OKAY I finally wrote down tropes I noticed in SOLSAH/SAHSOL (altho chapter 395 messed it up a bit whateverrr).
If something is wrong feel free to let me know (I like analyzing relationships, but I’m also not hardcore shipper). Also if you know other tropes that fit solsah/Sahsol let me know!
Spoilers till chapter 395 of gsgw!
„Enemies to acquaintances”
That’s the name of the trope but I wouldn’t call them enemies. Soleum knew he needs to be cautious when dealing with Saheon, while Saheon was just scared of him. There were moments when they were forced to work together, but you could notice already in Manor of the Blind that Soleum didnt mean real harm to Saheon (he actually tried to save him). Ofc Saheon didn’t really trust him, but they did work together well. In part 2 we see Saheon demanding items for help from Jisan agent (Soleum). However in part 3 Saheon starts willingly working with Soleum (even tho he uses excuses of „wanting items or money”) bc he is worried over Soleums safety.
„Trauma bonding”
We see it in part 1 during Jisan arc. Soleum admits his true feelings (which he never does, altho he wasn’t in right mind back then) of wanting to die sometimes. Saheon also admits it and, probably first time in his life, didnt get taken advantage of. Situation was extreme but it show they can be true to their feelings in e/o presence. Venting feelings like that is healthy, which makes me thinks Soleum and Saheon would be a remedy for each other. Yes it would take a lot of time to work, probably wouldn’t be easy, but I believe they would be able to make each other safe space.
„Lonely together”
Saheon is lonely person. He left his village, lost his sister and works in company where coworkers die constantly (not like he tries to make friends). „But Soleum has a lot of friends” well yeah but he is unbearably lonely. He isn’t from gsgw world, he always feels like outsider (doesn’t help he isn’t exactly human). He has easier times making friends with monsters than humans. When Braun is missing he mentions missing his voice and remarks. Now we can notice that Saheon (part 3) is similar, he constantly check on Soleum making sure he doesn’t do anything stupid (that would put him in danger). I think they would help with e/o loneliness.
„Loves my alter ego”
Loves is too much to say, but Saheon is charmed by Soleums agent persona. He is so enchanted by his savior he won’t let himself believe it’s Soleum (even tho he got his evidences and probably knew long time ago). You can even say love makes you blind huh.
„Pen pals”
Self explanatory. But I want to add one more thing (bc I didn’t really find good trope for it). For whole life Saheon couldn’t own anything bc of cult rules. So when he finally got free, he develops a need to own many items. So I believe him giving something to agent from Jisan is really important step in his character development. You can say „oh he wants to stay in contact” but it still means Jisan Agent changed something in him.
„You make me a better person”
In DER Saheon turned into Viper, but thanks to Soleum it didn’t happen that drastically in gsgw world. Saheon still loves to use his position as superior and orders people around. But whenever he is in Soleum presence he wants to be seen in better light. He gets stressed thinking soleum is angry that he didn’t try to save Soleums friends. He gets jealous when Soleum trust other people more than him. All of these makes him wants to be better person in Soleums eyes. Unfortunately so after chapter 395 I’m not sure if Saheon doesn’t actually want to corrupt Soleum to be like him (we will see later 🙁)
„Hope is scary”
It really is especially for person that lost whole hope. Yes, Saheon is desperate to live but he is aware how shitty his life is. In part 2 he doesn’t even know why he is still working for Daydream. His only light is Jisan agent (that’s why he is angry whenever agent is responding after long time). But for someone that already lost their love one (sister) hope like that is terrifying. He feels again, he enjoy his life again, but what if that person is gone AGAIN? Saheon doing everything to keep Soleum save, but only him. Which may be hard considering how self sacrificing Soleum is. But now when he grew closer to him, how will he let him go?
„Because you were nice to me”
Everyone in Saheon life gave up on him. The only person he loved was his sister, but she is gone. Now he must play the game of appearing weak to superiors or strong to weaklings. He can’t catch break, bc his survival instinct doesn’t let him. Even in Jisan arc the so great Bureau gave up on him (when their whole ideology supposed to be saving people) EXPECT our Soleum. In Saheons eye Jisan agent appears as angel, someone that is just altruistic by nature. So ofc he wants to keep person like that close to himself, worrying about Soleum constantly. It may seems not important for Soleum bc he just saves everyone, but it is important for Saheon bc HE was finally saved. Bc soleum met good people in his life, he doesn’t really see Saheon perspective and doesn’t understand him. Now we also can notice in part 3 Saheon wants to save Soleum from danger, which may suggest he wants Soleum to feel the same he feels towards him.
„What is this feeling?”
Saheon doesn’t understand what he wants from Soleum. He knows he is important for him, but he can’t name that feeling nor he knows what he is doing. Because we see it from Soleums eyes it looks funny and like tsundere acts. But well whole point of tsunderes is not knowing how to act in presence of person they care about.
„Poor communication kills”
Noticeable in part 3. They can’t talk with each other. Soleum doesn’t trust him even tho he is happy seeing him, meanwhile Saheon just doesn’t know what he wants. When he try to play with Soleums honor, Soleum just doesn’t care. He try to assert dominance (bc well that’s how his coping mechanism works) but can’t do it on person that doesn’t care. Saheon tries to do everything to save Soleum (and takes pleasure in playing savior) meanwhile Soleum doesn’t trust his actions. Hope they will work it out…
„Cradle of loneliness”
This one more fanon one, but I believe paperboat was important for Saheon. So during these 3 years I can imagine he spent his lonely nights staring at it and thinking about Jisan agent. His agent is gone, so he is alone again. During their first meeting in part 3 he ask Soleum about paper boat, which means it’s important item for him.
„Fate drives us together”
Small thing, but Saheon is often in places where Soleum is. And most of the time it just doesn’t make sense for Saheon to be there (unless we count comedy as reason).
For other trope we have roomates, but it’s pretty self explanatory.
Thanks for reading and sorry for any mistakes 😭🫶
