A selection of photos of my lampworked pieces as well as some demonstrations from John Rabbit, Brighton
A selection of pieces created using lampwork, at Glastonbury Festival (my first Lampworking experience) and at The White Rabbit Gallery, Brighton, with John Rabbit
This album contains a selection of the work created during my internship at Salt Glass Studio. Many of the techniques used for glassblowing can be transferred to Lampworking and I feel that my internship has given me valuable experience towards being a lampworker
A selection of images of work created during my internship at Salt Glass Studios, North Norfolk. If I get a kiln for doing lampwork I hope to also use if for glass fusing and run courses of fused glass with wire inclusion.
This is a selection of work created using lampwork, by myself and John in his Brighton studio
Whilst in Brighton, I was lucky enough to try lampwork. I created this blue pendant which has a sea form like shape inside. I am very pleased with the result and look forward to learning more. To see more of my work, please like my Facebook page - Lydia Swann Artist
These photos show the bicycle mural which I painted for a Norwich cafe. I am happy to undertake commissions, of any scale and subject, please get in touch!

These images show some screen shots of the pages of my book. This was created as a way of documentating all of the work which I have created for this project. The pages will be in a cencertina book as a timeline of the development of my work. In order to make the book a representation of my style of work, I have used alternative formats including adverts, transcripts and newspaper articles. The aim of the book was to make it accessible to a wide audience, who will be viewing the degree show. In the front of the book will be a DVD of all of the films mentioned in the book.
These photos show the final display of my inflatable hairdryer for the degree show. I am pleased with the finished piece and feel that it is much more appropriate on the floor than the wall, after much debate, because typically you do not see hairdryers on the wall (or hairdryers this big) but the floor space gives it more of a sculptural quality than an artwork/ picture quality. It is also more interactive on the floor.
This is a video captured on spy glasses of me using my oversized Debit Card in the bank. The reaction from the cashiers was successful, with them trying to deposit £10 on the card as I had requested, but being rather confused and intrigued. The sound quality isnt great, here is a transcript of the general conversation:
Me: Can I put £10 on this card please?
Banker: On that card?
Me: On this one
Banker:
- Is this a wind up? * laughs *
- Why have you got this?
- Is someone guna come out of the woodwork in a minute?
- Why on earth have you got something this big?
Me: It’s my bank card
Banker:
-      In 22 years I’ve never seen a card as big as that
-      So you want to deposit £10?
Me: Yes
Banker:
-      Oh er well you can’t it’s not a valid number.
- Â Â Â Why did you think it was a valid number?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Oh well never mind
This short video shows me inflating my hairdryer with a hairdryer. I felt that it was necessary to create a short video to demonstrate the pun of the hairdryer. If it was powerful enough I would have used a hairdryer to inflate my inflatable hairdryer in the degree show. This would have also generated the appropriate noise.
These images show me adding the finishing touches to my inflatable hairdryer, in the studio. Almost ready to be put up for the degree show!
