You know what?? This game is still extremely good,, even if it isn’t being worked on or hasn’t had much done on it. It takes a lot of willpower and effort to do stuff like this. I’m sorry the team fell apart, but I’m glad you’re able to work on other things too. I hope you’re having a good day!
Thank you so much!!! If I ever figure out what I'm doing next, I might link to the new devlog here. I hope you're having a wonderful day too, and thanks for making mine better!-mod max
Is this game still being worked on?
In my heart it is.It isn't in development right now because, well, the team fell apart for serious personal reasons. But I have hope that maybe one day I can make the game I wanted to. I still know what I want it to be, I just hope I can get the motivation and discipline to work on it again. Ive moved on to other projects in the meantime, shorter game ideas and role-playing campaigns with friends. Someday, when I have more experience, I can do for this game what it deserves. Charming characters, intriguing mysteries, dozens and dozens of cool, rare, creepy, cute fish to catch and tame and follow. Shrines to old gods. Undead drownies who run bakeries. Sailboats, motorboats, row boats. Submarines! Creatures of unfathomable size! Brine and salt and wind and lure. I'm waxing nostalgic. Maybe I'll finish it. I've got a long way to go. - mod max, the only remaining programmer
I'm curious, would you be able to tame any of the more dangerous monsters? Like, if you just kept throwing fish for it to eat as a distraction, it might follow you and maybe even defend you as long as you feed it. I'd just like to know
I think one of the most important parts of the experience is that all the fish work a little differently. It might be possible to tame every single one, but the mechanics of doing so would be unique and beg you to discover for yourself! The Lake is a mysterious and enticing world, and if you’re willing to lose yourself in it, you might find some very, very interesting things.

hey all! i just ran a stress test of lure’s new collision system and it’s stable enough to go ahead with. here we can see a readout of its fitness up to speeds of 1000 pixels per frame.
as the boat bounces around, it identifies the point of collision on a 2d grid.
purple/white lines show which solid obstacle the point of collision is associated with. green lines show the approximate slope of the surface of the obstacle at that point. dark blue/black lines show the normal line, a line at right angles away from the surface.
using this data, the boat can figure out how to bounce around when it hits things like islands, piers, fish, and other boats!
the fps does start to tank as the tests go on but that’s caused by the massive number of points in working memory (200,000 onscreen right now) for drawing all the lines onscreen, and isnt actually due to the physics engine whatsoever. if i were smarter with my drawing i could cut that out entirely.
