts to back off of him.
But it doesn't come.
Instead, Kaji sticks his hand in his pocket and pulls out a second lollipop—extending it to you silently. You're grinning as you collect it alongside your stolen candy, and Sakura is trying to figure out how you're getting away with extra lollipops and no shouting.
He can only watch, in both confusion and amazement, as you accomplish a task no other would be able to.
You leave with a cheery goodbye, and Sakura is left with ears burning red after witnessing the situation.
verdict: not guilty
second offense: touching his headphones
Sakura thinks it might be a one-off thing. That Kaji might've just been in a rare good mood, or figured it might look bad if he shouted at you in the street on patrol.
They're not very likely, but it's all he has to work with.
Until a few days later, there's an impromptu Bofurin dinner at a local restaurant.
It's Tamon team leadership, mostly. Plus Umemiya, who makes up in energy to fill the space. The dinner is fine, nothing remarkable, until just before orders are placed and you arrive.
He hasn't seen you since he ran into you on patrol, and Sakura can only watch as you take the last open seat next to Kaji.
Kusumi, Sakura realizes later, had vacated his spot to make room for you.
You're smiling at everyone as you join the rowdy group of Bofurin boys. Kaji barely glances up from the menu as you sit down, but you do feel him knock his leg against yours under the table in acknowledgment.
He's wearing his headphones inside the restaurant, so you know something is bothering him. Probably from patrol, or class, and you make a note to ask him later before diving into the conversations happening around the table.
"I didn't know you'd be coming!" Umemiya cheers loudly, just as soon as you're settled. Hiragi hisses for him to quiet down, but the warning falls on deaf ears.
"I wasn't," You admit, toying with the edge of the menu to busy your hands. "But Ren texted and said to meet you guys out."
There's a chorus of 'oh, that makes sense' that rings out from around the table, and the topic swiftly moves on. You're quick to decide what you want from the menu and set it aside, pulling out a pen from your purse instead of joining Umemiya's conversation regarding vegetable plants.
There's a paper napkin on the table sitting between you and Kaji, and you draw a nine-square grid on it without saying a word. In the center, you mark the letter x, playing your first move.
You press your knee sideways into Kaji's thigh, leaving it there even after you get his attention.
With you offering him the pen, he knows what you want and he's quick to acquiesce. He doesn't remove his headphones, though, and you pout at the action.
He marks an o in the top right corner of the grid.
You get through three silent games of tic-tac-toe—moving closer into his space each turn—before the waitress comes back around to take the orders. There's nothing of note happening, until she gets to Kaji, who can't hear her ask what he wants with his headphones still on and blaring music.
You react before anyone can even wave to get his attention, much to Sakura's horror.
One moment there's silence, waiting for Kaji to realize he's being spoken to, and the next—you're pulling his headphones off and holding them close to your body, out of his reach.
"Ren," You call his name gently, headphones still clutched in your hands. You nod your head in the direction of the waitress, catching him up to what's happening around him. "What're you ordering?"
Sakura expects there to be a blowout, right there in the middle of the restaurant. He's never seen anyone touch Kaji's headphones besides Kaji, and you just tugged him right off his head without any preamble.
Instead, Kaji just looks at the waitress and gives his order in a bored tone. He makes a note that he's paying for your meal, too, and no one else at the table seems to bat an eye.
"Put my headphones in your bag," Kaji tells you flatly. He's not ordering you around, but he's earned the stern attention of Hiragi down the table for his response. You don't need the older boy to help rein Kaji in, though, because you don't even flinch before leveling him with a pointed look. Kaji huffs, the tips of his ears suddenly tinged red. "Please."
"That's more like it." You grin, happily stuffing Kaji's precious headphones into your purse for the remainder of dinner. "I'll keep 'em safe, Ren."
"Yeah," Kaji huffs, fiddling with the pen and not looking directly at you. He's entirely too apathetic about headphones he's never seen without, and it doesn't make sense to Sakura. "Whatever. Your turn."
Sakura can only watch as you and Kaji go back to your own little world, heads ducked close together and mumbling about the game you're playing on a napkin.
Sakura flushes. He thinks he's starting to put the pieces together.
verdict: not guilty
third offense: taking his clothes
Sakura doesn't really mean to catch the third time Ren Kaji should blown up on you.
It's just, Pothos Café is his place. It's part of his daily routine, a place of comfort, whether he wants to admit it or not. He doesn't go into the café one weekend morning for breakfast with the intent of observing you and Kaji, but it's just something that happens.
The two of you are already seated in a corner booth by the time he arrives. Papers strewn out across the space, two mugs of coffee and a single plate already emptied of its contents. You wave to Sakura, and he waves back, but then he sits at the counter to order and you go back to work.
It took a lot of work to convince Kaji to go out and study with you on a Saturday morning. Really, you're impressed with yourself that you managed to pull it off.
Though, he has spent the better part of your study time looking at his phone, headphones sat around his shoulders but blasting music so loud you could hear it from across the table.
The spirit is there, at least.
"Are you getting any more coffee?" You ask Kaji, breaking the silence that had fallen over your chosen booth while you worked through a mountain of homework. You've been eyeing your empty mug for the past five minutes, debating about asking Kotoha behind the counter for a refill.
"Why? You want some?" Kaji counters with a question, looking up from his phone for the first time in a while. You guess he more so agreed to go to Pothos with you than to go to Pothos and study.
"Yeah, I think." You decide, setting down your pencil with the intention to get up and ask for a refill. But you don't get to move more than a few inches before Kaji is up, your mug in hand as he walks towards the counter.
You smile as you watch him go, asking Kotoha for a second mug so your studying isn't interrupted. It's silly, really, how such small things make you so happy.
While he's up, you spot his bag sitting on the opposite side of the booth just as the chill of the café suddenly gets to you.
"Ren, I'm taking your sweatshirt!" You call out, more as an announcement than asking for permission. By the time Sakura turns his head to look, you're already digging in his bag to look for the aforementioned article of clothing.
Kaji is leaning against the counter, near enough to Sakura that he's cautious as he waits for his response. If not shouting, Sakura thinks, then at least a stern warning to stay out of his stuff.
Instead, Kaji shrugs, barely looking up from his phone to see what you're doing.
"'Kay," Kaji mumbles, waiting for Kotoha to refill your coffee. "Don't spill shit on it this time."
"I won't," You reply cheerily, tugging the sweatshirt on and getting back to work.
Like it's all normal.
Sakura feels his mind stall, then his face flush. Kaji had said this time. Which means you've taken his clothes more than once. Sakura feels like he might combust if he thinks about it too long, so instead he turns and blushes into his plate of omelette rice.
He tries to pretend he doesn't hear Kotoha snickering.
verdict: not guilty. possibility of repeat offenses.
final offense: letting some no name shishitoren boy get too close to you
Sakura has no idea what occasion Umemiya managed to come up with for Bofurin's latest mixer at the school.
It's not just Furin High in attendance, but Shishitoren and other friends, too. Like you. He doesn't think much of it when he sees you arrive early on in the party, his focus more so on surviving an evening of Suo's public teasing.
It's not until later when Nirei grabs his arm and whisper-shouts your name that Sakura realizes something might be wrong.
"Oh no." Nirei panics, setting Sakura on edge and merely gaining Suo's attention. "Kaji isn't going to be happy about this..."
"What's happening now?" Sakura is on alert, head swiveling around to find the source of Nirei's panic. All he finds are party goers enjoying the drinks and snacks painstakingly set out on tables, mixing and chatting like any normal event.
"Ah, I see." Suo hums, though his smirk doesn't fade, so Sakura thinks it shouldn't be too bad. "Poor boy won't know what'll hit him."
"The hell are you two on about?" Sakura snaps, tired of looking around like an idiot and being the only one not in the know. It's then that Nirei repeats your name and points, picking you out of the crowd.
You're on the outskirts of the mixer, near one of the refreshment tables. You're talking from somebody he doesn't recognize from Shishitoren, and Sakura's face immediately flushes when he takes in the boy's body language.
Clearly, you're being hit on.
From what he can see, you're being a good sport about it. You've always been kind every time he spoke to you, and he doesn't think this time is different.
But even from so far away, Sakura can tell that you're not interested.
"What's the big deal? If he's making her uncomfortable, we can step in." Sakura shrugs, watching your interaction with the Shishitoren boy closely for any signs that you want out of the conversation.
"That is the big deal." Suo croons, point unsubtly to a new figure on the scene. Kaji.
Sakura can only watch as Kaji storms up to you and the Shishitoren boy, frown etched so deeply onto his face it can only scream trouble. Still, you only smile at Kaji, far brighter than what you had given the other boy.
Kaji pulls his lollipop from his mouth like he's going to start yelling. You shove the candy back in to muffle whatever he had to say.
"Uh," Sakura can't look away from the scene. He's ready to interrupt if Kaji starts to blow a fuse, but he knows Enomoto, Kusumi, or Hiragi would be better suited to help. "Should we—"
He interrupts himself, then, when you wrap your hand around Kaji's and drag him in the direction of the school. He watches until the two of you disappear into the building, and it's then that he looks at his two friends.
"What was that?" Sakura asks, but his face is starting to burn a deep crimson and he thinks he knows before anyone can answer his question.
"You didn't know?" Nirei asks, like anyone is as informed as him about members of Bofurin. Sakura just looks at him blankly, trying to avoid Suo's smug look at his blush. "They're dating. Have been, for a while."
And that... makes too much sense.
The one time Sakura sees Kaji get upset with you—and Kaji's not even upset with you. He's not mad. He's jealous.
Sakura's face is burning, now.
verdict: guilty
sentence: dealing with a pouty Ren Kaji
"Were you jealous, Ren?"
"No. Shut up." Your boyfriend fires off two quick to be believable.
Not to mention, he nearly just went off on the poor unsuspecting Shishitoren boy that was hitting on you.
You've snuck away from the mixer and into his empty classroom to take a break from the crowd. You're not sad to be away from the party, especially not when you're with Kaji.
"I can't believe it," You giggle, shaking your head. Perched atop a desk, you're sitting taller than Kaji. It doesn't help that he's slouched in a chair beside the desk you're on, arms crossed and headphones around his neck. "You were totally jealous."
"'M gonna leave if you don't stop." Kaji threatens, but you know it's empty. He's not convincing in the slightest—not when he leans forward to rest his elbow on your desk, chin propped up in the palm of his hand. "So what if I don't like seeing some idiot hit on my girlfriend?"
He's frowning, pouting, up at you. You're weak to the sight, and you know you need to reward him for expressing his feelings on the situation so openly.
"Sorry," You offer to soothe the burn of what had happened. Leaning forward, you press a short kiss to his pout. It's more of a peck than anything, and you know it's not enough to satisfy him. "I won't let it happen again. Cross my heart."
You sign over your chest, but before you could get through half the motion, Kaji grips your hand in his, threading your fingers together.
"Don't apologize for what that moron was doing." He's still frowning, and you know you have a while until you can get him back to normal.
You kiss him again.
Your boyfriend has a short temper, but never with you.

w/ SUO HAYATO, KIRYU MITSUKI, AND KAJI REN
part 2 with Sakura, Togame, and Uryu is here!
Tags: Descriptions of wounds (nothing too graphic, just mentions of blood and bruises), angst, hurt/comfort!
SUO HAYATO ⋆˙⟡
He should’ve seen this coming.
He’s carrying you on his back, his heart battering against his ribcage as you lie slumped over his back.
He’d been at home, completely ready for bed. Just before he tucked himself in though, he got a panicked phone call from Nirei, the blonde boy’s voice high pitched and frantic.
He’d rushed out of his house, not even bothering to change or put on shoes. When he’d gotten to the location Nirei sent him, he found you hunched over on yourself, sitting on a bench. Nirei was sitting next to you, his jacket on your shoulders. Sakura knelt in front of you, checking your injuries.
You looked up, and Suo’s heart shattered like porcelain. A stream of blood leaked from your nostrils, a bruise bloomed across your throat, and your left eye was swelling. Sakura stood up and Suo quickly took his place. He cupped your face in his hands, his thumbs brushing your cheeks as you tremble.
“What happened lovely?” he asked, his eyes wide and concerned.
You were silent for a brief moment before you slipped off the bench and into Suo’s arms. You sobbed, “I don’t even know . . . Hayato . . .”
He pulled you into his chest, stroking your hair and kissing your hairline. “Shhh, shh, take your time, it’s okay.”
You wiped your tears and whimpered. “I think someone recognized me . . . they saw me walking with you one day . . . they . . . they had a white jacket on . . . ?”
Sakura and Nirei shot each other sharp looks behind you, before eyeing Suo, who remained stone faced. You continued softly, “I think they wanted to get to you through me?”
Suo went rigid, his breath hitching. Of course. Of course. No one knows anything about him, any of his other weaknesses. Of course they’d go through the first option they’re given. He was an idiot. He was so fucking stupid.
He kissed your forehead and shook his head. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“. . . ” he removed Nirei’s jacket from your shoulders and replaced it with his. Then, with the help of Sakura and Nirei, he got you situated on his back as he walked you home, to his apartment.
“Hayato,” you whisper, your soft voice snapping him out of his recollection of the past half hour.
“Yes lovely?” he asks, turning his head slightly towards you. You gently play with a tassel, and he smiles.
“Thank you for coming. It was by complete accident that Sakura and Nirei found me, but I'm thankful they did. I was so scared, but when I heard Nirei calling you . . . I was so relieved. I love you,” and then your head droops, sleep overtaking you as you breathe in and out deeply.
Suo almost trips over his own feet. His eyes go wide and he sighs. His heart swells and he kisses your cheek.
“I love you too,” he whispers, “so much lovely.”
KIRYU MITSUKI ⋆˙⟡
Kiryu has an inkling that something was wrong since the morning. It was currently noon, the sun blaring down on the two of you. He was very close to sweating but for some reason, you were in a sweater. The two of you were walking in a strip mall, hand in hand, window shopping.
He studied you, analyzing your appearance. He’d known that you had a crop top at home that you were excited to wear once the weather got warmer, so then why . . .?
“Mitsuki?” You ask, fanning yourself with your hand. “Are you okay?”
“Are you?” He asks softly. His voice is gentle as he brushes a strand of hair behind your ear. “Why’re you sweating like this sweetie? You should take your sweater off.”
You stiffen marginally, but relax just as fast. It doesn’t go unnoticed by your boyfriend though, who pouts and furrows his brow.
“I just bought this sweater,” you explain softly. “It’d be a waste to not wear it, right?”
“Then what about the tank tops you bought two weeks ago?” He presses. “That blue looked really cute on you.”
You hum and nod. “Hmmm yeah, maybe.”
“ . . . Cut it out,” he says pulling you closer. “Why’re you lying? Are you okay? Did something happen?” He hugs you and nuzzles his face into your neck. “I’m worried [name]-ie.”
You sigh after a moment, your hand coming up to pat his head. “It’s okay, I’m okay.”
“You’re gonna die of heatstroke!” he exclaims.
You sigh and shake your head, lifting a hand up to fan your face. “Mitsuki-” you begin, but suddenly your sleeve slides down your arm, and the edge of the bruise starts to peak out from behind the cuff.
Kiryu’s eyes narrow in on it and he instantly jumps. His hand wraps around your wrist and he pulls the sleeve down slowly, revealing a nasty bruise in the shape of a hand.
“ . . . Mitsuki-”
“What happened to you?” He asks, his voice hardened by shock. “Where did you get this from?”
“. . . it’s nothing,” you sigh. “I don’t know. Some guys just kinda cornered me the other day and were being asshats,” you mutter angrily. “They . . . beat me up.”
“What?” Kiryu asks. For a second he thinks he misheard you but the more uncomfortable you look by his silence, the more he knows that’s not true.
The two of you stare at each other for a moment before Kiryu drags you into the nearest department store. He leads you to the back of the store and pulls you into the first open stall.
“Mitsuki you can’t do thi-”
“I wanna see what they did. Take the sweater off.”
You stare at him indignantly for a few minutes before finally pulling the sweater up over your head. Bruises cover your torso, your stomach displaying an array of nasty purple splotches.
Kiryu stares at you, his face falling. “Why wouldn’t you tell me?” he asks quietly after a moment.
“Because they wanted a rise out of you and I didn’t want to give them that.”
“You should’ve told me,” he grabs your arms and yanks you into a hug, squeezing you tight against him.
“I’ll heal.”
“That’s not the point,” he whispers against your neck. He pulls himself back and stares deeply into your eyes, his own a whirlwind storm of different emotions. “You always take care of me whenever I’m injured,” he whispers, lifting your wrist up to give the inside of it a kiss. “I wanted to do the same for you.”
You don’t know how long the two of you stand there in the fitting room hugging, but eventually, you’re back at his place, in his shirt, on his bed, in his arms, and you’ve never felt safer in your life.
KAJI REN ⋆˙⟡
Kaji’s sun bathing on the roof, the heat soft against his skin. Music was blaring in his ears, a tiny smile graced his face as he pictures the date the two of you are about to go on later today: go to Pothos . . . get some food . . . hold hands . . .
His smile widens as he pictures it. He can’t wait.
But he won’t have to, cuz you come to him. Or more like someone drags you to him.
“Kaji!” Enomoto shouts, yanking his headphones off.
Kaji sits up and looks through the chain link fence blocking the edge of the roof. At first he doesn’t see what Enomoto is pointing at, but then . . . he sees it.
Kusumi is already hurrying to your side, and scoops your limp body into his arms as he checks your injuries. More second years also rush to your body to look over you. They all know you through your relationship with Kaji, and they all see you as a sister of sorts.
Kaji is bursting through doors and racing through hallways, desperate to get to you. When he finally gets out to the courtyard, his heart is thrumming in his chest as his peers part to let him approach.
Kusumi sets you gently in Kaji’s arms, and Kaji tucks you under his chin. He looks up at Kusumi and Enomoto, who kneels by your side to assess your damage.
Kaji’s fingers dig into your arm as he growls, “What the fuck is this?”
You cough hoarsely as Kusumi says, “I got a text of a photo from an unknown number. Here,” Kusumi shows a photo of a broken you, your body in a fetal position to try and deflect the beating. You face has cuts all over it and bruises mar whatever skin is visible in the picture.
“It was probably a few stragglers from Keel who wanted revenge,” another second year theorizes.
Kaji grits his teeth and pulls you tighter against him. The fact that those lowlife scum would go after you . . . he’ll kill them all. The white hot rage that he knows all too well floods his system and short circuits his senses. He can feel it taking control of his brain. It threatens to take complete hold over him, turning his vision red.
“Ren…?” You whisper against his jaw.
And just like that, he snaps out of it. The other boys freeze as you speak. Kaji gently pulls you back so he can better see into your eyes. Your poor sweet eyes, which are teary and scared. He hates seeing you like this. Hates knowing how scared you must’ve been when you were being assaulted.
"C'mon, let's get you patched up," he mutters. He lifts you in his arms and carries you inside the school, calling for someone to prepare the nurse's office.
“Ren,” you whisper into his neck. Enomoto shouts for some food and water as you continue, “I was so scared.”
Kaji can only give a tight nod. He doesn’t know what else to do. He feels horrible, like this is all his fault. In a way, he supposes it is. When he feels you nuzzle against him, soaking in his scent, he wants to throw you far away from him, that way he can never accidentally cause you pain like this again.
Nevertheless, he carries you back into the school and into the nurse’s office, where a first aid kit is being organized, and some dorayaki and milk is brought forward to you. Some of the boys fuss over you, bandaging your cuts and pouring water into your mouth. You thank them graciously. Kaji stands off to the side, watching the ordeal unfold.
Once they’re done, everyone leaves you and Kaji alone. He holds your hand and you rub your thumb along his hand.
“I’m sorry,” he croaks after he watches you silently for a moment. Anguish is written in his eyes.
“. . . Just hold my hand,” you whimper. "That always makes it better, right?" What choice does Kaji have but to comply?
He gives your hand a firm squeeze and you lean against him. He kisses your hair and you fall asleep, your body exhausted, but protected at last.

implied/canon info about wind breaker characters that people don't talk about enough:
- sakura doesn't argue back when he's seriously arguing with someone he genuinely cares about. he just limply accepts whatever is thrown at him. (manga)
- umemiya considers everyone in the town family and protects them so much because he doesn't want to lose more family, as he did in his childhood. (manga)
- sugishita despises fighting unless it's for umemiya. he really just wants to live a quiet life with his grandparents and not have to constantly get involved. (manga)
- sakura only recently discovered that he liked omelette rice, implying that sakura didn't even know what he liked before coming to makochi. (manga volume 1 omake)

Big n’ beefy men who get incredibly turned on when it rains. Walk with me here…
They don’t know what it is about the clouds darkening on the sky above or that fresh scent of earth that sticks to the air when it rains. Something about that heavy raining weather makes their libidio higher than the clouds. The contrast of being inside, between your legs, all warm and sweaty while it storms outside makes him unbelievably hard. You know the moment the clouds start to gather before a storm, he’s eyeing you from across the room with a drenched look of insatiable hunger in his eyes. To him, you looked utterly ravishing in the dark lighting of the house, so perfectly his type. His woman.
When the rain starts to pitter-patter against the window outside, he’s breathing into your ears, groaning— preaching for you to submit to his touches. Teeth and tongue all over your neck. It’s hot and wet and you can’t escape the hold he has on you. He’s taller, bigger, bulky biceps flexing with each tug and pull. His hair is already a shambled mess. When you turn to look him in the eyes, he’s half-lidded, lashes shadowing over his consuming gaze. He’s on you before you can say anything, swollen lips tangling with yours, sucking and swirling until his tongues in your mouth, rubbing his slippery pink tongue in circles with yours.
Groaning, his one hand is on the back of your hair, fingers combed firmly enough so he could adjust your head to an angle he wanted to tongue-fuck you in. And you’re giving up— giving into his overbearing touch. Giving yourself away to the way he breathed you in like you were the only source of oxygen he could survive off of. When he pulls away to look at your eyes and then at your lips, you want to pull him back, arms coming up around his broad, muscular shoulders as you whine into his ears about how badly you needed him and how you’d go crazy if he didn’t fuck you right now.
Without a second word, you’re tossed and folded on the edge of the squeaky bed, practically sliding off without any leverage and the weight he’s putting over yours isn’t helping much but you’re helpless under him when he’s everywhere; undressing you, undressing himself, touching you, kissing you— he’s all you can feel and all you can think of. You’re driving him to the brink of madness with the way you’re looking up at him so needy, pretty lips parted just slightly. As if he wasn’t hard already.
The bulging strain in his boxer almost hurt. The man in front of you could hardly contain himself, so he’s tearing your panties down your legs to your pretty feet. Briefly, he pulls away for a moment, kissing the heel of your toes with a grunt and a slow buck of his hips, making you look down. Your eyes widening at the sight of his cock pointed almost straight at you, as if beckoning for you to grab it, teasing. There’s a damp spot on his joggers, slowly spreading into a wider pool, you wet your bottom lips with your tongue as if tasting his pre.
He notices and he smirks, he wants to tease but he’s lost all self control so he’s stripping himself, practically ripping his boxers during the act. Cock springing free, he doesn’t waste a moment. He’s on you, full weight over yours, it’s almost suffocating but you need this— need him so bad. It felt like you were restrained, unable to do anything under him or have any control over your own body as he brought himself to your ears to whisper “I’m going to make you feel every inch of me.” as he's pushing past your entrance. An agonizingly slow drag, both your breaths hitching and ragged, breathing in each other.
There’s that intense stretch for your puckered pussy and the soul-sucking tightness for his unit of a cock. You’re both groaning when he’s fully sheathed into your hilt, hips connected to yours while he's all up in your guts, the deepest parts of you. The sting and burn of his whole cock inside of you doesn’t make you moan nor does it make you scream, it makes you go dead silent, breathless, unable to create a sound as you become incapable of forming a functional thought because all you could think about was him inside you. How this intrusion was so intensely lustful yet somehow, so romantic.
Your mouth falls agape as he pushes your knees up against your chest to ram himself in an angle that makes you lose your vision. The sounds finally start ripping from your throat when his pace quickens rapidly, all strength and stamina. Each slap of his hips into your sopping, wet hole is filthy. The squelch of your combined liquids traveling into your ears with every thrust. You were broken and limp, body gone slack as his power overtook you, swallowing you under his larger frame while he fucked you into the mattress.
The least of your concern was the fact that you were about to slide off the mattress when he was making you shout so pitifully, crying and babbling. It’s overbearing how he’s coming onto you, whispering so sweetly about how you’re so perfect, his perfect wife, his whole life, and how you were made for him. Tears cloud your vision and pool down your cheeks as youre sniffling and hiccuping at how gentle his words were opposed to his inescapable fucking. Cock all up in your stomach until you’re clawing and digging into his back for help from him. “Fuck, baby. See that storm outside? M’trynna match its rhythm. ‘Ts raining so damn hard, I wanna match the beat of the thunder. See? Ya hear that?” and you do, you hear lightning strike so close, goosebumps raise on your skin. He counts under his breath “One…two…three…” then thrusts alongside the sound of the second thunder making you squeal. “Count with me for the next one, baby.” Obeying, you count with him and he thrusts again, pulling out and pushing back into you.
Body tensing up, your back naturally arches with his movements until your toes curl and your eyelids shut tightly. “I’m—I’m close!” you’re mewling, pawing at his sweaty chest. His only response is caging you in, both arms planted on each side of your head, picking his pace up until you’re orgasming with the sound of the next thunder. Gushing and stuttering like a broken toy, you’re all teary eyed and a wet fucking mess, his eyes stay locked on yours while he grunts through gritted teeth, cumming inside of your battered pussy. Filling every empty bit of you with his thick, white cum. Until there was nothing left of you that wasn’t touched by him.
After you’re both down from your highs, he pulls out but remains on top of you, breathing hard against your skin. He nuzzles his nose to the side of your cheek to ask “You okay baby? Hurts?” With the softest voice reminding you of how gentle and affectionate he usually is. You’re only able to pathetically nod, earning soft kisses to your cheek. Then you turn to look out the window and see that the rains gotten lighter than before and the sky’s starting to clear up as the storm clouds moved away. He scratches his neck apologetically saying “Sorry, the weather makes me so damn horny.”

What just happened.
All Sakura remembered was the way his chest tightened up. The way his hands curled into a fist as he stand up from the table. Omurice half eaten. The way he pushed through the door of Pothos without another care.
He would never do this. Would never so quickly run out while talking to Umemiya-san. Never leave his Omurice uneaten. Never push past Togame to keep chasing. So why did he do it today?
It’s because of you.
His breathing increased as he watched a stranger run away with not only your stuff, but you. His dry flaky clenched around your wrist as he continues to run. His oily hair shining in the day light as he turns into an alleyway. Your shoes scratching against the sound as a scream.
The image of you replays in Sakura’s mind. Your wide eyes. Your hand trying to pry your wrist free. Your red wrists. You looked scared. Which only made Sakura feel like a ghostly hand was wrapping at his heart. Cutting off all the love you’ve given him.
No. He can’t lose you. He can’t lose you after you’ve shown him that you loved him. He can’t lose you after all the times you’ve shown up for him. Not now. Not ever. He had to save you.
All Sakura could do was run. Run to save you. Run to save the person who smiles at him despite all his flaws. Run to fight the person who dare tries take away his home. His legs begin to ache as he follows after him. Teeth clashing against each other.
His heart sinks as he watch the guy turn one more corner. He knew it was a dead-end. He knew you wouldn’t be able to escape. He knew he was your one shot of survival. So, he sprinted.
Sprinting despite the ache in his legs. Despite his shallow breathing. Despite his pounding heart. Because all that matters was you. The fact that you are in danger.
Well, was in danger
Sakura eyes widen as his feet stop. Staring at the scene before him. His pounding heart slowing down. Hand unclenching.
His mind was racing with questions. How did? Why? Are you? His heart started to hammers against his chest once more as he looks ahead of him.
The screams. Loud, high-pitched, deafening. Gutteral screams of pain echo through the alleyway. Making Sakura sharply take in a breath. Wincing at the display of violence. Wincing at the implied pain. Wincing at the sight.
The sight of you kicking your attacker in the balls.
Your eyes were wide. Your breaths calm as you swing your leg. Before turning to elbow him in the chest. Gritting your teeth as you watch him fall to his knees.
The man was hunched over. Shaking with his hand over his crotch. Eyes stuck to the floor beneath you. Hand gripping the floor as short gasps for air comes out of him.
It was terrifying seeing the girl, who wouldn’t dare yell at him, stand over a man hunched over. It was terrifying seeing the girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly send a kick straight someone twice her height. It was terrifying seeing his girlfriend beat a man up. The scene is almost as terrifying as a horror movie.
A horror movie he would love to see again.
Sakura felt his hands relax besides him. A small grin on his face as he watches. As he watches the man look up at you pitifully. As he watches the man beg for mercy. As he watches you deliver one final kick to his face.
You stand over him. Your face a mix of disgust and disappointment. You wiped you hands off on the side of his jacket. Eyebrows scrunched in frustration as you stare at the man’s limp form.
You looked horrific. The quiet concentration makes Sakura’s heart beat louder in his chest. The slight curl of your hands. The frown tugging at your lips as your eyes stared the man dead.
You looked horrific. Horrifically hot.
Why the hell did you look so elegant? The soft rise and fall of your chest. The slight part of your lips. But the most gorgeous thing was your eyes.
You snapped your head to stare at Sakura.
Your mouth opened to say something, but Sakura couldn’t hear it. No, everything was a blur. Except those eyes.
Those eyes and the way your gaze changed. They were soulless as you stared ahead. Empty. Lifeless. But when you turned your head, your eyes widened slightly. Before, they lit back up with their usual shine. Shining bright as you gazed upon him. The only thing he could see in the reflection was his own mixed matched hair.
Your voice sounded light as you walked. No, ran towards him. Your voice following a simple melody as you stand before him. Flashing him the sweetest smile a man could ever see. His heart pang. He had to do something. His fear still rushing through him. He needed a way to calm down.
“Hi Haruka! I’m so sorry for being late, so you see th-“
All he could do was hug you. Two arms pressing your warm body against him. Hands clutching the back of your clothing. Continuously tighter. His head fell against your shoulder as he chokes out a sound. A soft, quiet, almost a cry. His body shakes as he grips you closer and closer.
His breathing was heavy against your ear. A sharp inhale, a shaky exhale. A warmth runs up and down your back as Sakura’s palm follows in suit. He squeezed you once. Twice. Three times. Before simply holding you in his arms.
“Don’t do stuff like that again,” His voice is cracking. A sob choking against his throat. “Don’t don’t,”
Don’t what?
That’s all you could think as your hands sink into his hair. Slowly running through the knots. Slowly running through the locks you compliment everyday. Slowly running through the thing that caught your eye that day.
Don’t what? Don’t fight? Don’t be so brutish? Your heart ached. It scream. A quiet devestating cry. It’s disgusting isn’t it? Seeing someone, someone so cheery fighting? Gosh of course he wouldn’t want to see you fight.
Your hands twirl one of his hair strands as he pulls you closer. Your hands cracked with blood. Your hands laced with the crimes of a punch. You could never be clean now. Hands always going to be a sickly red.
He is always going to know you made a man fall unconcious. You’re so gross. Of course you shouldn’t fight. Of course he says don’t-
“Don’t let me lose you,” his voice sounding more like a broken cry for help. His hands pull me in tighter, not letting me go. “Don’t scare me again,”
You felt your chest tighten. His hands squeeze you. Before he pulls away abruptly. Hands running up to cup your face gently. As if he was terrified of hurting you.
His eyes were shining. Tears threatening to fall, but Sakura wasn’t letting them. Not when his love is safe. Not when you’re safe. Not when the only thing shining in his eyes is the sight of your face. A sight he was certain he would never see again.
“He could of hurt you,” Sakura says softly. Eyes glancing to the man on the floor. “I couldn’t do anything,”
He looks like he’s about to cry. About to beg you to be more careful. About to scream about how horrible some men are.
But no, he laughs. A choked stupid laugh as he pulls you in once more. A laugh that echos out as your hand slips into his. A laugh that lingers as you too pull away, connected only by your fingertips.
“But you could save yourself,” he says softly. A smile on his face as he squeezes your hand. “Why didn’t ya tell me you could do that?”
Now you’re laughing. A grin on your face as you lean close to him. Hand cupped around to his ear. Your voice soft as you whisper.
“I didn’t know I could do that,” when your eyes met once more, his expression was on of bewilderment. Eyes wide before a small grin appears on his face.
“How’d ya do that then?” He asks curiously. Head titling as you both stare at eachother with stupid grins.
“I dunno,” you admitted grinning up at him. Shrugging slightly as you smile. You poked his soft cheeks. “I just though bout what my lovely Haruka would do!”
His face burned a bright red. His eye widening as he looks away. Incoherent sounds left his mouth as the tips of his ears turn a bright red. Which only makes your face ache from how hard you were smiling.
“Shut up!” He exclaims as he covers his face. Your lips press against his cheek softly as his looks away. Before you started laughing.
“I was only answering your question!” You answers with a smile. Pulling Sakura’s hands of his face softly. To expose his bright red expression. An expression that melts into a soft smile as he stared at you.
At you laughing. At you joking. At you making his face flush. It felt so normal. It felt so right. It felt like it could of been taken away from him at any moment.
It terrified him that it almost did. That he would never see the light in your eyes as you press your soft lips against his. That he would never feel your hand in his as you walked. It terrified him that he wouldn’t be able to tell you how much you mean to him. That you almost slipped away from him.
But you didn’t. Sakura squeezed you hand tighter. So, it would only be an idiotic move to stay silent. He calmed his breaths down as he moves to stand besides you.
“I love you,”
“Huh?”
“I love you so much”
“I love you too Haruka!”

It wasn’t often that Suo lost his composure.
He was always smiling. Back always straight. Not a even his hair would ruin the perfect picture he has made for himself. He never lets his emotions take control of him.
Almost never.
It felt like the world was on fire. His heart was screaming in his ears as he watches. He shoves the door of the bookstore he was in open with a clenched fist. His legs brought him into a sprint as he approached.
It’s childish to let your emotions take control of you. It’s childish not to think of a plan. It’s childish to attack first. But, if it is childish to protect you? Well then call Suo a godamn 6-year old.
Your back was pressed against the wall. A hand with dirt all over pressed next to your head. Your eyes were wide as you scanned the area. Your hands and legs shook in a silent prayer. A prayer you only wished harder for as the man leaned in closer, covering your face.
It felt as if all the anger he’s ever had pent up came out in this moment. His throat tightening at the mere thought of someone laying a hand on you.
You. An angel sent from above. Someone who smiled at him. Someone who dealt with all his tricks. Someone whose eyes shined with more passion he could ever feel.
You’ve always had Suo wrapped around your finger. The idea that someone else would dare put out your flame made his blood boil. His feet kept running across the street. His arm already backed behind him ready to punch.
It’s said your brain naturally sets a limit to the amount of strength you have. For any more would lead in injury. But in that moment, Suo’s brain had lost all need for that limit. Because he is willing to break his arm and lose his second eye just to keep you safe.
Thankfully he wouldn’t need to do that anytime soon.
For as he arrive at the scene, your foot was smacked against the attackers face. Cracking sounds echoing throughout the space. The man staggers back. Covering his nose with a hand.
His eyes were wide. Body shaking as you step closer. His teeth clenched as he steps back. A red painting his cracked lips.
A red you saw up close as you lift him by his shirt. A vibrant bright red you stared at. A brilliant shining red that painted your own hands as they reinflict the wound.
Your eyes weren’t frantic with rage. They weren’t burning bright. They weren’t anything. They were hollow. Empty. Like the violence that you were committing had no effect on your wellbeing.
That’s what terrified Suo the most.
He saw himself as you land punch after punch. He saw himself as your hands drop the man’s body on the ground, staring as blood soaked the man’s very being. He saw himself as you walked closer.
He saw the violent battle against KEEL. He saw the flicker in his classmates eyes. He saw the hollow satisfaction from KEEL as you kicked him in the stomach. All he could see was that moment.
That moment where rage blinded him. When all he could think about was the blood of those who dared to harm his classmates. Where all his teaching and disciplines fell behind him. Where all he could do was feel. Feel helpless. Feel scared. Feel angry
He hated how that’s all he could think about. He hated how he needed a hand holding him back. He hated how he let himself be a monster. Beating up unconcious men for the sake of revenge.
He hates how he felt that but couldn’t place his finger on what you were feeling.
All he saw was the same outcome. The same loss of composure. The same breathlessness. The same anger. He couldn’t see you.
His angel. The person who wouldn’t dare harm even a fly. The person who couldn’t even dare tease him. The person who can’t think of making someone feel bad. He couldn’t see that person. All he saw was your anger.
Anger is a terrifying emotion. An emotion that needs to be controlled. So as the man’s eyes close shut. Metallic red liquid dripping down his forehead. Suo walked closer.
His footstep heavy as your hands clench his shirt. Arm high above your head. Eyes locked onto the man below. Eyes hollow as you move to hit him.
But, a hand stopped you.
A clean bare hand, wrapping around your red sleeve as you stared below. Heart shaking as you turned your head softly. Only to be faced with the sight of an eyepatched man. The sight that made your heart stop beating.
“Come on now darling, there’s no point in beating up an unconcious man,” Suo’s voice was cheery on the surface, but his tone was unwavering. His eyes were locked on yours. Not even a sembalence of thought appearing on his face.
Your breathing felt like it stopped. Your heart felt like it stopped. Your blood felt like it stopped. Nothing moved. For nothing matter more than his gaze. His maroon eye staring at you own eyes. A silent argument between you two.
Your hands clutched around the shirt of a monster. Someone who tried touching, feeling, loving without reciprocation. Someone whose mouth cracked into a smile as you kicked him, giving him the view he was begging for. Someone who not only tried caring for you, but also tried making your blood his personal red paint.
It’s disgusting. He’s disgusting. He deserve another punch. He deserve to be hurt. He deserves this violence and all the pain you could bring upon him…
“Oh silly me!” Your hands hastily release his shirt. A sweet smile breaking out on your face as you turn to face your lovely boyfriend. “Thought he was taking a nap,”
… But unfortunately, your boyfriend was right. All he deserve is to be knocked unconscious. Going overboard would only complicate things, so it’s better to simply stay still.
It’s normally better to just agree. To just smile sweetly at your lover as you pretend nothing happened. To just wrap your arms around his torso with the arms soaked in blood. It’s simply better to taint the back of his jacket with blood you’ll never clean off your hands.
It works most of the time. A smile and a hug fools most. But Suo Hayato is not most. For his hand wraps around my body patting my back softly. Patting it softly As he presses a soft kiss to my forehead. His smile wavering.
“Was this the first time this has happened?” Suo whispers as he pulls your body closer. You nod. He sighs as he combs his finger though your hair.
It feels suffocating to be touching someone who cares after doing something, something so henious. You can’t help the tremble. You can’t help the way you grip onto him tighter. You can’t help the way you feel so scared.
He touched you. You could feel his breath against your skin. You could see the cracks in his fingers. Cracks that spread across his disgusting body.
You needed to clean yourself. The dirt and grim he placed on you feel as though they’ll never come off. Your skin will never be as the same as it was. Tainted by a sinner.
All you felt in that moment was fear. Fear of whatever he planned to do with your helpless body. Fear of whatever he planned to do to you. Fear that no one would show up.
That’s what scared you the most.
Not that pain. Not the disgust. Not your faith. But simply, no one would be there to save you. No one would kick them away. No one would protect you.
It feels as though no one would protect you now as Suo hugs you tighter. You tremble in the same way as his hand strokes your hair. You breaths are sharp and shallow as you grip onto him. Quiet cries of fear fall out of you.
“He almost had me Suo,” is all you could spit it out. Arms limp besides you as your head stays against him. “He would of gotten me,”
Tears threatened to spill as you were held. Held firm and tightly. As if Suo was more scared of someone hurting you than you were. A soft kiss was pressed against your head as you held him tighter.
“I know,” he whispers out. Holding you a bit tighter. So tight that you could hear his racing heartbeat. “But you’re safe now,”
You’re safe. Those two words sit in your heart. Safety. The notion felt impossible only moments before, but it seems to be reality now. No one can hurt you as Suo holds you close. No one can hurt you as Suo plays with you hair. No one can hurt you.
You stay quiet. Body rocking softly against Suo’s. Heart beat slowing as you lean against his touch. Letting your eyes move from the attackers body to the world around you. Has the sky always been this blue?
It’s safe in Suo’s arms. He can protect you can’t he? He’ll be there for you. He’ll love you and make sure nothing will happen. You’re safe because of-
“It’s all because of you,” Suo whispers out. Pull away from the hug to cup your cheeks in his hands. A smile on his lips. Not a practice one, but a true one.
“You’re the one who fought the guy,” Suo explains softly, thumbs wiping the tears you didn’t realize were falling. His visible eye creases as he smiles.
“You looked so cool,” his voice quietens as the seen replays in his mind. A terrifying killer. Someone he’d never thought he’d see fight. The spirit of him living through the one he loves. This realization only makes Suo grin. “Maybe I’ll be asking you to protect me next time!”
A choked laugh escapes you. You felt your lips turn up as you let yourself laugh. Your cheeks aching from the strain of your smile. A type of joy that couldn’t never be replicated.
A type of joy that stems from being your own hero. A type of joy that makes you realize you could defend yourself all along. A type of joy that could only be achieved because of a certain man with an eyepatch.
A man with an eyepatch who was willing to tell you how safe you always were.

Nirei didn’t know why he was running.
His legs were moving. His feet hitting against the ground. His arms ache as he continues to move. He wants to stop. Wants to wait for Suo and Sakura, but he can’t. He can’t.
The old lady had rushed towards them, running with the same anguish that Nirei is. Describing horrific sights of a person. Someone around your age. Around your height. around your build. Someone who looked like you.
She described seeing a man push you against a wall, demanding something she was too scared to repeat. Her voice lowering as if the man could hear her. You looked petrified. Arms shaking. Tears rolling. Eyes wide.
Before Nirei knew it, he was running.
The buildings pass him by in a colourful blur. Calls of his name goes ignored as he pushes on. Even his notebook was forgotten. Because how is he meant to think about anything else when you’re in trouble.
The very thought of you, his girlfriend, being shoved against a wall. Being forced, demanded something, it makes his skin crawl. The idea of someone wanting to hurt you? The person who couldn’t even hurt a fly. It makes him sick.
Logically, Nirei should wait for Suo or Sakura. Someone who could do something. But Nirei couldn’t. He can’t allow himself to sit and wait when he knows you need help. Even if he can’t knock the guy out he can do something. Anything.
To keep you safe.
His breath catches in his throat as he takes in the scene before. Hands shaking as takes a step back. Eyes wide as he watches. Watches as his legs stay still. Watches as he wants to run in but can’t. Watches as he feels his hands being handcuffed.
What the hell. He didn’t know what to think of the sight. He didn’t know what to do. All he could do is stare and shake in fear.
Stare as you fought that man.
Your wallet and various belongings rolled across the floor as you threw your bag against his face. Screaming before turning to place your heel right in his cheek. The man rolls to the ground as you stand before him. A grin on your face as you stepped closer.
Your eyes looked different. Felt different. No longer were they staring fondly at the world around them. No. Instead they burned. Burned with hatred. Burn with need. Burned with anger.
A small laugh leaves your lips as you watch the man stagger while standing up. An action done in vain, for you soon punch him straight back to the ground. Making him twist and fall. Eyes shutting as his head hit the floor with a deafening thump. The grey floors now having a red accent.
You dropped down to the floor. Placing your hand infront of his mouth. Air hitting against it. You then clicked over his head. Not a single response. Which only makes you stand up and admire your work.
He wasn’t unconcious, merely unresponsive. He’ll be fine. But this will hopefully teach him a lesson about trying to harass others. Sighing, you stare down at your hand.
Soft flaky red tracing the patterns on your hand. Blood that may not nesscarily be yours. Will this wash off? Well you couldn’t care less. All that mattered was that he learned his lesson. No matter how violent it would be to teach him.
It felt thrilling to do that. Exhilarating. All your worries leaving you as you replayed that punch over and over again. His grunts and screaming playing in your mind as you stare at his limp body. It’s disgusting. But it made you smile.
A smile that dropped the second you looked over at Nirei.
He looked so small. The blood that stained your shoes made Nirei take a step back. The sadistic smile making Nirei cover his mouth. The punch you threw made Nirei wince. But you didn’t care.
Well rather you didn’t know, for all that mattered in that moment is beating this disgusting man up.
But now? All you felt is guilt.
A searing aching pain. Your heart screaming against your chest to do something, say something. But you couldn’t. For all he did was stare at you. Stare at you with big large eyes.
Eyes that looked you up and down. Eyes that seemed to shake as you met their gaze. Eyes wide and sweet. Innocent and unassuming. Yet petrified all at the same time.
It made you feel disgusting.
The blood that traced your hands made you want to vomit. They stay between the cracks of your skin. No matter how hard you’ll scrub a trace will always be left behind. A scar. A reminder of the monster.
The monster that didn’t merely gain satisfaction from besting a man up, but scared the one they loved most. The monster that made their boyfriend look so small. The monster that destroyed everything.
The monster that is you.
You sucked in a breath. It felt sharp. Painful. But you continued to breath. You had to. You looked at those eyes once more. Those shining wide eyes. Your mouth parted. But words wouldn’t form.
What if your relationship was unsalvageable? What if you scared him so much he didn’t want to talk to you? Worse, break up with you. You knew Nirei couldn’t fight. You’ve seen the way he shuts his eyes even in practice with his classmates. So what if? What if he hates you?
Your mouth closes. But instead of sitting in silence, you choose to try again. Your mouth opens. You try to force the words out. Tears threatening to spill as you stand there.
“Ni-“
“You were so cool!”
Cool? What? You were many things, a disgrace, a monster, a delinquent. But, cool? Cool is not a word used to describe you. No. No that can’t be right. You must have heard him wrong.
You look down at his face. Trying to find a clue of what he must have said. But, there’s nothing incriminating to be found.
There’s nothing but awe.
His wide sweet eyes looking up at you, sparkles reflecting of them. His hands were clutching his hands with the excitement of a kid who met their idol. His mouth was tilted into an upwards turn. His teeth blinding as his face creases from his joy. From his smile.
He wasn’t merely in awe of you. He was enamored of you. He was adoring you. He admired you.
Your capabilities to defend yourself. The joy you gained from the justice you had served. Your use of violence for good. Like a vigilante. One that reminded him of his hero’s from Bofurin. One that reminded him of his classmates. One that is simply, you.
The sweet cheery girl who lit his life in a glorious flame. The girl who had cared for him at his worst. The girl who had never treated him as weak or useless. That girl who so happens to be you. The love of his life.
He wasn’t thankful that you’re safe. No, thankful is much too mundane of a word. He was tempted to get on his knees to pray and give thanks to whatever deity out there for keeping you safe. For keeping his worst nightmare at bay.
The very idea of losing you makes Nirei want to cry. So, stumbling upon the scene of you beating a man unconcious, wasn’t heinous in his eyes. It’s was admirable. Respectable.
Instead of dropping to his knees, Nirei chooses to take one step closer to your shaking form. His warm soft hands wrapping around your bloodied ones. A soft smile playing on his lips as he stares down at your eyes. Watery, shocked, worried eyes.
“You were amazing out there!” Nirei begins. A grin spreading on his face as he starts to describe your movements. “Your movements were all so fluid! They fell into place perfectly! Where did you learn to do that? Your spin was aimed so well,”
His voice rises and fall in intonation as he describes the wonders of what you had done. He paints your violence as a dance. As an act of protection and safety. As something beautiful. As something real. As something to be admired.
All you could do, was stare. Stare as his eyes shined. Stare as his hands grip yours. Stare as a smile forms on his face. Stare at this man before you, a man who had no doubt about his feelings for you.
A man who saw beauty in acts you found hideous. A man who wanted to engrave your actions into his mind forever. A man who was nothing more than adoring as he holds your hand.
A man who is in love with you.
“You were s-“ You kissed him. Can anyone blame you? Your heart felt as though it was about to burst from all the words being thrown into it. All the love. All the affection. Love and affection you poured into a soft kiss onto your dear boyfriends lips. A kiss you could barely part from.
“I really love you,” is all you could whisper as a thanks as you squeeze his hand tighter. Nirei grins wildly at you as a small blush spreads on his face.
“I love you too,” he says back, pressing a kiss to your cheek. Squeezing your hand back.
Everything feels perfect. The two of you there together, grinning at eachother. You could imagine this forever. Imagine being with Nirei forever.
Because you were both stupid in love with eachother.

Your body was shoved against a wall. Head banging onto the rough bricks overhead. Left eye shut as hands grip your chin. Hands that are fillied with cuts, dirt and broken skin. Hands that pull your face up to face him. Hands slap your face when you say no to a date.
Your cheek is red. An imprint of the slap he gave. Your eyes were wide as your body shook with your breaths. Your mouth opens but nothing more that chocked sobs comes out. When your hand comes up to cover your cheek, he pulled it off.
You look like you couldn’t do anything. You look like you were helpless. You look like you needed help.
So why the hell couldn’t Kiryu move?
He watched the scene unfurl. Throat tightening as he slapped you. His mouth dry as he watch you staggered down. Fingers curling up into a ball as he hears your attack let out a disgusting laugh. But he couldn’t move his feet.
He wanted to. He needed to. But it felt as if there were chains attached to his legs. He couldn’t do anything. Anything but watch helplessly as your body is thrown around like some toy.
He has to save you. You’re his light. Someone he could let his guard down around. Someone he could cry to. Someone he had to protect. So, why couldn’t he?
Well, it was because he didn’t need to.
Your leg caught onto the side of your attackers body. Flipping you both. As his head slams onto the ground you lifted your foot back and kicked. Before standing back to wipe the blood off your hands.
The attacker couldn’t say anything, only a disgusting mix of spit and other fluids left his mouth. He tried to reach for your legs. Only for you to jump up and stand on his hands. Causing the latter to cry out in pain.
You didn’t looked panicked. Your sobs are nothing more than a mere memory as you position yourself back, awaiting for any more attacks. Your eyes were trained on the man infront of you. Fingers curling in on themselves.
You were anything but panicked. Kiryu’s eyes widen as he took in your face. Your lips were pressed into a line. Eyes zoning in on the danger rushing towards you, while your eyebrows scrunched only lightly. No. You can’t be panicked.
You looked as though you’ve done this a million times. As though you’ve trained for this. As though you were certain you would make it out alive. You weren’t scared, nor helpless. You were protected.
Kiryu would be lying if he didn’t find it admirable.
The way your movements were clean and sharp as you hit all the right places. Or well, the wrong places. For one attack in particular had your attacker tumbling to the floor. Crying out in pain.
Where was this attack you might be asking? It was in the one place you should never hit a man. The one place that would send them to hell and back. The one place that made them want to cry.
Their balls.
As the final blow was sent, the man came hitting the floor. Face pressed against the pavement by your feet. Body gone slack against the floor. The body of the man who held you against the wall, demanding things he shouldn’t be. Now at your feet. Like a peasant and a king,
Kiryu couldn’t help but notice your expression shifting. No longer was it calm and calculating. No. The corner of your mouth turned up slightly as you kicked his limp body. You weren’t calm anymore. You were proud of your victory.
A sight that made Kiryu had to take a step back.
You fought him. On your own. Why did that sound so wrong in his mind? Why did that feel so wrong?
Your soft hands, the ones that would slip into his own whenever you got excited, hand punched a man. Your voice, the ones that would gush over anything cute, was swearing at that guy. Your eyes, the ones that sparkled when Kiryu bought you something, were hollow as you beated that thing up. Something wasn’t working.
His heart panged with something as you finally looked up at smile at him. His mouth opened softly as your arms wrapped around him, your head nuzzling into his shoulder. His hands stay limp at his side as you start recounting the experience to him.
But, he couldn’t hear what you were saying. He can’t. How can he when he just felt his world shatter around him. His bloodied hands feeling like they were tainted in vain.
Hands that punched practice dummies day in day out. Hands that he restrained from using to attack his father, and those who force him to learn how to fight. Hands that have been wounded over and over. If he wanted, he would have defied his father again. He wouldn’t have practice. But he can’t be weak. He can’t. Not when he had you to protect.
You and your warm body. A warm body that he pulls flush against him. Eyes shutting as he places his lips against your hair. Your soft hair that he could spent hours looking at. Your sweet face pressing harder against his shoulder as he holds you tighter. Scared of a future that you’re not in. Scared of losing you. Scared for you getting hurt.
“Kiryu? Are you ok?” Your sweet voice rings through his head as he says something reassuring. He can’t focus on what he said. All he could think about was how sweet your voice sounds.
How that sweet voice could have been taken from him. How you could have been taken from him. How these moments could have been taken from him.
But, it wasn’t.
Your hands could still slip into his. You could still talk to him as you both walk away. You could still smile up at him as he looked down at you. You were safe.
You were here. You were alive. You were ok. It was all because of your abilities. Your ability to protect yourself, to defend yourself, to make sure you were fine at the end of the day.
His hand softly squeezed yours as you happily chatted away to him. Your smile growing brighter and brighter and you laugh. The sweetest sound he has ever heard. A laugh that made his face press into a sweet smile too.
You weren’t safe because of Kiryu. You weren’t safe because of all of his training. You weren’t safe because of his efforts.
Kiryu was ok with that.
As long as you kept smiling at him like that, he would be fine no matter what.
