Bobby Kennedy/Reader Fanfic Preview
This is just fluff for now but who knows where I'll take this in the future. First chapter of this fanfic is here!
You stood there, contemplating for a moment. Your eyes drifted to the floor and stayed there despite Bobby’s presence directly in front of you, so close that you could smell his cologne and the faint hint of what must’ve been whiskey behind it.Â
You had grown plenty close to him as his assistant, your relationship something closer to friends these days. And you knew Bobby was so selfless when it came to those close to him that he wouldn't mind helping you in your career if you truly wanted to get into politics. But...
You finally responded softly, deep in thought. “I hate to take advantage of your influence…”Â
There was a brief pause as Bobby studied you, the way your eyebrows furrowed as though you hated to pass up his offer. He suddenly moved, gently taking your chin in one of his hands so he could lift your head.Â
“Do you think that’s what you’d be doing, taking advantage of me? Ever cross your mind that I see something in you?”
Despite the fact that Bobby was holding your face to encourage you to look at him, your eyes fixed themselves on the wall behind him instead. He spoke again, voice softening further as his thumb gently traced over your jaw. He smiled slightly to lighten your contemplative and faltering mood.Â
“C’mon, sweetheart. You’re real smart, I’m sure you can get this idea through your head.”
You finally sighed and looked at him, your hand pressing softly against his chest as you stepped back. “That’s very kind of you, sir. I just… oh, it’s quite late. Shouldn’t you get some rest?”
His hand reluctantly dropped as you stepped away, missing the warmth of your soft skin and the fleeting feeling of your hand against his chest. He busied himself with fixing the rolled-up cuffs of his sleeves, looking down and clearing his throat.Â
“Right, yes. You should head home, it’s terrible of me to keep you here so late at night…”
Your eyes wandered back to him as you walked towards the door, that soft smile returning to your face as you spoke with that teasing tone of yours. “Yes, very terrible of you. Making me walk myself home at this hour.”
Bobby chuckled, the energy in the room light again as he looked back at you. “I could walk you home, if you’d like.” Despite the returning amusement in his tone, his gaze clearly showed that he was being entirely earnest with his offer.Â
