“Well, then perhaps next time you should consider asking first? I have no problem with sharing, but I also don’t appreciate my things being taken like that,” Daniel places a hand on his hip as she watches the other, “Do you mind returning it, then?”

          “  i could,  “  lance says,  knowing full well it was simply out of his nature to do so.  “  but where’s the fun in that  ?  i’m keeping people on their toes and guessing.  “  yet hands push the basket towards the other.  as annoying as he was,  he wasn’t one to draw out situations.  “  your basket,  good sir,  since you asked for it.  “

Considering the amount of time the other took to study the pictures, Asher figured he’d find a difference. He suppresses a sigh, tilting his head at Lance. He’s truly hoping this doesn’t prove to be a waste of time. “There’s a difference.” Though he can’t blame whoever doesn’t pick up on it. They have to have an eye for that. “I need to upload one picture. See the angle here, and then this one? And the lighting.”

          there’s another pause where lance really takes the time to scrutinize the picture.  it’s not for lack of trying,  even with asher pointing out the differences.  a scoff falls from his lips.  lance shakes his head.  “  why don’t you just make it easier for yourself  ?  flip a coin or something,  make a committed guess to whichever is the better photo.  i don’t think anyone can even tell the difference unless they’re as insane as you are.  “

         ‘   well   ,   guess   what   ,   you   chose   the   wrong   laundry   basket   to   borrow   .   i’m   gonna   need   you   to   give   it   back   ,   because   i   do   not   have   time   for   your   little   antics   right   now   .   ’   caustic   timbre   rolls   off   tongue   ,   as   pair   of   hues   closes   in   on   item   temporarily   in   other’s   possession   .   ‘   i   suppose   the   neighborly   thing   to   say   is   next   time   just   ask   ,   but   no   .   just   steal   someone   else’s   shit   and   not   mine   for   all   i   care   ,   got   it   ?   ’

          “  you don’t have time for most things,  princess,  “  he says,  mimicking her tone and weaving it with an egotistical touch.  out of spite,  he tightens his grip on the basket,  shoots her a smile that’s all irritation and ire.  “  you know what  ?  this is my basket now.  i just happened to find it,  nameless and ownerless.  “  a shrug is given,  head tilting to the side.  “  you can always buy yourself a new one,  right  ?  no harm done.  “

Jaxson furrowed his brows as he leaned up against the dryer his daughter’s clothes were on top of as he let his eyes rest on the man as he started to talk about how he only borrowed the laundry basket yet his arm was draped casually over it. “I’m not mad, man… I just want the thing back. That alright?” He gestured his hand towards the basket.

         “  i sure hope you’re not mad over me borrowing this for five minutes,  “  lance says,  but he still slides the basket over,  putting his weight against the dryer instead now that the basket was gone.  “  where’d you get that basket anyways  ?  it was literally falling apart when i dragged it upstairs.  “

❝  relax  .  i’m  not  mad  .  ❞  after  all  ,  she  didn’t  have  her  own  in  unit  laundry  so  there  was  bound  to  be  people  who’d  take  her  things.  ❝  as  long  as  my  clothes  are  fine  …  ❞  and  they  did  look  fine  …  ❝  no  harm  no  foul  .  but  next  time  ,  just  ask  !  i’m  not  gonna  say  no  -  i  just  don’t  want  to  buy  a  new  laundry  basket  thinking  mine  got  stolen  only  for  it  to  have  been  temporarily  borrowed  .  ❞

          “  oh,  really  ?  could’ve sworn you were.  “  that was a lie.  lance hadn’t been paying much attention to anything outside of his immediate circle,  but still doles out a smile.  “  asking is easier if the person who i needed to ask was actually there,  but i was in a hurry.  “  he pushes the basket back towards her.  “  you can have it back.  besides,  i wouldn’t steal this.  it’d clash with the other stuff in my apartment  —  how much was this  ?  “

        “You should ask before you do that.” Beca said with a shake of her head because she’d forgotten how annoying it could be to share a space with an entire building. A concept that she had missed out on given that she’d never went to college. Green hues widened in surprise when her name brought back a thousand of memories. “I live here, what about you?” Somehow, the first thought that he was hooking up with someone in the building. “Give me a hug!”

          “  nah,  most people wouldn’t miss it.  i only took it for a couple minutes,  anyways.  “  and it’s this insistence that has him grinning  —  he’s well aware of his reputation,  and part of him is surprised she hadn’t heard of him being around.  arms space out,  take her in for a hug before he pulls away.  “  small world,  huh  ?  i live here too,  moved in recently.  “  he steps back,  features fond with memories.  “  what are the chances we’d see each other again,  right  ?  “

The young woman looked at him pointedly. “I didn’t know about you taking it - hence, it’s stealing.” Darby made it obvious she was annoyed, a hand delicately placed on her hip as a scold met her eyes. “Yes, but it is a harm and foul because I was unable to move my clothes and now my schedule of doing nothing is set back.” The brunette’s tone serious, though there was a hint of amusement in the back of her throat. “Next time - ask.” She rolled her eyes at him with a huff, finally able to now unload her clothes.

          “  semantics,  “  he says with a dismissive wave of his hand,  shoulder lifting in a shrug as he dutifully hands over the basket to keep his head firmly on his neck.  “  you said it yourself though,  “  lance begins after a moment like he wasn’t just scolded for stealing,  folding his arms over an unused washing machine and leaning close,  “  that you had a schedule of nothing.  so even if i asked,  or if i didn’t ask,  you still would’ve had the time to do whatever with your laundry.  was i really such a bad guy for borrowing it  ?  i was only gone,  like,  ten minutes.  “

“ SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING A THIEF WOULD SAY. but you’re in luck, because that’s not my laundry basket. i don’t use the laundry rooms here. ”   not that she owns her own laundry basket, or even does her laundry herself. the machine in her penthouse is only used by her roommate.   “ kinda offended you mixed me up with another blonde. ”

          “  a thief  ?  “  lance laughs,  a hand settling over his heart as lips purse into a pout.  “  i would never.  “  but now he’s casting a second glance over at the basket,  an eyebrow raised before he lets it go and steps away from the scene of the crime.  he could’ve sworn it belonged to her,  which was why he was comfortable taking it.  “  my bad,  sweetheart,  my bad.  you want me to do your laundry as an apology  ?  i can’t promise your lights will stay light though.  “

“ Usually you ask before borrowing someone’s laundry basket.” Isaak sighs not wanting to waste much of their time.” Can you just give it back? I would like my clothes as well.” They laugh at that.” ‘You brought it back?’ I saw you with it that’s completely different.” 

         “  i mean  ...  that’s a lot of effort.  besides,  it was just a quick trip,  so was there any real harm done  ?  “  he still pushes the basket over though,  features amused as he leans against his respective washer.  “  it’s really not,  if you think about it.  i only borrowed the basket and left your clothes alone,  and now you’ve got it back in your arms.  point out to me where it’s completely different.  “

          “  OH  MY  GOD  ,  YOU’RE  OUT  HERE  stealing  laundry  baskets  now  ?  ”  she’ll  playfully  tsk  at  her  friend  .  “  besides  ,  what  was  wrong  with  the  laundry  unit  in  your  apartment  ?  did  you  break  it  already  ?  ”

          “  yeah,  well,  i don’t exactly come equipped with them on hand.  i over-estimated my laundry,  and needed to borrow an empty laundry basket,  “  he retorts,  rolling his eyes with a grin.  “  how’d you know  ?  are you creeping in on my apartment’s washer  ?  you weirdo.  “

          “You did what?” she asked, turning around to face the person who spoke while she turned her clothes over to make sure nothing was missing or added that didn’t belong to her. “That’s kind of disturbing, you know. You can’t just borrow….” Her voice went silent when she recognized him. “Lance?”

         “  borrowed your basket,  “  he says,  before the use of his name forces him to pause.  he’s not on friendly terms with most people in the building,  and the lack of hostility in the lilting sound of it has him screeching to a halt.  he narrows his eyes,  takes in the person before him before a huff of a laugh comes out.  “  no fucking way.  what are you doing here,  beca  ?  “

          “  hey,  i didn’t steal your laundry basket.  i borrowed it,  because i left mine upstairs.  your clothes are still there,  aren’t they  ?  no harm,  no foul.  “  said laundry basket is being held hostage on a washing machine,  his arm draped casually over it.  “  and i brought it back safely,  didn’t i  ?  “          @amoreluxstart​

“Hey, not to bother you, but I could use an extra pair of eyes,” he begins, holding up his camera. “I can’t decide which picture’s better. This, or…” He clicks to show them the other picture. “That one.” The difference may be considered minor to some but Asher’s always been meticulous when it came to his work.

his eyes are quick to look at the photos,  squinting at the two different ones.  there’s a long pause where lance glances from the camera to asher, and back again, before he says,  “  these are the exact same photos.  “  hand gestures to the camera again,  head tilts.  “  i’m not saying they’re bad photos,  because they’re not,  but there’s virtually no difference—can’t you save your energy and just use both  ?  “

‘ no because listen. ’, fiona started , talking with her hands. they two of them stood in front of the jukebox that was snug and hidden in the corner of bathtub gin & co. ‘ you have to decide what the mood is first. ’, she explained to the other. music was one of the many topics the girl was intensely passionate about and she made sure everyone know. ‘ so , first things first. what do you want the people to feel ? ’, she leaned against the side of the jukebox, with a drink in her hand as she analyzed the person in front of her.

         lance doesn’t know how he got here  (  he does,  because fiona is nothing but a whirlwind storm and as much as he pretends to hate her,  she is one of the very few people he can actively stand to be around  )  but there’s a jukebox and a fire in her eyes and really,  how can he say no  ?  “  what do i want people to feel  ?  “  he repeats,  glancing around the store before shrugging.  “  do i have to care about what other people want to feel  ?  what if i want to just put on some shitty,  repeating tune for the fun of it  ?  because i wanted to  ?  “  he pats the top of the jukebox.  “  i didn’t realize music was such a big,  touchy - feely event.  “

        “ is this your cat ? ” it’s a scraggly little thing, yet the creature is letting her hold it the way a cat should not be held ( julianna was always more of a dog person, really ), and the grey cat wiggles it’s bottom half. oddly enough, it’s not hissing, not even looking panicked; it’s just kinda … there ? she doesn’t know, but it seems very relaxed ( and julianna isn’t a relaxed person, so again : weird ) . “ and even if it’s not … what the fuck is it doing ? is this normal ? ” 

          “  does it look like my cat  ?  “  comes the quicker counter,  but he still lowers himself to look at said cat,  eyes narrowing as he takes it in  (  it’s cute,  that much he’ll admit,  but lance has always been too busy to take care of anything except himself  ).  he stands straight,  throws her a glance that holds laughter.  “  have you never held a cat before  ?  it’s just chilling out.  maybe it likes you,  which i can’t understand why,  but they do say cats are mysterious things.  where’d you find it  ?  “
