Happy
Her marriage wasn't all that perfect, no marriage is. There was never a single doubt that Monica had ever wanted her marriage to fall when things went bad but instead, she stood strong and fixed the problem. And even when it was her fault, Monica took the blame. It's selfish but Monica knew that there will never be another person to take Sam's place. Her first love and only love.
Monica's goal of attending Cordon Bleu was set aside but she really didn't mind. Applying to NYU online courses, Monica was happy with the business courses she took and was slowly in the process of building her own but small catering company. She mostly baked cupcakes and those ridiculous, infamous cookies for parties.
When Stephy turned six, it was planned that the Garza's were going to finally have a wedding in front of their closest friends and family. Everything was perfect. She got the Vera she has always wanted, the long straight blonde hair was now shoulder-length with simple romantic curls and instead of heels, she went bare foot. It was a beach wedding after all.
As the ship came into view, Monica's lips curled as she quickly approached it. Holding onto Sam's hand, she smiled at him and tugged lightly on his arm. It was so good to see everyone again, the food and music still felt the same and most of all, the ship was still perfect like it has always been. After hours spent with her old friends and teachers, Monica quietly excused herself and made her way to the one place she had always felt safe. Room #7. Walking into the empty room, Monica smiled as she closed the door behind her, giving herself some alone time. It was still the same room that she had met her first friend Jasey, letting Sam sleep over after the Halloween dance and falling in love with him. She also finally got rid of those pills that had almost killed the girl back home during the Burning Boat, meeting Nessa, and befriending the people Monica thought she would never be friends with. She also remembers the smile that Lane had always wore and picturing it, Monica could feel her friend beside her.
Suddenly, Monica realizes that she's happy.
"I'm so glad I came to Brooks," she said to no one.
