dsmp au where c!dream gets so weak after all the starvation, isolation, and torture, he slowly rots half of his canon life away.
c!techno noticed how c!dream would sometimes be all hostile towards him when in turn it was just hunger, how there's some sickly mold around his uncleaned scars, hair thinning and graying.
he promises to bring him out, and he did. c!dream relished the upcoming dawn and the fresh air, finally feeling a gentle warmth of the rising sun after so long, so he shrugs of c!techno's cape to soak it in more.. but then, it started to burn. the burn hurts more than him diving in lava—c!dream felt in scorch into his soul.
they didn't understand what was happening, until it hit c!techno.
c!dream is now a canonical zombie

Wilbur had 13 years of hell. All that time to reflect and spiral deeper into his own mind in agony and spite and regret, but the deeper he fell, the more he knew his hell never started when he died.
Hell wasn't 13 years of an empty train tube, bleeding red lights and shadows of hollow ghosts. Hell was whatever man has created out of fear. Hell was created because men wanted a god, wanted undying, unconditional love—they wanted heaven.
But if he could be break a god, why be a servant of heaven? So he slithered into Eden, and watched as angels fell and humans be banished.
Wilbur saw how the god tried to grasp them back but only ripped their wings, saw how they turned against him, how they shattered his image into the demon instead, saw how this pathetic shattered bastard yearns for his big happy family back—behind the mocking laughter heaving in his broken ribs and broken grinning mask and broken bloody netherite armor.
Wilbur saw Dream and knew everyone believes there is hell because there's no god. There's no god when he is twisted bones and ragged screams trapped in an obsidian labyrinth. They destroyed god.
Wilbur had died but he was still a step ahead of him all this time.
Because Wilbur saw Dream, again, revived and he saw his L'manberg. His nation. His walls. His life. His unfinished symphony forever unfinished. His sunrise.
His hero.
His.

Dream furious bc doesn’t techno understand why he needs this? why he needs to work move fight plan bc the only time he doesn’t feel like he’s breaking apart is when he’s tearing someone else limb from limb? The only thing that makes Dream feel human anymore is letting himself be a monster?
Dream crying, screaming, frustrated, bc why? why why why, Techno? He can’t be anything better, he never will, so why won’t Techno at least let him be happy in his own screwed up way?

Techno holds him back by the arms, and Dream is screaming, crying, spitting angry like a feral cat, but he’s also too skinny in Techno’s hands. Even when his nails are cutting into the hybrid’s arms, drawing blood, Techno can’t help but think the man looks small.
Finally finally Dream stills in his hold, going limp.
“Why are you doing this to me?” Dream asks, voice hoarse, and he sounds defeated. Hollow. Worse than he did back in the prison, when there was at least the smallest amount of hope still burning in those dull green eyes. “Why Techno? Just let me go. Please.”
