Iris Musicia's Grand Horn Tutorial

The #1 question I was asked at Katuscon was “how did you make your horns?”  Because there’s no short answer to this (and I want to be thorough) I thought I’d make a tutorial.  Here is how to make large, realistic-looking horns that would be excellent for the Grand Highblood, but I decided to use on Gamzee because why the heck not, and there’s no reason you couldn’t use these for Kurloz as well.

I made mine and Cyrus’s horns this way, so it’s able to work for a difficult set of horns like Tav’s.

This method can be adapted for Condesce or Handmaid horns as well.  Basically, any large or weirdly-shaped horns!

Also includes how to attach them because whenever I read horn tutorials that didn’t tell you how to attach them, it would piss me off.  These horns were difficult to attach and I don’t want to piss you guys off or leave you with horns and no way to wear them.

DIY Wire Wrapped Flower Armband Circlet Tutorial from Pandahall.

To make this tutorial easier and better, I’d use super bendy floral wire and fake silk flowers bought on clearance at the craft store. This would be a nice addition to a floral/faerie themed costume. Also, I find it amusing that Pandahall watermarks their how-to photos to death, when I always to an image search on their photos to see if the images are indeed their own.

Splicer mask pt. 2

Covering the whole front and just the back of the ears to give it 3D effect. To hold the ears up and make more sturdy I cut small lines of wire and hot glued two to each ear base. I gave the mask the bunny nose and eyebrows for more character. I used Model Magic to cover the mask and it’s still drying right now. Hopefully later tonight i can smooth it all out and start painting.

Splicer mask pt. 1

Started last night. Got a cheap but sturdy mask from Hobby Lobby and cut off the nose and lower face then widened the eyes and removed some of the top of the head. I removed the nose because with the rabbit mask in the game, the nose is longer and ends almost at the edge of the mask. Also I had to cut some of the forehead because it was too rounded and I wouldn't be able to attach the ears to my liking. 

BTW I’m mostly following a tutorial I found on YouTube.

So, I've been slowly working on new cosplays for this year. Hopefully by A-kon I will have Pascal (Tales of Graces), Vivi (Mystery Skulls-Ghost), and a Splicer (Bioshock) completed.  Been planning the first two for awhile but recently I played through the first Bioshock in 2 days and I really enjoyed it. Gonna be working on the 2nd game soon but I’m excited to get the cosplay started. Already got materials to make a mask for it and gotta figure out an outfit and possibly a weapon. I definitely plan to put up pictures of progress at least on the Splicer since I will be doing it all myself.

STOP DYEING WIGS WITH SHARPIES AND ACRYLIC INK

USE. FABRIC. DYE. FOR. SYNTHENTICS.

I never ever ever see people talking about this, everyone understandably gets excited when they come across the holy news that is dyeing synthetic wigs with sharpies and ink but you will find out the hard way that that shit RUBS OFF on stuff.

Synthetic wigs are basically made out of similar fibers to what synthetic clothing is made out of. USE. FABRIC. DYE.

The wig won’t be crunchy, it won’t wear off, it won’t rub off.

THis is a link to a huuuge color experiment showing lots of shades dyed onto white fibres with RIT and then iDye Polyester, which is what I recommend bc it’s more predictable.

Spread this like fire I’m so tired of seeing everyone flip about ink when I know you’re gonna end up with crunchy, staining wigs.

A quick video about how I painted some shoes for a recent cosplay. There are several other methods that can be used, but I enjoyed the look of the shoes when done this way so I thought I would share.

i’m sorry this is so bad but i tried my hardest i’m not good with teaching people but some of my friends wanted to know how i do this so here you go„„, oh also i suggest using an eye shadow and mascara close to your hair color/natural hair color and if your lips are a little too pink, put some chapstick on and then a little concealer on them will do the trick(i forgot to do this sadly cries) again, i’m really sorry this is so bad if you have any questions please feel free to ask me„„,

I went to Ikkicon this past weekend. It was a very casual experience. I decided not to cosplay and I didn't get many pictures. Still had fun seeing friends I haven't been able to see in a long time. I plan on going to All-con this year and will be cosplaying something new.

Okay so after I posted that long list of things I need for Princess Vanellope, I got a surprising amount of people asking me what App I was using. I’m actually really surprised that this is apparently not very well known, so let me go into a thing about it!

This app is called Cosplanner and its for Android in the Google Play market (Not sure if it works on apple products yet!). If you’re a cosplayer this app is everything you could possibly want. I used to list all of my costumes and what I needed to get for them all on tumblr, but now I use Cosplanner and its saved me more than once!

Cosplanner is essentially a cosplay list where you can put in what materials you need to get your cosplay done and it keeps track of everything for you. There’s a ‘To Buy’ and a ‘To Make’ section which makes keeping track of what you have to do and get for your cosplay so much easier! It even has an area where you can keep reference photo’s of whatever you’re working on, which is hella helpful. Not to mention it can keep track of how much something cost so you can go back and count up how much money you dumped into your cosplay! (Everything with the 0 dollar mark in Opal’s list I already had.)

The app is totally free, but it does have its limits. When you get it it only allows you to list 20 things in the Buy/Make section, but it allows you to upgrade  to 100 items for only a dollar more!

I highly recommend this to any beginning or even experienced cosplayer out there, if they don’t already know about it. Cosplanner is a life saver and quite easily the most used app on my phone right now. Get it if you can!

I was gonna do a short review about it but forgot to >.<'  Got this app a few days ago and it's very helpful keeping track of what I need to get and how close I am to finishing my cosplays. I definitely recommend it to all cosplayers who can get it :)

do you know the struggle of trying to take a picture of this thing in the dark? so much struggle. even tried a webcam video and camera video. hmm
