How do you think Blake & Weiss feel about the fact Yang & Ruby are more comfortable killing than either of them are?

Like, Blake has likely killed before Adam which is likely why she's so resistant to it, trauma, guilt, the fact she views taking a life as a reflection of her morals and ideals while for Ruby & Yang its just a numbers game with survival. Meanwhile Weiss for all her issues was sheltered in many regards, not as much as some people but more than one might expect.

In these regards, Blake's view on it for both Ruby & Yang would be interesting as she has a very different relationship with both. While Weiss's is comparatively similar.

I don’t know how you knew I was thinking about this subject literally the day u sent this but it’s CRAZY (couldn’t answer that day I was getting ready to move into dorms and I’ve been busy with school sense)

I 100% believe yang and ruby are more comfortable with the idea of killing then Weiss or Blake

On Blake and Weiss’s side I think you’ve hit the nail on the head

Blake has a bad association, I 100% believe she has at least assisted in Adam killing people considering he’s killing people in even his earliest in the timeline flashbacks and she was his partner

Her line was when he openly admitted to planning to kill a mass amount of randomized innocent people (a train full which is a lot) with no sign of remorse or apprehension or shame

And then the last person she killed was him, who for as awful as he was, was still someone she once deeply cared for and loved

And no matter how terrible he is and was and no matter how necessary the kill, the fact she was forced to kill someone she used to care about because they’d rather die then stop trying to kill you an everything you care about is awful

So yeah not a great association

Plus Blake was raised by parents famously very against it especially in the white fang that’s like literally why they left it

Even if they’re the kinds of people to self defense kill (they are) they’re definitely the kinds of parents to constantly talk about how being peaceful is the best option and how you should talk out your problems and you shouldn’t hurt others and others shouldn’t hurt you kinda thing

Especially cause Blake was pretty young the last time she was fully with them

Weiss was rich kid from a rich family in a rich city that has definitely led to the deaths of many but never personally had to get their hands dirty

Horrible working conditions, warring with the white fang, probably worse considering how chill Weiss’s asshat dad is with satans lackeys

But Weiss personally is definitely not aware of all the terrible crimes at first she just knows they’re not amazing morally and she wants to make the company better

Plus she’s privileged from THE Military state of COURSE she conflates law with morality, even normal people do that on occasion

She freaked out when sun was a stowaway!!! A victimless crime!! Sun!!! “Weren’t you in a cult” guy!!!

She tried to arrest her dad and then asked if it was ALLOWED!!! To do that!!! Yeah she’s so rich but she never seems to have had the autonomy to use that to be aware of being above the law cause she was to busy with being obedient to rules

Moving back to my girls

My reasons the strq sisters aren’t as against killing when necessary are mostly just 2 big ones

1-They were raised to be hunters in actual hunter schools and were raised by actual huntsmen and (briefly) a huntress

2-A HUGE influence on them was qrow, who has killed MANY times and was raised as and by criminals

Huntsmen and huntresses are 100% expected to kill if necessary, obviously, I mean do you see anyone talking about locking cinder up??? NO it’s kill!! Obviously if it was feasible or possible or convenient they’d lock her up for information but yeah it’s a dead or alive situation emphasis on dead

I believe all of team strq has killed, they’re huntsmen, specifically they’re ozpins fav’s which means fighting SALEM which means fighting PEOPLE which means KILLING

So yang and ruby have probably, throughout their schooling, have known even subconsciously they’ll possibly have to kill a person if they become huntress’s, and with the knowledge that everyone they’ve ever been surrounded by (classmates, teachers, family, family friends) are expected to do the same it probably wasn’t a hard pill to swallow

And qrow is self explanatory plus he’s the most active of the ozzys favs

When ur raised by people who have killed or are generally not that against killing, even if the people raising you don’t talk about the fact they’ve killed people, the mindset carries over

The way they talk about people being killed, the reactions to tv shows, movies, books, stories where people are killed or even when they’re not but maybe they should’ve been

You pick it up

The lesson is yes of course murders is wrong, killing for no reason is crazy, people who do that are awful, but for self defense, for the defense of others, of course you do it

Now about wb reactions to the strq sisters attitudes towards it

I think they’d both be shocked for sure, in different ways yeah but they’d both be shocked

Similar to a lot of things they only eventually learn about the strq family

They’re introduced to them as this little happy family and they slowly learn how this family’s so fucked up they’re tied to the things that are magically wrong with the actual world

But this is about Ruby and yang personally, like they’re actual morals and ethics, it’s more personal

And it’s not a change from after the fall this is something that has been true about them both the whole time and they never noticed

It’s just not an obvious thing about people till you actually talk about it or run into it

No one ever asked why yang and ruby were so chill about Blake being an ex-extreme criminal but there is an answer which is their uncle was super similar and they love that guy

No one ever asked where yang was going when she said she had a friend that might know things about the white fang and it turned out it was some gang owned club she’s blown up before and it’s so criminally connected she’s seen the actual guy they’re looking for hanging out there once and now only Ruby and Neptune know about it doubt they told anyone (maybe Neptune told sun)

No one asked how Ruby got into beacon!! Which was a fight between the mini big bad they’re looking for for the first 3 seasons and also had a surprise appearance from satans favorite soldier!!!

They never asked cause they expected them to be whatever “normal” is so they just thought everything they did must be normal and have normal explanations for a while

But yeah they’re not that put off by killing when necessary

It’s just a shocking thing to learn about your very sweet loving friends

Not that it technically changes any of that it just doesn’t really fit with either Weiss or Blake’s world views that yang and Ruby are like that

Blake and Weiss’s impression of huntress’s in the beginning of the show seems to be these morally outstanding soldiers, like the best thing you could do with your life no wonder purposeful propaganda so that people immediately feel relief when they see huntsmen because of how important people being calm is in the Rwby world

But ruby and yang don’t have that illusion, yeah Ruby wants to be a fairy tale hero but it’s with the example of her mom, a real person, who actually did the job, different from just fairy tales and yang seems to think of it pretty normally as a job she likes and would be good at

I think it’d take them like a few weeks to wrap their heads around it fully for sure

Maybe longer months to years if they choose not to think/ talk about it which is something they might do they’re kinda like that sometimes not they fault tho they busy and mentally unwell

I honestly think Weiss would probably take it better then Blake would because Weiss is just kinda used to being shocked at this point not that she understands it faster

I think either way the conversation happening with Ruby from either of them would be probably the most entertaining

Like specifically the youngest in the families perspective on something kinda generational

Because from yangs perspective from a very young age did she probably steal within herself “yeah I’d kill for my little sister” you know even if it’s just a grim it’s a stressful thing to put yourself through for someone else and she knew she’d do it a billion times for her sister

But with Ruby it’s a bit more subtle because that does go both ways but the first feeling isn’t “oh I’d kill to protect this person” it’s “oh this person would kill to protect me” which is more of a “oh that’s what being loved is” kinda situation for such a little kid and i think it’d just be the most interesting thing to have one of the two (wb) talk to her specifically
