some Liams!
some half-baked roughs for the gryphon story
reminder of Liam sized up against Nex and the Red Dragon. Nex is far larger than the Red Dragon (Not Grigori, Grigori, however you want to label it.) Nex has a giant snoot, almost crone-like. Rough Liam model to show how big he is compared to them. He's smaller and lankier in body than the Red Dragon, but longer in all aspects! Older sketches before I got a hold of the models where rather than grabbing a hold of him as it does in-game, it instead forces Liam to guide himself into its mouth, and Liam starts tearing at it's snout, it crunches him and tosses him aside similarly to how the pawn is tossed aside in-game.

Using 3D models as reference or tracing over them is actually a really fun way to learn and nail tough perspectives. I create my own models too so I learn a little 3D as well. They don't have to be super detailed either. Here is a sketch of my flightless gryphon and a generic dragon head.
if you do a little more to light your scene, then it can help you with visualizing lighting as well. This isn't 'cheating', it's utilizing tools and recourses to benefit your art process. This goes for photos and video reference as well. Learning 3D IS a learning curve but even simple forms can help. You can download FREE to use assets or support creators who make them(I bought the Cuda) to help build a scene. You can also use photographs as planes and set up scenes, and the Grease Pencil in Blender allows you to draw in 3D space.

Arisen Kraus and Pawn Liam face off against Nex
(post cycle break) Pawn Liam returns to Kraus after years away, meeting his Arisen at the very point he was ushered out into the world with only his own will to guide him.
