Are you talking commissions? I love your art.
Thanks! Right now I am not taking commissions, however I am flattered and appreciate your interest.
Small restyles of Luke and Jamie.
Wanted to design some Pokemon starters
Love the art especially the redesigns and more sore the Dice characters. I would love to play a fighting with these cool fantasy characters. Is the Dandelion Boxer a part of the Dice series or something different? Some of these characters would look right at home in a Darkstalkers sequel.
Thanks! The Dandelion Boxer is not part of the Dice series, it was more a concept that came from word play/association. But yeah I really appreciate your comment, Darkstalkers is one of my favorite franchises/influences from a design/animation perspective!
My submission for this month’s Character Design Challenge, Carnival of Brazil. She’s a pearl dancer decorated with a feather star (related to starfish and sea urchin)
Some concept and stills. A lot easier to see the halftone in the stills.
Been trying to learn/improve 3D. Started with a concept in my sketchbook of a luchador inspired character with cactus legs. Anyways, 3D is hard and technical. Mostly experimental with rendering done with the Toon Shader and using a halftone shader. Feels like it has a PS2 era look.
A water gargoyle or searaphim that carries a truncated D4 vial. The D4 vial despite its small size carries 100 gallons of water that refills when capped. The gargoyle’s wings are not for flight but for swimming . The species are quite clumsy on land, and like their gargoyle namesake, can spit out water proficiently. They can sleep or hibernate which cause them to create a coral-like shell casing. He is a zoner/keepaway that needs to drink water to execute moves. He also has a gimmick where he can create a coral clone that has a delayed action. He goes into a gargoyle stance to do wing slashes that hit low/mid/high.
Sketch to start the New Years. Character/creature I’m trying to polish.
Felt like drawing a new profile pic
A giant that was imprisoned. Comes from a race of beings that covers their head with helmets. Body is comprised of a heavy gas. In fighting game tropes, he is a stance changing grappler. Has the ability to change his weight through D12 dice as well as float.
Some Lucia design pose tests.
Some design notes. My interpretation of Lucia. Was inspired after watching Brooklyn 99 and I realized that most of the characters usually wear business casual clothing with their badge somewhere on them. In this case, I made up an accessory that attaches the badge to the collar of a shirt. The suspenders are an item is associated with police/detectives and attached are a collapsible baton (couldn't find reference for a collapsible tonfa) and gun on the other side. She carries a coffee thermos behind her waist, to exaggerate her love for coffee.
One thing that I liked from her Final Fight design, and an aspect that I like about Final Fight characters in general, is that they channel a bit of street fashion and many of them through their shoes usually being sneakers (Cody, Guy, and Maki). In this case, she's wearing some Air Jordans. The red socks I thought were a nice accent, although they also worked in blue when I experimented.I think the most difficult part was the hair. While initially I was heavily inspired by Sailor Uranus, I found that she ended up looking like Blue Mary or King. I realized a shaved head wasn't really something I had seen in SF, and added scarring to add more interest as well as roughen her up a bit. Has metal plating behind her gloves but decided against fingerless gloves since having them covered somehow seems more detective-y? Playing RE2 Remake recently I realized Capcom does a really good job in creating interesting police and army inspired outfits for Resident Evil characters and I find I wish they had used some of that design sense for Lucia.
Some Lucia exploration.
