Yay inktober s day 2 and 3
Inktober already? How time flies
Itâs a really good time to be an Avatar fan right now, with a LOT of content coming our way soon. So much that itâs hard to keep track ofâŚ
So hereâs a classic korranews masterpost with everything you need to know.
â°ď¸đĽđŞď¸đ The Road Ahead: an Avatar mega update
â September 2018
First up, in case you missed it, the following recent-ish stuff is already out!
All three parts of The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars graphic novel trilogy
The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena, a super cool table top game with detailed figurines of a bunch of the characters
Secrets of Elvendale, a fantasy series on Netflix animated by Studio Mir
Pins!!! Check their online store because thereâs about a million new ones (I need to make a whole masterpost just for thatâŚ)
The trailer for The Dragon Prince, a new animated fantasy series from the head writer of ATLA
The 2018 Korra FCBD comic
ATLA in true 1080p HD on Blu-ray and digital download!!!!!
And coming soonâŚ
Imbalance
A new ATLA graphic novel trilogy, with a brand new writer and artist! The story covers a burgeoning bender-nonbender conflict in an industrial town, a very intriguing potential first link to the founding of Republic City and bridging the seventy-year gap to TLOK.
Part 1 comes out this year, on December 12th. Part 2 follows on April 16th 2019, with Part 3 expected in approximately August next year as well.
See all the detailed info we have so far, and keep up-to-date, with our #imbalance tag.
Team Avatar Tales
An anthology of comics following Team Avatar on various never-before-seen adventures! We donât know a lot yet but this should be a very nice collection of stories.
This anthology hits shelves on January 2nd, 2019.
#team avatar tales
Turf Wars library edition
If the ATLA trilogiesâ library editions are anything to go on, this volume collecting all three parts of Turf Wars should be a stunning hardcover with plenty of cool behind the scenes info, art, and extras.
You can get it on March 26th, 2019.

An Avatarâs Chronicle
This scrapbook-type release dealing with Korra looking back on her journey so far is going to be filled with gorgeous, full illustrations and posters, in-universe letters, inserts, mementos, keepsakes, photos, and more. It should also have some new stories and moments with the characters. Sounds cool!!
It comes out on May 21st, 2019.

The Rise of Kyoshi
This one technically isnât ATLA or TLOK⌠weâre venturing into new territory?!?!
A big surprise we very happily got hit with recently, The Rise of Kyoshi is an upcoming epic YA novel series about the origins of Avatar Kyoshi from a humble corner of the Earth Kingdom, starting her journey to legendary greatness.
Itâs going to be two books, with the first hitting shelves on July 16th, 2019. When Book 2 comes is anybodyâs guess, but a year later in summer 2020 is a potential ballpark.

The next Korra trilogy
This is the one we know least about, but whatâs exciting is that we know it exists at all! Korraâs story isnât over yet: we have confirmation that a new graphic novel trilogy is happening. The rumor mill says we might finally be seeing the Fire Nation, but only time will tellâŚ
We can hopefully expect some concrete information about this at NYCC in October. As for a release date, expect at least a few months between the end of Imbalance and the start of this, so late 2019 at the earliest, but probably 2020.

Oh, and one last thingâŚ
FUNKO POPS ARE COMING
Thatâs all.
â â°ď¸đĽđŞď¸đ
So there you have it, the full slate! Novels, graphic novels, comics, merch, books of all kinds⌠yep, itâs a good time to be an Avatar fan. (Next week in particular might have a lil something in store for you⌠đ)
Who knows what else is just around the corner?! Whatever it is, itâs clear that this franchise is still going strong and wonât be stopping any time soon. Good news for us!!
Bachelorette and the Beast
Why didnât Lumiere throw a contest? He couldâve sent homing pigeons with flyers attached to the village saying âsingle young maidens come to enchanted castle to win the heart of a prince and live the rest of your life in luxuryâ or something like that (mentioning that the castle has a library of course) and suddenly Belle finds herself competing with the whole village. The beast would be too afraid to show himself to 30 women at once so they would write letters and speak through thick hedges in the garden. Anyone who peeks and runs away screaming is disqualified. Who wants to write this AU?
âBut inside⌠is a prince. Trapped inside the Beast. So I drew the eyes. And the eyes are the window to the soul. And as I drew these eyes, I looked at him and thought, âThatâs him.â I turned to my assistant, I said, âThatâs him, there he is. I recognize him. Thereâs something magic in creating something.â
Glen Keane on designing the Beast.Â
In an auditorium of kids as young as 9, you could hear a pin drop when he got to this part. Enjoy! Full transcription below. - CooperÂ

Industrial Workers of the World
Easier said than done
You got eleven dollars? Itâs as easy as eleven dollars.
https://iww.org/
If you ainât got eleven dollars, talk to your local and they should be able to work something out.Â
You can join the IWW even if youâre unemployed, and even if your labor is exploited in prison. When they say one big union for everyone, they really mean it
Subminimum dues for the Wobs are six bucks
Seriously, join the fucking IWW. Message your local on Facebook if you donât know who to turn to. Theyâd love to have you and theyâll meet with you in person to talk about it and sign you up if you want. It can and will only lead to good things for you.
For real guys, I canât recommend this enough. Join your local union.
I worked at a union job years ago. Best job I ever had. Fair payâtheyâd negotiated us danger pay from minimum wage; full benefits (Canadian so we had health care anyways but they covered most of our prescriptions, and glasses, and dental work); got paid holidays starting at two weeks when you started (I think the first year was just the two weeks off, but after that it was paid, and increased regularly with seniority); regular pay bumps to keep up with inflation; sick days; PLUS when management were dicks theyâd sort them out.
Like this one time, I had a machine that was cleaning some extremely dirty grain (our wheat was full of peas, which we didnât handle, so our machines just dumped it as oversized garbage along with pieces of stalks etc), and had this really heavy sack (because it was a regular burlap sack but now it was full of fucking peas) that the peas were going into that usually would be emptied maybe twice a shift or so, and we had so many peas coming out that it was needing to be emptied like every ten minutes. And by the time you lugged this like eighty-pound bag of peas to the other side of the floor to dump, and then cleaned up the mess the machine dumped on the floor while you were doing that, it was damned near time to dump the peas again.
So itâs getting time for my lunch break (mandatory half hour, plus two coffee breaks, also mandatory), and there is no way in hell I can leave it; the peas will pile up high enough that there will be a fire risk from them rubbing against the machine.
So I call my supervisor and tell him my lunch is almost due, and he should either get someone to spell me off or else shut the machine down so I can have my break (which I desperately needed at that point, as you can imagine).
Well, they had a shitload of wheat to clean all the peas out of, and didnât want to shut the machine down. So first he told me to let the machine just overflow and clean it up after; and when I told him that would likely start a fire with how many peas were coming out, he told me to âjust take my break between emptying the sack.â Which, like, does not actually count as taking a fucking break from it.
So I called down to my union rep and told him what was up, he talked to the supervisor, and then him and the supervisor came and had a look at how many peas were coming out (so many that we were joking that the peas were contaminated with wheat), and then grabbed a couple of guys off sweeping to empty the bag while I ate.
And then put a second body on the floor to help handle all those peas because omfg.
Unions are the best. Remember that in the mid-Eighties, almost half of all jobs were unionized. It was Reagan catering to corporations that got all the workersâ rights that people quite literally had fought and died for almost a hundred years previously rolled right back.
Bring back the unions!!
What if your job is under the table? Can you still join a union?
Yes! The IWW is an explicitly anticapitalist union and recognizes *all* labor as worthy of respect and representation. They collect minimal data on individual members and prefer to collect dues in cash and in person for exactly those reasons. All you really need is a local officer to jaw at, a name (doesnât have to be real), and eleven dollars.
I forget the number, but thereâs even a sex workersâ industrial.
