He shrugged. “Jess and I are complicated when it comes to this whole superhero thing.” but he mirrored her smile. “Matt’s got the ears, Danny’s got the...glowing fist. Guess it works.”

The corner of his mouth twitched. “Meet the Defenders. We have Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and the almighty Iron Fist.”

“Don’t put the name choice on me. I would’ve gone with nothing.” he paused. “He’s a privileged white boy given access to some ancient magic he keeps going on about. I’m not really worried about gates he doesn’t have access to.”

I watched Hope choke on her blood because some devil in a purple suit was bored and ruined a teenage girl’s life. There’s no way in hell I can take Danny serious after watching what Kilgrave did to the city.”

He shook his head. “Can’t agree with that, Jess. I believe it’s a strength. I didn’t want in on this any more than you did, but there comes a time when you accept that you are who you are and that person is someone who defends others. We’ll lose sometimes, but that doesn’t mean we don’t get up and fight again.”
