//PROJECT HAIL MARY\\ I listened to the movie’s OST the whole time while drawing this and had an absolute blast. I think I might love the soundtrack even more than the movie, it’s so emotional and life-affirming, UGH. I couldn’t decide whether to give Rocky his suit so he could hug Grace, or if this is Grace dreaming about hugging Rocky without one… you decide! :D

Tumblr Code.
If I ever see any of you in public, the code is “I like your shoelaces”
that way we know we’re from tumblr without revealing anything
I’m just going to say this to strangers until i find a tumblr person
must keep reblogering!! Im going to be so suspicious if any one tells me this now!
Remember the answer is: I stole them from the president.
always reblog tumblr identification
they used to make smackable technology. you used to be able to hit your tv when it didn't work good.
when I was a kid I had an old tv in my room that would always turn to unwatchable static in the middle of shows but one night my sister and I were watching Naruto & every time Kakashi was on-screen the static cleared so we were like “hahaha the tv looooves Kakashi.”
I had a Kakashi bookmark so we held it up against the screen as a joke but the static actually cleared up. Mystified, we tried different bookmarks and objects with the same plastic material but nothing else worked, only the Kakashi bookmark.
We ended up taping it to the corner of the screen and it stayed there for 11 years until we moved out. When I was older people would be like “can you move the bookmark off the screen” bc it did sort of block a bit of the view but I would demonstrate the static issue and everyone was always just like “huh. what the hell?? well…alright.”
No explanation, but thanks Kakashi.
I had a similar tv! It was a tv with a built in dvd and vcr because it was in college and I’m apparently old now. But! The dvd player never wanted to play- unless it was Chicago (2002). First, we would put that dvd in, let it start, and then swap it for the movie we really wanted to watch. It got to the point where we would put in the dvd we wanted and sing “he had it coming!!!” At the screen at volume. Fucking worked *every time*
Bizarre.
I miss when technology had real personality, instead of fake ones designed to generate lies and nonsense and spy on you.
Just started saving craft and art and direct action and activism tutorials I want to be able to find again to The Wayback Machine* so that I know I'll always be able to find them again if they get moved or deleted
*The Internet Archive has a browser extension that lets you automatically archive a page with literally two clicks
And immediately. 10/10. 14/10. Would absolutely recommend
It also lets you see any archived versions of a page with just a few clicks, so it's great for getting around paywalls, as well as for keeping data and news stories from being deleted or moved
You can get the extension (or app for phones?) here:
Chrome Extension
Firefox Add-on
Safari Extension
MS Edge Add-on
iOS app
Android app
Got stuck trying to find an article explaining how awesome this extension is but I did find out this is actually even more important activism and archival work than I had realized:
The Wayback Machine Chrome browser extension helps make the web more reliable by detecting dead web pages and offering to replay archived versions of them. You can get it here. For the past 20 years, the Internet Archive has recorded and preserved web pages, and hundreds of billions of them are available via the Wayback Machine. This is good because we are learning the web is fragile and ephemeral. For example a 2013 Harvard study found that 49% of the URLs referenced in U.S. Supreme Court decisions are now dead. Those decisions affect everyone in the U.S., and the evidence the opinions are based on is disappearing.
-via The Internet Archive, January 13, 2017
And that was before the US government started deleting unbelievably important and massive resources, databases, and datasets!!
Next time you see a page and mentally go "ooh people need to see this," I recommend you hit a button and help a future you and millions of other people out!!!
(Extension here: Wayback Machine Availability API, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, iOS, Android)
And all that aside, the potential for recipes
Imagine: Never having to go back and find a recipe you wanted or loved was deleted ever again. Because you go to the link/website/page and it's already there, saved for you, with the touch of a button
reblog to give your headache to elon musk instead
michael with a koala from im told i had a good time
This clip from The Monkees will always fucking kill me
There's just... so much going on
• Mike's undies saying hello as he starts off the struggle cycle by getting his leg caught and then trying to transform into a bat until Davy helps him stand up properly (and for a brief second he's rocking a crop top)
• Peter just giving up halfway and letting gravity take over (also rocking a crop top) before he grabs the ladder again and does a split in the air before getting down
• Micky going down the ladder like it's a fireman's pole and landing on top of Peter while he's still struggling to get his head out of the ladder
• Davy carrying Micky bridal style to help him down while Peter still fumbles with his shirt

From my personal copy of Monkees Monthly No. 9
Dhani Harrison watching his father George Harrison on screen. (x)
i got chills and started crying oh my lord
Let’s make it a rule to reblog this every time it shows up on your dash- it’s just too beautiful not to reblog
This is too beautiful. I love how George looks down and smiles in the video, kind of a “hey, I’m watching and I’m always here.” I still can’t get over how wonderful this is.
fuck
I saw fast the first gif and thought that was George Harrison, omg
@cellophaneflxwers
I have to reblog this again
Im gonna cry too ;-; God this is so sweet
I cried as well, Dhani must have felt George smiling directly at him, it’s so beautiful and painful at the same time
