Jo smirked “Yeah I mean a getaway is nice, even suburban is nice. A tiny farming and mining village in north England isn’t nice it’s just boring.” She insisted thinking back to home and how her childhood had been with a wince. “But a little getaway is nice now and then. It’s hard to leave things behind but you could try to do like, a summer home or something. Just somewhere to spend time now and then?” She suggested. “God no. I mean I admire those who are but getting my mouth to stop is a feat fit for Hercules and I’m not sure who would win him or my mouth.” She joked smiling. “You seem lovely!” She insisted. “So you’re not totally mad but that isn’t so bad. World needs balance here and there.” She assured warmly. Jo was loving this. It was nice, the girl was lovely and sweet and it was a flowing conversation where she didn’t feel like she was about to get punched. This was a nice change of pace. “Ugh yeah the beach!” She agreed brightly laughing. “Books are great and I love hopping the waves. People watching is fun too yeah.” She agreed. “If you ever want to go to the beach call me up! I love it there.” She said without even thinking that she hardly knew this girl in the coffee line. “Nah, not really. I’m actually horribly honest.” She explained. “So when I’m nice it had to be really true.” She explained. “You write kids books?! That’s lovely! Aww that’s cool you must be so clever!” Jo exuded excitedly. “You’re entertaining for me. I work IT and invent in my spare time. Well mostly inventing at least. I’m good at computers and physics. It’s just sort of a natural thing.” she explained. “I’d love to read one of your books! What’s one called?”
Diana’s imagination was taking the reigns of the conversation, trying to picture the places Jo was talking about, “What’s the name of the town? If you don’t mind me asking? It sounds dreamy...” She nodded, excited at the idea, “Of course. I’ve thought about it. Just packing a bag and getting an Airbnb at a secluded, picturesque location and just writing. I-I’m a writer, I don’t know if I mentioned that before, I don’t mean to brag, I just tend to be very flighty.” She stammered, her cheeks blushing. Diana chuckled again, “Hercules or... That’s a hilarious image. Though, I’m sure you could just charm him and win.” She shrugged bashfully. “I mean, you seem nice too and I have been told that I tend to reflect the energy that people reflect onto me, so... It’s all you, Jo.” She added with a smile. Conversations with strangers never went this good, she had trouble getting her coffee order out and this was just flowing so well... “I do love the beach. No matter the season. My moms think I’m crazy for just going out there all the time, but it’s a very liberating experience.” The bold comment made her blush even more, her eyes widening at the unexpectedness of it, but loving it nonetheless. “O-Oh, um... Okay... Actually,” She went for it and took out her phone, “I’d love to. If... If you really meant it. You could just... Like, give me your number?” She really hoped Jo hadn’t just been joking. Oh, God. What if she had been? Guess she’d just have to wait. Maybe Jo was as honest as she said she was. Diana waved off the compliment, “Not more clever than most, I imagine... I was just lucky to find a niche market and a highly successful and encouraging family.” Diana’s jaw dropped a little, “You invent? As in... Your inventions are related to IT? That’s... That's fascinating. My aunt’s a scientist and she invests highly technological creations all the time. So I’ve always had a lot of respect for the craft.” Diana looked down at her feet and tried to remember, “Um, my most successful one is called Loving Benji. And it’s about adoption and homoparental relationships and all... Just trying to implant my agenda into the newer generations.” She finished with a chuckle.
