“Probably. Or they’re just a psychopath.” Josie shook her head. Two people had died all because every single one of the people in their graduating class had a secret - just like everyone in the world. But there was someone out there who was exploiting that and it was ruining everything. “Well either way, I’m glad you’re okay. Most of us had it bad but a cheetah is one of the worst ones I’ve heard so far.”

“Yeah I guess so. Don’t like to imagine someone being that crazy though,” Lux replied with a sigh. “Thanks. I’m glad you’re alright as well. I wish there was a way to fix all this. Nobody deserves this. No matter what they’re secrets are.”

Her assurance was enough to calm Ivy down.  Lux had a way of doing that. It was probably because the other knew more about her then she did herself sometimes. Wrapping her fingers around her cousin’s hand, she gave it a squeeze, “I know, I know” she says now, nodding her head, as she placed her other hand under her head, “I wish I had gotten her quicker either way” She admits quietly. She breaths out quietly, “No, it’s okay. I’ll be okay.. I mean it could be worse” she kisses her cousin forehead, giving her a small smile, “I’m just glad you’re okay” it was the most important out of everything to her, right now.

“I promise all that matters is you being here now,” Lux whispered back as she held Ivy’s hand in her own. Smiling as Ivy tried to reassure her Lux crinkled her nose upon receiving the kiss. “You’re stuck with me forever. Don’t even worry about that,” she answered before turning to look straight in her cousin’s eyes. “Promise me something, okay? Promise you won’t pretend you’re alright. Just be honest with me about this so I can take care of you. We can take care of each other. Like always.”

        “High? I guess that didn’t help at all. Tobias and I were both sober and it didn’t help our case so who knows if that could’ve helped right?” She replied watching her fingertips, usually personal touch was something that made her run but this time, she was able to handle it. “You would think so but I believe everyone is back to their university mode and isn’t seeing the big pictures – we had a nasty habit of missing it when we were here last time.”

“I’d like to think it would have helped but hey maybe it would’ve just proved he doesn’t care either way,” Lux answered with a scowl. “Well if they are you’ve got me. I’ll stand by you through whatever happens. We girls have to stick together.”

         “Now that sounds like a personal problem – you should probably try hitting the gym so that when this happens again you will be ready. You were both useless and set up to fail by this person so don’t go blaming everything on Josiah.”

“Only if I can make money on those shows please and thanks,” Lux agreed with a playful smile. She had always enjoyed Isis, even when she had an attitude. Anyone who protected Ivy was good in her books. “Don’t even worry about it. I know you love me no matter what. Cause you have to or else really. And I’m just whining cause I can. The pain is better than being dead considering those Cheetahs probably could have made me dinner.”

“Good..” Jackson sighed pulling the brunette closer to his body. “I am never leaving your side ever again,” He smirked. “Cheetahs?” The blonde man’s eyebrow raised at her reveal. “I’m glad to hear you weren’t cheetah dinner…” He mumbled, grabbing her hand in his and squeezing gently. Jackson looked up at her, and licked his lips and laughed. “I’ll be gentle, promise,” He reassured. “I’m just happy that you are okay.. I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to you.”

“Does that mean we’re gonna be married now,” Lux teased in answer before nodding as he asked another question. “Yeah well I managed somehow. Possibly thanks to you teaching me a few things here and there,” she murmured with a pleased smile. She laced her fingers through his and sighed contentedly. “I’m pretty pleased to be okay as well. And you don’t have to worry about that. I’m planning to be around forever and ever. You may even get sick of me.”

“I.. I was just worried about you Lux.” He sighed, his expression of sheer horror relaxing into one of concern. Jackson tried to protest but he knew that Lux would fight back and eventually get her way- somehow she always did. The blonde man nodded his head, taking off his Dr. Marten shoes and pulling his body to lay flush on the hospital bed with Lux. “A cheetah Lux? A cheetah? Why did you call me?” He sighed looking into her eyes, their faces close to one another. He shook his head, and let out a small laugh, there was no protecting Lux- she always going to get herself into danger.

“I know but I’m here and I’m okay so no worries. You can glue yourself to my side if you really wanna but I promise I’m not going anywhere,” she assured him softly as he moved towards her and then laid by her side. “Well I got a little busy with the two cheetahs that wanted me for dinner and the high idiot that was doing nothing to help avoid our doom,” Lux stated in a matter of fact manner before leaning in to nuzzle against his face and then kiss his cheek. “See I touched you I’m alright. Just careful with the touching cause I hurt a little.”

“You saying that just makes me think you wish I was,” Lux retorted but scooted over anyway. “We’re like the bruised everywhere breakfast club. What the fuck happened to you,” she prompted as she leaned gently against his side not wanting to hurt either of them anymore.

           “Go ahead and try it – don’t blame me when you end up in the ICU for another week. My brother didn’t send those texts and he didn’t set all this hell up so before you go blame someone get your facts straight.”

“Before you go mouthing off you should get your facts straight. Your brother was so high that he let the damn cheetah do this to me. He was useless and would have been dead without me. I’ll remember that next time and just let him die.”

            “I did – was that you? I drowned – passed out and didn’t finish my task so I am sure my secret will get out soon – and if you ask me which one well I have no idea so I suppose it will be a surprise to both of us.”

“Yeah it was and my very high friend, Josiah made it much worse than it needed to be,” Lux tacked on bitterly before reaching over to brush her fingertips on Eliza’s arm. “I wouldn’t worry either way. Fuck anyone who judges you for whatever gets out. I think we’ve got bigger things to worry about. Like whoever this is not being at all concerned about killing us.”

“ Shit, I bet! Like fuck this guy’s fucking insane for all of the shit that he put everyone through.” Shaking her head, Josie’s eyebrows furrowed together as she thought about that night. So much had happened, two lives were lost and countless were ruined because of it. It had been a nightmare. “Well good for you, then. You made it out alive and can probably get a damn good coat or rug out of it.”

“Someone out there really hates us,” Lux replied in answer. She agreed completely that the person must be insane but also it felt personal. It didn’t seem random or without reason. Letting out a surprised laugh Lux smiled at Josie. “I don’t think they kept it’s body all for me but I guess I can settle for just being alive. Good for you as well since you seem just fine by the way. I heard whispers that everyone had it pretty bad.”

“I bet.” The young again wolf frowned slightly, “But you’re not bothering me at all. Really. Is there anything you need or want? I’m happy to get it for you. Besides, nurses take forever.”

“Well maybe another pillow would be nice. I mean your company is enough truly, since this place kinda sucks but my neck does hurt from the way I’m sitting.”

“Did I age down even more without noticing? Two, huh? I can speak pretty well for a two year old if I do say so myself. I just hurt everywhere including my confidence, okay. Give me a break for a few seconds.”

When Ivy had found her cousin, she hadn’t wasted any time crawling into her bed, and pulling the sheet up over his head.  The entire night she had spent most of it, sitting in the corner of her dorm room, playing the night over and over. She hadn’t left her room for the entire night – afraid that something else would happen.  Seeing Athena like she had found her the other night had fucked her up.  Her mind was nothing but thoughts about it.  And then when she had found out that Lux had gotten hurt, that hadn’t made things any better.  She peered at her cousin, “I am so glad you are okay” She says quietly, before laying her head back “I would of come sooner – but, god, Lux I can’t stop seeing her"

Seeing Ivy and feeling her body sprawled out beside her own was enough to make Lux breath a deep sigh of relief. Tension melted from her body as she curled protectively next to her cousin. “Hey. Don’t even worry about that,” Lux objected when Ivy mentioned coming sooner. Her being there now was really all Lux needed. They were safe. People had died but her best friend was here at her side right where she belonged. Carefully she laid her arm over her cousin’s middle and pulled her just a bit closer. “I’m sorry you went through that. I wish it would’ve been me. But you’ll get through it. I’ll make sure of that.”

“I’m sorry did you just say a cheetah?” Autumn couldn’t even imagine why a cheetah would be on school grounds, but stranger things had happened at Lincoln University. “Well I’m glad you made it out of that alive, sweetie. Is there anything I can get for you?”

“I did. My surprise was just the same when I saw them,” Lux replied in a matter of fact manner. “Oh you don’t have to get me anything. I can call a nurse or something. I don’t wanna bother you.”
