#CHILDREN OF DIVORCE
happy pride month everyone!!
foreman. babe. we’re at the bottom end of season 8. you have worked here for almost a decade. why are you still surprised there's medical malpractice going on at the medical malpractice department that you, personally, used to do medical malpractice at
some of my fave tags on this post
god this show is truly bonkers isn’t it.
im so glad I got to experience house m.d renaissance and people watching it for the first time because of that one neckalce tweet by house without context on twitter. this show is indeed bonkers and more
#iconic
the few times house wears a lab coat it just looks so wrong 😭
House ↔ Bertie - parallels
truly nothing about house md prepares you for wilson. he's fucking insane. he's been divorced three times. he's the only person who can scheme just as well as house. he gives a patient his own liver bc he felt bad for him - a patient who didn't even know wilson's name. btw. he noticed a patient had depression bc he never mentioned his grandkids. he starred in a porno. he dosed house with antidepressants for several weeks. he allowed his boybestie and his gf to share custody of him and didn't even try to stop it. house told him to buy a piece of furniture that represented who he was, and he bought a $4000+ organ for house. he was gonna torpedo his career to talk abt euthanasia bc one of his patients suffered longer than he had to. he let house move into his 1 bed apartment bc his therapist thought it'd be a good idea. this man would do anything for anybody if they let him. he'd fucking quit his job to save a snail off the sidewalk. bro is not normal in the slightest
Wilson is "worse" than House in the sense of mental illness and I STAND by that. he is far more unstable.
House in 2024 would have house come in calling a patient "it" and foreman, chase and Cameron would be like "woah what the hell house you can't call a person an it" only for house to tell them to look at the patients pronouns on the chart for the pronouns to be it/it's and house is like "unlike you all I actually respect people's pronouns"
House: Well, unlike some people in this room, I read the patient's chart, and-
House: *stops speaking mid-word because he has seen a specific detail on the chart he skimmed over earlier when he saw the pronouns and decided to fuck with his team*
House: we need to give it poison iMMEDIATELY
some of the plot resolutions in house were so fucking funny. like one episode a guy had seen 10000 different doctors to try and figure out why he was sick and when he came to house, house’s first question was “ok i think i recognize this, there’s this tropical disease that’s preeeeeetty common, have you ever been to the tropics?” and the guy said no and house was like “hm ok guess it’s not that, it must be something mysterious and obscure because this is the Mysterious And Obscure Ailment Show, i will keep digging” then 35 minutes later in the episode house is like “this really REALLY feels like it’s that relatively common disease i mentioned earlier, are you SURE you’ve never been to the tropics” and the patient is like omg NO why do doctors always harp on that I TOLD YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE TROPICS I HAVE NEVER BEEN SOUTH OF FLORIDA and house just stares at him before being like “FLORIDA IS IN THE FUCKING TROPICS” and the patient is like. oh.
this all happens while the patient is holding house and like some other people hostage and forcing house to treat him at gunpoint btw.
Can’t stop thinking about House pre-infarction.
Like Stacy says he was the same before as he is after but that is so obviously not completely true.
Sure House has always had a disregard for social niceties, always been a genius, always bucked against authorities, but think about the little things we learn about him pre-infarction, and how he behaves while the ketamine treatment is effective.
He played lacrosse in High School. He was a cheerleader in college. He met Wilson at a medical conference. He met Stacy at a Doctors vs Lawyers paintball game. The infarction happened during a game of golf. After the temporarily successful ketamine treatment House goes for miles long runs, skateboards, wears nice suits.
Pre-infarction House was athletic. He cared about his appearance. He was social. He went out and did things and had relationships. Yeah he’s always been a bit of an ass, but he was an ass with a life.
It’s only post-infarction that all of that stops. His relationship ends, he only goes to conferences when forced, he can’t be athletic, he doesn’t want to be social. He can’t be bothered to do more than throw a sport coat on over jeans and a t-shirt.
His addiction aside, all of the above things showcase what a hard time he has coping with having a disability. He doesn’t find new ways to be social, find activities he can do. Instead he isolates himself. He tries to make himself unappealing. He goes to work, and he goes home alone.
The only relationship he manages to maintain is with Wilson, and he even acknowledges that House has changed when he confronts him about his Vicodin addiction. (Yes I know he has brief relationships over the course of the series but none of them can really be compared to his 5 year long, live in relationship with Stacey prior to the infarction, regardless of how one feels about her as a person.)
It just breaks my heart to know that House’s disability took so much from him, and that the resulting depression stops him from trying to seek any type of happiness, and when he does find some he’s convinced it will end.
TLDR: I have a lot of feelings about Gregory House and how his disability changed his life.
house in season 8 truly uses every single opportunity to float the idea of him and wilson having sex. he’s just constantly in “haha jk…unless?” mode
of course the classic
and of course the most infamous…hahaha….unless?
oh for god’s sake….

i truly do not understand why there aren’t more people shipping chase/foreman from house md, because the more attention i pay to the two of them the more i find myself shipping it. here’s why:
i LOVE their progress from not giving a shit about each other in season 1 to slowly becoming friendly and then acquaintances and then close friends by the end of season 8
foreman in season 3 told chase “i don’t like you. never have, never will” and then he goes on to
go to chase for relationship advice CONSTANTLY
go to chase to vent about his job with house
hang out with chase outside of work even when they’re no longer in the same department
cover up murder for him, while risking his own career (MORE ON THIS IN A BIT)
support him through his trauma and PTSD and the end of his marriage
take his advice and feedback on how to be a better boss while still being a good doctor
support and encourage his decisions to seek out something better for himself
hire him back as department head to fill in some pretty big shoes that he himself has failed to fill previously
chase up to season 3 kept saying “i don’t care about foreman” and then he goes on to
support foreman and give him advice on coping after foreman accidentally killed a patient
let foreman vent to him about being stuck with house
hang out with him outside of work
discuss his relationship with him
go to him for advice on issues in said relationship
spend time with him and be there for him (along with cameron) after amber’s death
constantly tell foreman that he isn’t obligated to cover chase’s ass after the dibala incident
share his problems and trauma with foreman
give foreman good advice on how to handle an admin position while ensuring he doesn’t distance himself from his friends now that he’s their boss
looking out for foreman when taub insisted on getting him a girlfriend
coming back to work for him when he offered him a job as department head
OKAY THE DIBALA THING, SO LISTEN. LISTEN.
early on foreman has been well established as a very ambitious character who puts himself first. this point has been reinforced by
foreman writing an article on the same case cameron was writing hers on, knowing she was writing it, knowing his would be published first
foreman delighting in having power over house whenever he has to supervise him even though it’s the most irritating job in the world
foreman asking to be made head of department the moment he finds out house is quitting in season 6, barely after the door’s closed on house’s ass
foreman firing his own girlfriend just because working together makes them fight, instead of giving up his promotion
foreman letting her dump him instead of accepting that giving up his promotion would have been the best thing for their relationship
this is a man who’s worked really hard to come as far as he has, and is painfully aware of it. in my opinion he has every right to his ambition and to putting himself first, but yes, it is objective fact that sometimes he does so without caring about the collateral damage
and yet, when he finds out that chase faked dibala’s test results, leading to his death, at a time when the department was being headed by foreman (and therefore his ass on the line), his first instinct was not to turn chase in and save himself
it was to cover up for chase
and he continued covering up for chase even when he had to give a presentation on the case and lie his ass off to cover the discrepancies. he could have turned chase in at any point. he’s well within his rights to, considering that by not doing so, he’s an accomplice, and just as liable, just as likely to lose his license and be jailed
this guy, whose number one focus in life is his career, who has been described by pretty much everyone as unfeeling and cold, continues to lie for chase and support him emotionally when he absolutely does not need to
he is painfully aware of everything he’s risking – his medical license, the career he has so painstakingly built, his reputation, his entire life and freedom – and yet that does not stop him from being there for chase
i find their dynamic so, so interesting. their development is such a pleasure to watch, honestly, and no matter how many times i rewatch season 6, it never fails to astound me the lengths to which foreman went for chase when he was under no obligation to, when it would’ve been far easier and so much more logical to turn him in. man, no one does that for someone else unless they really truly care about them on a deep level. not just covering up murder, but also risking everything they’ve got.
also! when he hires chase back at the end of season 8 to replace house – that is the biggest thing, honestly, because the implication is i think you’re the best person to fill house’s shoes. something foreman himself failed to do earlier on, quite a few times. he respects chase’s medical knowledge and skills so much that he’s literally asking him to take the place of someone who mentored them both, someone they all thought irreplaceable.
not to mention, at the end of season 8 they’re literally house/cuddy parallels! literally no one can convince me that they don’t go on to have the slowest of burns, about 30592 years of denial and pining and then eventual acceptance, and then a relationship filled with mutual respect, snark, and medical clownery. no one.
