losing the last of his strength , he collapses in a nearby chair & groans . “ nasty fight with a bandit . they’re long gone , but they made sure i didn’t leave unscathed . ” he explains , trying to focus on building his aura back up to speed up the healing process . “ i’ll be okay . ” he promises .

teal hues lower to gaze upon their joined hands . he smiles & gently delivers a squeeze , feeling her thumb brush against the back of his hand . he brings up their hands & kisses her knuckles .

“ there is no place i’d rather be , either . ” he agrees , giving her a loving smile .

the smile never leaves her lips, even as clover kisses her knuckles. he didn’t have to stay there with her but he did anyway and it means more to her than she can express, even if her wounds aren’t that severe.

‘ sounds like you’re stuck with me then, ‘  there’s warmth in her azure gaze, her tone playful for just a moment before speaking once more.  ‘ i’ll be alright, though. i promise. ‘

he chuckles softly , “ guess i should consider myself lucky , then . ” he teases in return , “ but i’m glad you’re okay , win , otherwise i’d go beat up the person who hurt you . ” his tone is still teasing , but the sentiment remains .

he leans over & presses his forehead against hers , wincing a bit as his position stretches out his stomach , the fresh scar tightening & pinching . he delivers a swift kiss before pulling back , free hand reaching down to rub at the tingling scar .

she’s looking down to the cuts on her arm and shoulder before gazing upwards and meeting his stare, giving clover a soft smile. he’s just as protective of her as she is of him, her other hand reaching for his and lacing their fingers together. they’re alone for the moment so she’s able to share it with him.
