It’s getting to be that time of year where more people are going outside to parks and stuff so i thought it would a good idea to reblog this again

Once I was feeding some ducks from a bag of birdseed I brought with me, and this woman next to me looked so confused and asked what I was feeding them

When I said it was birdseed she just went “oh- can they actually eat that? Is that safe?”

I didnt know how to respond like, at all, so I just pointed at the duck and said “bird”

She then had a look on her face like a new groove was just forcibly carved in her brain and said softly “oh my fucking god”

We talk about this a lot at the zoo! Bread is bad for birds, including ducks. I’ve sometimes told people that it’s a great way to get rid of that not-quite-fresh-enough-for-salads-but-still-kinda-edible veg you have in the fridge. The ducks aren’t picky.

I’ve heard frozen peas are a good option!!! And they can be tossed into the water with the same dramatic flair as pieces of bread, yet even more fun and colorful 😌

#and I think because you are developing like 19 different skills simultaneously#but the ones that you're better at feel smooth and easy and therefore not noticeable#but the places where the pen drags metaphorically feel more significant#so it's like oof ouch the struggle (doesn't notice the 100 hundred things that would be very hard without practice & experience & skill)

Every once in a while I'll get this insatiable urge to get out of my house and not in an "I need to touch grass" way but in a "leave in the middle of the night without telling anyone so I can start a new better life for myself that I build from the ground up" kind of way but I simply don't have the means to get away yet and I'm working on it but it's such an agonizing thing when I'm thinking about leaving right now but realistically I won't be able to for at least another year
