Oh, no.
Sometimes, his mouth gets ahead of him. Sometimes, he forgets that not everyone understands what being a shifter is like. Dohwan certainly wouldn't - he's not a shifter, not even close. He's not going to understand the complexities of what the changing seasons do to his other half.
"No!" Cinnamon is quick to roll over, all but dropping himself onto Dohwan in his haste to face him. "No, no, I don't mean that!" Cinnamon shakes his head, clearing his throat. "I mean, I do get really tired in the winter. Real bears hibernate, so my bear has those instincts and it does make me really tired, but I'm not going anywhere! I swear! I did not mean it like that!"
He feels silly as soon as the words are out, as soon as Cinnamon reacts and he realizes that he's being so dramatic. Dohwan's grateful to have CInnamon on top of him—always is, but it's especially reassuring now. Even if he's too embarrassed to make eye contact, squeezing Cinnamon's waist to stabilize himself.
"Good," he whispers, carefully kissing Cinnamon's jaw. He can hear his heart beat just a little faster and he feels terrible for making him so upset. "I'm sorry for being so dramatic. I..... I know you wouldn't drop that on me, I just...." He's just so scared of losing him. He holds Cinnamon even closer. "It's okay if you're tired. As long as you're still here."
"i think," venti sighs as they rest their head on braxton's shoulder. wipes their nose and notices there's blood on their fur coat. when did that get there? their driver hits a speed bump too hard and venti is going to laugh out loud if they throw up on braxton's shoes. they cannot do that.
"you're the only friend i've ever had." yes, they're quite high and feeling raw like an open wound. and yes, they also through their phone out of the car when they got a particularly unsavory text from a man they've been seeing. he was a painter (it's always a painter) and a coward. they intertwine their hand with braxton's. it always gets like this.
"how cliche." and venti hated being cliche, but they loved braxton more than they loved their own ego.

he thinks that they're right. and he hates it. the one friend they've ever had and he wants the same thing as everything else. at least braxton has the decency to take no for an answer. at least braxton is determined to be their friend forever, no matter how it hurts.
"i know," he says quietly, and squeezes venti's hand. he hates seeing them like this. hates that there's really nothing he can do other than spend the night and listen to them rant and swear to himself that next time, he'll notice the signs before venti gets in too deep. and maybe... braxton manages a crooked little smile, glancing down at venti on his shoulder. "do you want me to hex him? he deserves it."
"last i checked, it's public property."
sol is starting to piece things together and she can't help the smile that curls the edges of her lips up, mischief glinting in her eyes as she rolls onto her side, propping herself with an elbow. so, this is the owner of one of the scents she'd picked up when she'd first got here, stale as it was.
"i'm pretty sure i did," she says in a much too casual tone, giving the other a faux concerned look. "or is 'laying on the shore' not an acceptable answer to you? i was planning on swimming too."
a pause as she tries not to smirk, lest she ruin the innocent ruse she's got going on.
"you could come swimming too."
makenzie is feeling supremely taunted. and that's definitely what the other wants. which makes her feel even worse for falling for it. the other issue is that she's right. this far from the house is public property, or state property—kenz doesn't really know, nor does she care to. technically, anyone can be here.
but locals don't bother traipsing around the forest, and nobody who visits the area sets up a little camp in the middle of fucking nowhere. makenzie wants to grab the (very naked, very beautiful) stranger and shake her until all the answers fall out.
"it's not a fucking good answer." his eyes narrow further at all her very obvious attempts to act like this is normal. he's not going to fall for it, not going to fall for the very appealing prospect of paddling around the lake in his fur. "in there?" he asks, gesturing to the pond that's probably not great for humans to swim in. "looks kinda gross," makenzie lies. "or is that, like, the whole point? running around the woods naked and swimming in gross lakes?"
If theres one thing Callisto Jones does, it's keep a promise.
She waits until she market is maybe a little quieter to go, especially since she has to walk all the way across town to get there, but it's not too difficult to spot Liam's family.
Rhiannon's familiar sweetheart never fails to redden her cheeks - even before she and Liam we're in this tentative space, whenever they happened to run into each other with her mom.
"Hey, Ms. Geller." Comes the uncharacteristically demure response. "Ah - thankyou. Wow, a whole box?"
She's not surprised that Callisto waited until the crowds began to clear to make her appearance. And Rhiannon is grateful for it, too; gives her more time to talk to her rather than just hand over the box and get back to other customers.
Rhiannon is motherly by nature, no matter who she's speaking to, affection in every word. She wonders, sometimes, if it's too much for Callisto. But she's never asked her to stop, so she'll keep up the pet names.
"Stop that. You know you can call me Rhiannon." She waves away the formality, smile brightening even more as Callisto wonders at her gift. "A whole box. And a note. Liam wishes he could have given it to you in person, but—" There's no use finishing that sentence. They both know why that couldn't happen. No matter how much he's trying.
"And don't even think about paying. Anything else, sure, but those brownies are a gift."
The food is too far away for his liking. Moonsoo reaches for it immediately, careful not to dislodge Makenzie from his back. A flush reaches his cheeks. He's not used to the more intimate parts of his drawings being acknowledged like this, but he knew the risk of making it while on a date.
"No, it is," Moonsoo answers. He clears his throat and nibbles on his cake slice, glancing at Makenzie over his shoulder. There's a sweetness to his face, the awe of being so known, that makes Moonsoo melt. "That's your sweet little-" He pauses, glancing around. "Uh, hand." Is it okay to acknowledge Makenzie's other side in public? He's not sure, but he doesn't want to take the risk.
Mak doesn't stop Moonsoo from reaching for the pastries, but frankly the food is the furthest thing from his mind right now. All he can think about are their twin blushes, the care and dedication Moonsoo's put into just the sketch. He feels like his heart is going to burst.
She kisses his cheek and then drops into her seat, scooting as close as possible so she can stare at Moonsoo's sketchbook. She always tries to be respectful and not snoop, but god, she thinks she's allowed when he's drawing her. "It's okay," Makenzie giggles, staring at her boyfriend with sickeningly obvious heart eyes. "Worst case scenario people just think I'm a furry." Which isn't a terrible conclusion, honestly, she wouldn't be offended. And she's fairly certain that saying so out loud will fluster Moonsoo. "Do you..... have a picture of me that I don't remember, or are you going off memory?"

sol's sense of smell isn't very strong when she's wearing her human skin, but something about makenzie still makes her nose twitch as he gets closer, which has the hair on the back of her neck standing up. she's not going to let this stranger intimidate her though, so she lets out a laugh and lies back again on her towel, even going so far as to put her arms behind her head to show how unbothered she is.
"you've never laid out on the shore before?" she teases, dodging the question purposefully. she lets her eyes flutter closed and crosses her legs at the ankles to really sell her nonchalance, doing her best not to smirk, because she knows she shouldn't antagonize the other too much. even if she really wants to.
"you can call me sol," she offers after a moment, "do i get to know your name or is this a one-way interrogation?"
“literally all the fucking time because this is my lake in my forest!”
well, technically, this is no one’s lake. it’s not their property, but it is their territory. but none of them have made it out here in a while, which is probably why this person thinks she’s allowed to be here. unless she’s actually human.
makenzie lets out a frustrated, undeniably puppy-like huff and shakes her head. she needs to chill out if she wants to get any answers out of her. “i’m makenzie.” nicknames, she’s suddenly decided, are only for friends. “there. i answered your questions. now you answer mine. not much of an interrogation if you don’t actually answer me, is it?”

Rhiannon loves farmers market season. It’s exhausting, of course—her usual shifts as well as harvesting and preparing produce, and now cooking and packaging food, too. But it’s worth it. It’s all so much easier, too, with Liam helping her. He’s a good boy. It breaks her heart to see him so upset to be left behind.
It’s the least she can do, really, to make sure his gift makes it to his new friend.
Even with Rhiannon, Dami, and Makenzie manning the stall together, it’s been busy. Things are just starting to slow down when she sees Callisto approach, and Rhiannon immediately perks up. “Hi, sweetheart!” she says, doing her best to reach for the carefully wrapped box of pasties without looking away from the woman. “I’ve got something right here for you. From Liam,” she announces, handing it over with a big smile.

it's an overcast day, which means there's nobody around to bother solaine as she lounges nude around the lake near her campsite on a threadbare towel she's had for ages.
truth be told, it was unlikely for anyone to bother her regardless of the weather, since the lake is pretty deep into the forest with no real trails to lead people to it, but she likes the added security. or what she thought was added security, her ears perking as the ground coverage crunches under someone's footfalls, which has her slowly pushing herself up so she's leaning back with her weight on her hands, giving her the chance to turn to look.
turns out the stranger was closer than she thought, because sol finds herself making eye contact with them. she quirks a brow after a second.
"here to swim?"
yeah, she's just going to brush over the nudity for now.
she probably shouldn't be doing this on her own.
when she first scented something unfamiliar, mak should have gone straight home and told her moms and brought them with her. maybe should have called wooyung and asked him to drive up and help. they could have the whole pack out here right now.
but there was someone in her territory and makenzie was so angry and offended that she was storming after the scent before she even realized where she was going.
the worst part is that he can't figure out what the fuck is out there. not quite human, not quite wolf, not quite animal. it's driving him fucking insane. he doesn't know what to expect, but it's definitely not someone naked on the banks of his lake.

"here to ask what the hell you're doing here, actually." he crouches near the blonde, staring her down a little more intensely than he means to. her nudity is, quite frankly, the least of his concerns right now—and something he's used to, honestly, as a werewolf. "and what—i mean who you are."

Billie's free hand drops from his shoulder to rest at his waist - for a brief moment, at least, before it slips up under his shirt to smooth over the skin of his lower back.
"I'm sorry again, baby." Billie murmurs. There was no changing what happened, but she was sorry for the hurt it caused him, even if she thought she was doing it for some noble reason. "Kissing, talking, looking at you. As long as forever is involved, I want it."
Another sappy, obvious claim of her own, but there's no putting a label on how happy she is.
"Do you think anyone will notice if they don't hear from us?" She teases, thinking about how wrapped up in each other they're going to be now that all this is out in the open.
She's been a vampire for a little longer than he has. It might be a little easier for her to conceive of forever. But as she runs her fingers over Cheolsu's skin, it's so easy to imagine having this—having Billie—forever.
"It's all right," he soothes, kissing the bow of her lips, the tip of her nose, the apple of her cheek. "We figured it out, didn't we? We know what we want. I know you didn't mean to hurt me. Now, all we have to do is..... enjoy this."
And god, they are enjoying this—hands on skin, shameless kisses, the way she looks at them with so much adoration. If Cheolsu could blush, they would. "Dohwan will notice eventually if I don't come home," they say shyly, but there's a little smile on their face as they do. "He'll, uh.... he'll be happy for us."
beneath the hood, jiwon's eyebrows pinch together. wooyung isn't the one sleepwalking and imposing on a good friend's family, so why is he apologising for it? biting his lower lip, jiwon inhales slowly through his nose, holds it for a few seconds, and exhales just as carefully. it's only after wooyung massages his legs that jiwon realises just how much they hurt. the idea of walking back out to the car almost makes jiwon want to fall back asleep.
he can't quite look wooyung in the eye yet, too embarrassed to be seen in such a state, but the idea of having someone to watch him through the night is appealing. people are better than locks, more reliable than bookshelf barriers. part of jiwon doesn't want to be any more of a nuisance to this family, even before he's meant to officially meet them. but another part knows there's no one he'd trust more to keep him safe for the night.
"i want you to stay," jiwon finally decides, voice quiet but certain. one of his hands shyly emerges from the hoodie sleeve and reaches for the one wooyung has kept on his leg. he only makes it as far as wooyung's thumb, but jiwon holds onto it like a lifeline. "but i don't want to go home tonight. i.. i just want to be with you."
he’s not going to rush this, not going to force jiwon to move or look at him or make a decision sooner than he’s ready to. wooyung can’t even imagine how exhausting just this night has been for him—and if this is a frequent occurrence? if this is something jiwon has to consider ever time he tries to get some rest?
it’s a miracle he’s still functional. wooyung is certain he wouldn’t be.
so he waits, with soft eyes and heavy heart, still cradling jiwon’s cheek in his hand. it’s embarrassing, truly, how his pulse stumbles when jiwon grabs onto his hand. “you wanna stay at my place?” he’s been to wooyung’s apartment before, so at least it won’t be foreign, but maybe a change of scenery will be good for him. “i’d like that. a lot. i have work in the morning, but you can sleep in as much as you can and stay as long as you want. is that okay?”

It's not normal - or it wouldn't be, if it was anyone but Callisto Jones having this conversation.
It makes it easy, though - the way Liam asks her about these things doesn't make her feel obligated to answer, or answer in some way that most would consider palatable.
"She used to." Callisto admits. "She has, um. Memory problems. So things that are familiar like that are a bit easier."
The pressure against her thigh is reassuring, and Callisto takes a moment to look at Liam while it's attention is occupied by looking at the plants. "I never got the hang of a risotto." She says after a moment, letting her own gaze turn to the tomato plants. "But baking sounds fun. I'll have to come by the farmers market and ask for something you've made specifically. Maybe bring it back here, so we can enjoy it together."

Callisto is already used to dealing with someone with memory problems. Maybe that means she won’t mind the way that Liam is—or maybe she’s already had her fill of people with brains that don’t work.
He rubs at his face, not noticing the way he smears dark soil on his cheek. “I do too. Have memory problems. Did they tell you that? That everything from before is all…. bits and pieces. And my nerves are all fucked too.” They’re back here again, talking about how Liam is a dead, strange, broken thing. He tries to shake himself out of it.
“I, um. I can make something you’d like.” The farmer’s market had favorites, things that it and Rhiannon always made, but she gives it chances to experiment too. “And Rhiannon can make sure she saves some for you.” Liam hates that it can’t be the one giving it to her, that it might never see other people try the food it makes. But this is something, isn’t it? Liam dares a glance at her, but she’s just looking at the plants. “Isn’t it…. hard for you to get up here, though?”
