“     we were separated  —    ”     a guttural purr   leaves him once the gentle scratching begins underneath his chin,  broad shoulders seem to slump downward into an uncharacteristically relaxed position;  if alter had not kept his own behavior in check,  his leg would’ve already started thumping at the ground in tandem with the scratches.    “     it was my fault.     ”

ᴀ  ᴄᴏɴsɪᴅᴇʀᴀʙʟᴇ  ᴀᴍᴏᴜɴᴛ  ᴏғ  ᴛɪᴍᴇ ,            while Fenris took comfort in the knowledge that they would find each other once more ,   his heart still YEARNED to find him once again .   The scratching stops momentarily ,   other hand rising to cradle the other side of his face in order to pull Cu’s face CLOSER to his ,   eyes closing as lips press firmly against his  &  breaking apart with a faint murmur .                               ‘      No ,   there were outside variables that we did not account for that led to our separation .   I only hoped that we would find one another SOONER rather than later .      ’

A whisper of a smile on the corners of his lips ,   nails gently scratching chin in a steady rhythm ,   low hum escaping him .                          ‘      I haven’t seen you for some time .   I was looking forward to seeing you again .      ’

ʟᴇᴀɴɪɴɢ  ʙᴀᴄᴋ  ᴀɢᴀɪɴsᴛ  ᴛʜᴇ  ᴘʟᴜsʜ  sᴏғᴀ ,            calloused fingers gently tracing the markings under his closed eye  &  pushing them into his hair ,   resting against the back of his neck momentarily .   Hard to imagine him so calm  &  peaceful ,   half lying on top of the smaller man with ear pressed against his chest  (  wondering if he simply wanted to hear his heartbeat  ) .                           ‘      You haven’t fallen asleep already ,   have you ?       ’

“     …    ?   ”      seeing the reaction to his offering of   PERFECTLY FRESH   meat,  alter simply stares down at him with the lump still in hand.  clotted, stringing blood gently pattering against the ground in his own   deafening silence.    was it not the right consistency  ?    perhaps he simply didn’t like this quality of prey  ?     slowly he brings the mass of flesh to his own mouth,  taking a large bite of it with rows of sharp teeth  and effortlessly tearing off a reasonably sized portion of it.  chewing once,  twice.  abruptly leans down and presses his bloodied mouth firmly against fenris’s,  viciously lathing his tongue over the other’s bottom lip.   

                                                      would this help   ?

ᴀ  sɪɢʜ  ᴘᴜsʜᴇs  ғʀᴏᴍ  ʜɪᴍ ,  ʜᴀɴᴅ  ʟᴏᴡᴇʀɪɴɢ  ғʀᴏᴍ  ᴍᴏᴜᴛʜ            as he watches the other take a large chunk from the foreign mass of flesh .   He frowns ,   lips momentarily parting in order to comment on just what he was doing until Cu dips forward  &  lips find their place against his .  A sharp grunt ,   hands shooting up to grip broad shoulders ,   THE COLD METAL OF HIS GAUNTLETS SINKING INTO THE FURS OF HIS CAPE .    He can feel the warm blood dripping down his chin as the chewed up portions of meat find themselves being PUSHED into his mouth .   That’s when he does something out of pure instinct ,   even surprising himself upon doing it .

                                  He clamps his teeth down on Cu Chulainn’s tongue .

alter’s maw pulling into a   deepening frown    at the other man’s words.  but still fenris doesn’t push away from his corrosive touch like many have done so in the past,    𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐔𝐃𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆    from within a bog in a land not traversed by many.  leisurely, alter’s armored tail comes to a rest around the other man,  slowly curling inward as if   unwilling to let him go    until the question was answered. one might even take it as a softly veiled threat  had they not known any better;     hand taking hold of fenris’s chin.

                          ’    …    WHY   do you think so lowly of yourself    -     ‘  

ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ’s  ᴀʟᴍᴏsᴛ  ᴀʟᴡᴀʏs  ᴀɴ  ᴜɴᴅᴇʀʟʏɪɴɢ  ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴛ  ᴛʜᴀᴛ  ᴄᴏᴍᴇs  ᴀʟᴏɴɢ  ᴡɪᴛʜ  ʜɪs  ᴛᴏᴜᴄʜ ,            &  perhaps he should be considered a FOOL for never pulling away from it ,   but even with the firm grip that takes hold of his chin ,   there’s nothing threatening about it .   HE KNOWS THAT HE’S MORE THAN CAPABLE OF BREAKING SKIN  &  SPLINTERING BONE ,   BUT REMAINS STILL IN HIS GRASP .   Brilliant verdant fixates on the eerie crimson ,   briefly captivated ,   before a sigh pushes past his lips  &  gaze lowers with a dry laugh .                          He can’t be serious ,   can he ?                         ‘      It is not so much the case of thinking LOWLY of myself ,   but rather the reality of what we both are .   You ,   are something far more than a mage ,   a demon ,   or abomination ,   while I am a runaway fugitive with a target trained on his back placed by his former master .      ’        it’s not meant to be viewed as NEGATIVE ,   but perhaps he should have known that Cu wouldn’t have seen it that way .

                  ❝ WHAT? CAN’T A MAN JUST BRING HIS FRIENDS ON … very purposeful little adventures outside? i may have been taking you to have a lovely picnic. ❞       he’s feigning offence, a hand held over his heart in mock - pain. staff has been put to use as a walking stick more than anything, though he did bring along a sword resting on his hip. magic would be used minimally - at least in this company.        ❝ but actually, now that you mention it - i did perhaps hear word of some cult like activity happening out in this area. what do you even call a group of cultists? an orgy? ❞

ʜᴇ  ʜᴀs  ᴛᴏ  sᴜᴘᴘʀᴇss  ᴛʜᴇ  ɢʀᴏᴀɴ  ᴛʜᴀᴛ  ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴛᴇɴs  ᴛᴏ  ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ  ʜɪᴍ ,        though an unamused GRUNT is what escapes him instead ,   lips pulling into a slight FROWN .                         ‘      Hawke .      ’        he intones ,   unamused ,   as he rolls his eyes .   Maker ,   this mage would be the end of him with his piss-poor jokes .   It takes a moment before he decides to somewhat indulge it  (  though he should have known that it would further encourage the shoddy jests  ) .         ‘      I doubt anyone would refer to a gathering of members as an orgy of cultists .      ’        A pause ,   frowning at himself before quickly adding ,        ‘      shouldn’t we be paying attention to where we’re going ?      ’

unceremoniously presses a    gelatinous mass    of monster flesh to his lips.  for once a look of genuine concern for fenris replaces a more common look of sheer aggression.         “     i   HAVEN’T  seen you eat today.     ”

ᴍᴜғғʟᴇᴅ  sᴏᴜɴᴅ  ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇs  ʜɪᴍ ,            lips firmly pressing together as something wet  &  warm pushes against his lips .   Immediately jerking away ,   the cool steel of his gauntlet brushes against his mouth ,   nausea momentarily overtaking him as expression TWISTS into a displeased frown .   At least up until he sees the expression on Cu’s face .   Frown softens at the edges ,   furrowed brows easing as he moves his hand to bashfully scratch the side of his face instead .                         ‘        You needn’t concern yourself over me ,   my appetite simply hasn’t caught up with me yet .        ’

    “Oh, of that I have no doubt.” His attention was not what Nanna could exactly call friendly, but Nanna couldn’t help but spread an amused smile at the accusation as she shifted her weight more comfortably on her staff. 

    “’Tis somewhat relieving to hear some doubt, if I am to be honest. My dear friend’s ballads seem to have taken on a life of their own since she’s been away. The last legend chaser I encountered was quite disappointed that I was not ten feet tall.”

ʜᴇ  ғɪɴᴅs  ʜɪᴍsᴇʟғ  ɪɴᴄᴀᴘᴀʙʟᴇ  ᴏғ  ʜɪᴅɪɴɢ  ᴀ  sᴍɪʟᴇ  ᴀᴛ  ʜᴇʀ  ᴡᴏʀᴅs.            Shoulders somewhat dropping as he makes an attempt to ease himself into COMFORT around her .   She’s fought monsters  &  demons ,   he reminds himself ,   but even so there’s always a measure of trepidation that he finds himself battling whenever a mage is close by .   PERHAPS IT’S THE WAY THAT THEIR MAGIC MAKES HIS MARKINGS HUM BENEATH HIS SKIN ,   bringing a measure of discomfort that he tries to ignore . Ʀᴇɢᴀʀᴅʟᴇss ,   ʜᴇ  ᴀʟʟᴏᴡs  ᴀ  ǫᴜɪᴇᴛ  ᴄʜᴜᴄᴋʟᴇ.        Head tilting somewhat as a hand vaguely gestures towards her .                         ‘        I will admit that I imagined you to at least be . . .   reasonably taller ,   though I suppose tall tales would bring ANYONE to believe the Hero of Ferelden to be larger than life ,   &  people ,   apparently .        ’

                        ‘        Stay your distance unless you wish to try your luck .        ’            voice ripples in a low warning ,   brows furrowing upon forehead as top lip pulls back in a faint SNARL .   His grip on sword tightens considerably ,   both steel  &  armor stained with blood from an opponent he could only deem to be some kind of demon ,   THOUGH IT WAS UNLIKE ANY HE HAD EVER SEEN BEFORE .   He shifts his weight ,   bare heel digging into the ground as he stares at the unknown figure nearby .                           ‘        What is this place ?        ’
