”An Evening with Ramin Karimloo December 22, 2015 Seoul, South Korea
Review Part 1: The autograph event
I know that it’s been a looong time since the concert actually took place, but I wanted to share my story with you guys and also for my record. So, after I bought the ticket, I saw a very small notice on the bottom that said that they will be allowing the first 100 people to show up on the concert to get Ramin’s autograph after the concert! As soon as I saw that, I knew that I was going to do anything to get his autograph. I mean.. I already got his autograph from the Les Miserables stage door, but I wanted to get a chance to talk to him one-to-one. On the day of the concert, I arrived 4 hours earlier to stand in line. And guess what? I was the first person to arrive XD I kinda overestimated the fans because I thought that the 100 people will fill up quickly. Well, it’s better to be safe than sorry :) An hour before the ticket box office opened, we could hear Ramin and his broadgrass members rehearsing Cathedrals :) It was so good to hear him sing live in years! So, I was among the first people to get the number ticket for the autograph event.
After the concert, the people with the number tickets started lining up to get his autograph. I intentionally waited till the last minute because I realized that the guards were almost pushing the people forward, not giving them enough time to talk to Ramin. So, I thought that if I was among the last few people, I will have more time to talk to Ramin. While he was meeting his first fans, I stood around the table to get the autographs of the Broadgrass members. Most of them commented on my English skills because Koreans were generally not that fluent in English XD After about an hour, I finally lined up and went to see Ramin. This was our (summarized) conversation.
Me: Hello (shake hand) Me: Could you do it on the cover? And here's a present for you. Ramin: Where'd u learn English? Me: States Ramin: Where? Me: I was born in Virginia, but I lived mostly in Chicago. Ramin: We have our Chicago boy there, Sergio. Me: Yeah I know. I talked to him like two and a half years ago. I dont know if he still remembers me. Ramin: He changed a lot. Merry Christmas Jennifer. Me: Merry Christmas! high.. five..? (high five) Ramin: Now that's a high five!!
After I met Ramin, I walked to the side where we were supposed to exit, and Sergio and Christopher (hope that’s right..?) was waiting there. I went straight to them and asked Sergio if he remembered me. He said my face was familiar, so I showed him the autograph he did last time. As soon as he saw that, he said that he remembered me because I was the only person he wrote “You rock!” So, this time, he wrote “You still rock!” God, my life is complete now :)
The picture on the bottom is a picture I found on the internet. It is when I was high fiving Ramin >< Thank God it was captured on someone else’s camera!
