didnt mean to be gone for as long as I was. have had a lot going on and then went on vacation with my family and now I'm kinda recovering, but I still wanna write on fenris!
Ok so I've furthered fenris' companion quest and I have Questions (that may or may not be answered in canon somewhere already but that's fine)
Why did Fenris choose his new name? When did you think he did so? Do you have any hcs as to why his hair is white but his eyebrows are dark? (Part of me is considering shock... I know the popular "hair goes white when the body experiences trauma" and getting riddled with lyrium is Definitely Trauma)
Do you think he & his sister are biological?
Some of these are answered in canon yeah! Not sure if you've already gotten the answers since this ask is pretty old (I'm so sorry lol).
Spoilers ahead if you haven't gotten further in the game.
Danarius chose the name Fenris, to mean his little wolf. For this hair, he was like a light brown (?) in the comics before undergoing the experiment, so yes the trauma of it turned his hair white. I guess that doesn't always affect eyebrows? idk lol) and yes I think him and his sister are biological. Before the experiment, he fought in a tournament to free them from being slaves, and winning meant he was Danarius's experiment.
I like the idea of them being blood-related siblings more because I feel it's more of a gut punch and ties in with the themes of DA2 better. She's his blood-related family but still sells him out to Danarius, and his chosen family, the Kirkwall crew, save him and help him find himself again (unless, you know, you're a monster...)
I can see Fenris having a desire to find his mom possibly, or at least learn what happened to her, but he doesnt trust his sister anymore. that bridge is burned. I also don't see him going back to his old name or taking a new one. The old him is dead, and Fenris is a name he's reclaimed. He's himself now and no one owns him

" okay, fine. i'll concede that dropping my tankard on that guy's foot was an accident. a slip of the fingers, etc. i am only human, after all." hawke shrugged, reaching over her shoulder for her polearm. " but him not shutting up and being cool about it? big, big mistake. "
Fenris snorted in mild amusement. "Was that an accident?" He had doubts about that. Doubts that were not allayed by her jokes.
@captins: sometimes i just don't know what goes on in your head. Isabela said as she gently brushed his hair out of his face with her hand. / white oleander, pt. 2 meme!
Fenris leaned into Isabela's touch, enjoying the feeling of her fingers running through his hair. His hand found the curve of her hip and stayed there. "I could tell you what's going through it right now."
However, instead of doing so, he tilted his head and a smile curved along his mouth. "Unless you would rather guess."
@personaei / marian hawke " it was a mistake, maybe, but not an accident. "
"And which part was the mistake and which the accident?"
the real question is who is fenris romancing in veilguard
Fenris~
white oleander, pt. 2.

you must be so brave. how can you stand it?
you're never where you are. you're only inside your head.
i would have shown you if you would have asked.
you're so boring, i don't even recognize you.
sometimes i just don't know what goes on in your head.
it doesn't really exist. it's an illusion.
why do you always have to tell the truth?
certain people should always be lied to.
i don't think people should fool around with things they don't believe in.
i would have thought you'd outgrown fairytales.
never drink. it just makes things worse.
do i embarrass you?
nothing lasts. don't you know that by now?
take my advice. stay away from all broken people.
tell me, baby, what is the worst thing?
stay with me, promise. don't leave.
you never know when help might come.
sometimes attention hurts more than it helps.
i don't let anyone touch me.
doesn't anything matter to you?
don't touch my stuff or i'll kill you.
we are the free birds. they want to be us.
you think i'd look good blond?
school sucks. why don't you blow it off?
the pain we cannot bear will kill us outright.
i only looked away for a moment.
just because a poet said something doesn't mean it's true, only that it sounds good.
sometimes i wish you were dead, so i would know you were safe.
i don't know how to believe my own lies.
we're not everybody. we're not even remotely like everybody.
you ever wonder why people get out of bed in the morning? why do they bother?
what could you possibly have to say to me?
we get all the bad dreams. we got to leave some for somebody else.
you're still such a child, aren't you?
it was a mistake, maybe, but not an accident.
fatherhood is a sentimental myth, like valentine's day.
don't turn over rocks if you don't want to see the pale creatures who live under them.
the past is still happening. it never stopped.
don't ask me why i left. ask me why i came back.
you're like a bomb site. you frighten me.
i wanted you to hurt the way i did.
TMI but my energy is gonna be low this weekend cause uhhh my period *sobs* if you wanna chat with me tho I have discord or IMs free
I found that veilguard mod for fenris but it needs frosty mod manager but it turns out that since I installed my game on my external SSD, it doesnt have the right format that works with frosty, so I can't have rook!fenris yet :sobs:
'...Sure but you are not gonna do it alone.' She said in a blunt and determined voice, offering him the bottle of alchol. ' For now, let's just get drunk and enjoy the quiet for now.' She smiled her hand moving onto his shoulder giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"And I assume you will be the one to assist me with this?" He didn't clarify if she meant killing Danarius or getting drunk, because he knew she would say both. Fenris accepted the bottle she passed his way and took a long drink, holding the bottle high and exposing his neck to her.

"What do you want, mage?"
" A soft bed, a warm meal, at least two cats, and the ability to rain fireballs upon every Templar in creation, of course. " Sardonic tone, though the mage himself appeared overall affable. What he wanted verses what he needed at the moment, and what he NEEDED was Fenris' permission. He assumed, at least. Better that than end up with a hand in his chest cavity if he just took it upon himself to do as he pleased. Thus, on a more serious note...
" May I look around that mansion you're staying in next time you're home? There were a few things I noticed while we were clearing out the traps and demons a while back that I'd like to get a closer look at. " Like⦠just what did Tevinter Magisters read, he wondered?
As he often did, Anders prattled on meaninglessly for a moment, as if it was his aim to fill the air with useless drivel before getting to the point of the matter. Eventually, as it always did, the truth of it came out.
"Looking to follow in a magister's footsteps already?" Fenris cast the mage a withering glare. "You would be better off traveling to Tevinter and apprenticing yourself to one."
But, in case it wasn't obvious, "No. I'm not helping a mage become more dangerous, especially one such as you."
Though the truth was that Fenris had no idea what kinds of books had been left behind. He'd seen there were books, damaged and torn as they were, many of them burnt beyond recognition or damaged by the demons that had haunted the mansion, but what little there was that was still intact was also unrecognizable to him. After all, he'd never learned how to read. That didn't mean he'd be handing them off to Anders, though.

Kirkwall was a festering sore he was eager to be done with once Hawke had seen to their business and thus begun to trust him enough to lend him both protection and money. With Hawke under his thrall, he could go after Cazador. And then he would be free.
It was a difficult thing, traveling as a vampire. He could only play up the delicate complexion and enticingly mysterious nature so much before eyes turned his way. Sundermount made it easier, especially with his need to hunt. Heād begun to think Cazador chose Kirkwall for a reason, knowing Astarion would come for him, with the overabundance of rats and nothing else.
His jaw was poised now before a bearās broken neck, nearly salivating in anticipation. His eyes, however, were trained on the sudden break through the trees ā heād thought heād been alone, careful ā watching for any sudden movement. Heād seen Fenris cleave through a manās chest like it was another Tuesday.
āThis isnāt what it looks like,ā Astarion pulled himself away, dropping the bear with a strained casualness. He shook himself of it with a snap of his posture, straightening his shoulders. Slipping back into the role.
Sundermount is known even in Tevinter, its cursed peeks teeming with despair and the horrors that were inflicted upon them centuries ago by magisters and elves in their war. It is yet one more victim to the irresponsibility of mages.
Astarion isn't a mage but that doesn't mean that Fenris trusts him, not that many can claim they have the former slave's trust. But there is something shifty and all together distasteful about Astarion. In the way that he obviously has something to hide and in the way he has sidled up to Hawke.
He is no mage, but he reminds Fenris of the magisters in certain ways.
With that in mind, Fenris had tailed the rogue beyond Kirkwall's city and the truth of it was worse than he thought.
"Vampire," Fenris snarled as he unsheathed his sword. He had seen his pointed teeth poised to feast on the bear's neck. "I should have realized sooner." Many of them make Minrathous their home, some of them magisters themselves even. It is always power that they want. "Save your excuses, vampire."
fenris in mass effect would def be some kind of cerberus biotic experiment. human, cause there's no real elf equivalent, but the markings remain. maybe their idea for some kind of super soldier, to put biotic humans on par with more advanced biotic species like the asari and without the need of an implant. plus instead of just affecting objects/others he can affect his own body with it. only, it completely wiped fenris's memory and they proceeded to use him as a slave.
